TIA TALK - The Rut

Ever feel like you're running on empty, but the world around you doesn't have the luxury of letting you stop? Welcome to my world.

Lately, I've found myself stuck in an emotional rut. Not quite sure how I got here, and even less sure how to climb out. But when you have so many lives depending on you, throwing your hands up and saying, "I quit!" isn't exactly an option. Especially when those lives have four legs, wagging tails, and absolutely no interest in your emotional baggage.

So, after some serious soul-searching (and probably a few conversations with myself), I've decided it's time to start thinking outside the box. I've come up with a little something that just might help me rediscover some happiness, recharge my spirit, and remind myself that there's still a life to be lived beyond the daily grind.

And don't worry, the dogs and cats aren't going anywhere. They're still the heart and soul of everything I do, and that will never change.

But maybe, just maybe, it's time I started taking care of the person who's been taking care of everyone else.

I am really glad you are doing something for yourself. You may want to check Do It On a Dime on Facebook. The woman has a ton of Dollar Tree hacks for home decorating.

I too have been inprisoned. I haven’t gone anywhere since 2016. my dreams were dashed and now the economy is so bad I can’t afford to go any where. Plus now I have a sick little beagle. He is on prednisone and has to go out every 2 hours or so. I did renovate my bedroom with pictures, new bedding etc. I like music and just picked up some new old stuff. I also came across a utube channel that has healing “music” for pets and people. It uses binaural beats and combines music, ocean sounds, rain fall sounds etc. It is super relaxing and we both fall asleep within a few minutes. The channel is called Merlin’s Realm. Best with ear pods or head phones but I need to keep an ear out for my boy so I just play it loud enough to hear the beats in the background. He sleeps soundly thru out the night. And it’s free. However one day I would like to be able to send him some $. Folks may want to check into merlin

Plus, i signed up to hear the " other" stuff. Not just rescue. I love the personal stuff. That's what patreon is for, in my opinion.

This is wonderful. I finally, at 60 plus years old, bought the bedspread I'd always wanted. It was so good for me. I researched for months, saved up and ordered it. I'd always put myself last and couldn't justify the expense. Yes, I'm a full time caregiver. I wanted something just for me. It's so worth it. I smile every time I walk into the room.

Hello I believe Tia can go on a vacation. Tia has to get people that she can trust or her kids.

You need to recruit Mariah as your interior designer! I think this isa fantastic idea and again, if you want a painting for the bedroom, let me know what you want! 💜

Property management! I have been doing it for 6 years and we have bought and renovated every proprty. We have went from 5 to 17 in 6 years. Im getting burnt out. I have 10 properties worth of tenants that reach out to me on my cell phone/google voice number. I feel like I never get a break. I feel like I am a baby sitter for tons of tenants.

As someone else mentioned about having a senior dog, I'm in that boat with my guide dog right now. He has bad arthritis and is closer to retirement than not. But when you have a service animal like a guide dog, it is 24/7 so you don't just up and leave them at home and go out for the day. If I leave him because he can't go places I need to now, I have to plan it out so he's only home 2-3 hours (very, very max 4 but I've never actually done that). I also took care of my mom for years starting as I was finishing college up until around the time I turned 40, as in she lived with me and physically relied on me. I wouldn't change either situation for anything, but they are taxing and take a toll when others rely on you. I've never been able to do much of anything without planning but I do long for when I get my new guide dog being able to do more again. Bottom line, we aren't in dog rescue, Tia, but many of us get it in our own ways and we're sending you love and good vibes! We are all human and sometimes life really likes to remind us of that just a little bit more than usual. P.S. When I moved to my new, smaller apartment in August the movers were staring at me while I tried to decide where to put my guide dog's crate in the bedroom because he's always slept in my room in his crate (that he loves) and I couldn't bare to put it just outside of the bedroom in the living room and wonder what that would do to him. So while the movers didn't get it, to me the most important thing was figuring out where my sidekick's place was (and when I get his successor soon, they will have that same spot with the crate). Everything else in the bedroom was just going to have to fit or if it didn't it would go to the dumpster. LOL

Such a great idea! Whatever it takes to alleviate depression- a healthy way- is priceless! Can't wait to see your sanctuary as you create it and I am sure your dogs will benefit from you helping yourself! You are an inspiration ✨️

If you can't take the time to make the journey pleasurable for yourself, why are you on the journey in the first place? Take the time ... make YOURSELF happy! That's perfectly understandable AND what you deserve!!!

I look forward to the journey. I hope you share photos before, during, and after, too. ........ I consider this a "dog" issue in reference to your earlier survey.
