Rangiku meows because she is talking about her Zanpakuto Haineko which means "ash cat."
Hi, not sure if you'll read this, but I unfortunately had to take a break from these reactions, so I couldn't comment. Might end up posting each manga in one comment for the latest episode. Btw, the scene with Omaeda protecting his sister (Mareyo) was longer in the manga and quite different. He's less scared in the anime, but I think this ironically make's him look less courageous than in the manga. BG9, who gathered intel on the guard squad, threatens him to reveal his Captains location; Omaeda admits that he'd probably do so if he knew, but smugly tells BG9 that it wouldn't matter since she'd never lose to him. One BIG difference is that BG9 actually manages to skewer Omaeda's sister (thankfully she didn't die from this) in an effort to force info out of him, and threatens the rest of his family too. In a fit of rage, Omaeda slams his ball & chain into BG9, demanding him to let Mareyo go. He continues to fight back, not thinking clearly as he gets stabbed. Honestly, I kinda prefer how the manga handled this part.
100% agree on your take about TYBW not really using time to let its characters breathe (especially the quincies). This is actually my #1 critique of the arc. Antagonists in previous arcs always felt like they had a lot of personality, back story, and narrative impact. The Quincies kinda just feel like a soulless army to me and I can't even say I like any of their characters a lot besides maybe Ywach.
You think Bambi a freak wait to you meet her “friends” lol
Irazusando roughly translates to the "Unapproachable Path", you are meant to feel confused with scenes from here as its all new information. Also agree with the pacing, at the time it was hype as hell with breakneck action and things happening constantly, but being caught up and rewatching this it really does drive home that so much of this story is not fleshed out, purely because there is so much happening and not enough time to properly cover every backstory and character relation.
Get used to hearing characters explain everything. I wrote it in another comment, Cour 2 is basically Thousand Years of Exposition.
SOI-FON MY QUEEN Soi-Fon's outfit was always supposed to show her sides like this, but it was always censored in the original anime, so when she showed up with her combat outfit instead of her captain outfit in the BG9 scenes in this episode it was really hype. This is the 3rd time Rangiku used Heineko in canon, the first time was against the arrancar Nakeem when Grimmjow first invaded The World of the Living. She also uses it in every filler and half the movies. The reason the Quincies are invading already is because 9 days have already passed since their previous invasion and the Kaiser Gesang says they will claim the world in 9 days. Tite Kubo didn't show the full extent of the 9 days of training because everyone complained that his previous arcs took too long to get going and that the training arcs were too long. The reason Irazusando is said like we've heard it before along with many other Japanese proper nouns and names for things in Bleach is because in Japanese words can have several different meanings, they expect you to have heard it before because Tite Kubo writes assuming you know Japanese and that you can decipher the meaning. Tite Kubo insists these words shouldn't be translated because translating them to 1 meaning would make them lose their weight. Irazusando can mean: "the road approaching the shrine with no entry" "the unapproachable path" = (official netflix translation because they translated it anyway) "The sacred road with no entry" "The endless road to the shrine" (since no entry in japanese can also mean endless) "The unreachable road"
There is a name for the group of Sternritter on the stage, but I don’t believe it’s been said yet.
Lack of Sternritter interaction is a valid critque, especially compared to some of the Shinigami, Espada and Fullbringer characters.
Well the Shinigami, The Espada we got to know, and the Fullbringers were all like re-occurring characters, I actually think this arc spends too much time letting us know the Sternritter I don't see the point of getting to know characters that will stay enemies and just be gone later unless they win. I'd rather the writing focus on the main players.
BG9s Schrift might be "Knowledge"
Any complaints you have with bleach is justified. This arc does have great moments but I don't think they outweigh my complaints with this arc. I felt the same you did reading it weekly too
I agree that it is kinda sudden but at the same time if the quincies r ready why give the soul reapers time to train and get ready instead of just attacking them when they were already down
