After the (what felt like) disaster of making the Siren video, I wanted to pump the brakes and do something a little smaller and sillier. This is a game I've wanted to cover since the first days of my channel but simply couldn't get running anymore. As I mention in the video, I did "something" and it just kind worked so I jumped on the opportunity. Fair warning there is some unpleasant content in the game, but being gamers (non-pejorative) of a sort yourselves, I'm sure it's nothing you haven't seen and rolled your eyes at before. Hope you like it!
To update you on the other business in the tubes. I'm still writing a long ass Patron-only video that I'll probably see if I can dig my way through first. It's sort of my attempt at catching up to and refining the old Darkened Streams videos which includes a lot of reassessment. So, that MIGHT be the next video, but if I feel like I'm not making significant progress I'll pivot over to PARASITE EVE 2, which should be a lot fun!
I felt I was on a decent track to getting some music out soon, but a series of dumb illnesses threw that off schedule, but I'm still poking at it when I can. I included a little snippet of my track "Praxis Via Rats's" at the end of the vid so...if you're the sick type that sits through the credits look out for that! Maybe I'll give you another update down the line to let you know which video has taken the wheel. Anyways, I'm gonna enjoy this celebratory horchata.

Parasite Eve 2 is an interesting choice! I remember very little about it compared to the first, but remember it being mechanically more rewarding. Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

The extra % of sense this game makes in Russian is at the end, where Belov says directly that he cloned Gorin to get him out of the deep freeze. Apparently all of the loose threads were meant to be resolved in a sequel that was never made. The translation overall is uneven, sometimes good, sometimes bad, but even where it's accurate it loses a lot of the tone and Russian-specific social references in manner and language that would be obvious to anyone over there, making the setting less coherent. The bewildering "What's an ID?" question was asked because a new form of required documentation was created during the lockdown, not because Gorin doesn't understand the concept. But don't worry—the overwhelming whiplash between the atmosphere and Gorin's commentary isn't some error but actually core to the style of the game. I'm also pretty sure that Black Oasis is a darker, more vulgar adaptation of Stanislaw Lem's Futurological Congress, too, if you want to check that out. Good vibes in this video. Thanks!
Love the confused energy in this one Also I can't believe you mentioned Corner Gas, that's such an insane Canadian deep cut. Used to watch that show all the time, my dad and I love it. It's a show entirely constructed around Canadians watching and clapping when they hear something so specifically Canadian mentioned. Like in one episode, to tell The Tragically Hip to leave his garage, Brent Butt tells them "Don't tell me what the poets are doing, just get out of here!" and it's like, you need to both know Canadian semi-classic rock band The Tragically Hip by their faces alone, and also the lyrics to one of their songs. Anyway, good pull, I cracked up at that
