Tonio's lying about tomatoes. While they're huge in Italian cooking now, they're not even native to Europe. They were domesticated in South America and brought to Europe in the 16th century.
My favorite meal I've ever eaten was a Boneless Lamb Saag in a cauldron looking thing covered in a bunch of greens and vegetables and spices paired with an Afghan Naan in Nigella Curry at an Afghanistan-style restaurant of all places. It's called the Afghan House on W Devon Ave in Chicago they let me eat the food sitting on a rug covered in pillows and a bunch of the regulars randomly sat with me to eat their food with me as if I had always been there it was really interesting.

I remember my first time watching this episode. I was binging part 4 with a friend who had already seen it. Just before this episode started I was complaining about how every stand user they run into is trying to kill them. Like, why don't normal people exist? Then peak happened.
