Monthly Map Round Up: September
Happy first of the month team!
I just wanted to take a quick moment to look back on the month that we just had and all of the awesome maps we made together.
As many of you will know, in September we were revisiting the region of Havarrlan from our community setting: the Fallen Kingdom. This region is a rain soaked, boggy land of rivers and windswept moors.
Originally the site of a great elven kingdom it has long since fallen to a wave of invading humans known as the Havars. Inspired by a mixture of early Anglo Saxons and Vikings from our own world, we had plenty to work with!
The big thing I wanted to get across with the fleshing out of Havarrlan is how it is populated by a comparatively crude civilisation built on the ashes of a much more sophisticated culture.
Think Dark Age Europe after the fall of the Roman Empire.
Here is a quick screenshot of our Legend Keeper Page for Havarrlan, every point is a map that we have made so it's really starting to fill up!
Out of all of the maps for the month, Reavers' Landing was certainly the most complex…
Not only that but three additional maps: Hall of the Shields, High Forge & Swords of Havarr are all points of interest within the city so there is loads to explore!
Eardton Keep was a really cool project to work on, an ancient dwarven keep that was not only stolen by the invading humans but has been allowed to fall into a terrible state of disrepair under their watch!
The Lonely Tree was another suggestion straight from our Discord server and if the goal was to create a creepy tree with an even creepier dungeon underneath it that contains a vengeful forest spirit then I think we nailed it!
The Village of Ulfshjarta was the second settlement map from last month and was based on a reconstruction of a Viking Age fort that is large enough to be used as a battlemap and is begging to be sieged in my humble opinion.
Finally we come to battlemaps, of which there were many! Havarrlan being a land of rivers necessitated some more River Maps, of which we released 3….
And a Dragonship to sail up them!
For good measure we also released a Boggy Road for when your PCs need to do a bit of hard slogging through rough terrain.
We also released a River Bandit Camp for your players to sneak into / burn to the ground / take over (delete as needed :D)
And finally a rather dire looking drinking hole called Muddy River Tavern.
All in all a successful month I reckon!
