"Rainbow In The Dark" (Dio) Solo Lesson/Analysis
Amazingly I've only managed to do 1 Dio solo so far here at the Guitar School (though admitedly there aren't too many iconic solos in his solo discography) so I figured it was about time to transcribe and teach this timeless classic!
I have to admit at first I really wasn't a fan of this solo as it's incredibly sloppy and improvised, but it definitely grew on me as I started to learn all the licks. This is definitely textbook 80s Metal slop at its peak, so if you're a fan of that style it's gonna be hard to top this one! This solo is completely diatonic and all of the shapes should be very familiar to you, so even though some of he licks are fast, it definitely shouldn't contain anything you haven't seen before.
Good luck and don't forget to share your progress with everyone in the Discord server!

The first time that I hear this solo it blew my mind, and I always kind of worship and put this in the most dificult rank of my metal solos tier. But now that I know the Am scale used for metal and the licks and speed that I developed over the years I am thinking now that it is not that difficult or I really improved my guitar skills.
Do you put much effort into matching your tone to the tone of the original recording or do you use your own sound for most things? I really liked your tone in this video. It sizzles.
Don't Talk To Strangers dude
