"No More Tears" (Ozzy Osbourne) Solo Lesson/Analysis
To commemorate the late, great Prince of Darkness I figured it was finally time to conquer this Ozzy classic. We've covered most of the iconic Randy Rhoads solos already here at the Guitar School so it's about time we showed some love to Mr Wylde!
I'd never actually tried to play this solo before and was actually quite surprised at how tricky it turned out to be. Getting all of the bends singing correctly and nailing the Blues licks in the 2nd section are pretty challenging - plus of course those alternate picking runs at the end are no f*cking joke! What I love about this solo is that there's something fun for players of all skill levels to sink their teeth into here.
It's also an awesome masterclass in solo-writing, with a very unusual, almost cinematic, Mixolydian feel throughout a lot of it.
Good luck and don't forget to share your progress with everyone in the Discord server!

To get into that feel I started way more easy, with Part 3 of the solo https://youtube.com/shorts/NZ2RkZtQJp0?is=YWCj1OjibosbE_9-
Cool solo, except the last lick, where I will use the simplified version :-) I’m a bit „harmonically confused“ about the beginning. You mention C# mixolydian, but how does the A major chord fit in there?
Basically just think about it like a regular C#m progression but the home chord is major instead of minor, then it makes a bit more sense!
Hi Bradley, can you do a video of intermediate legato licks?
Thanks for the idea!
tysm man, one of my fav solos ever. there's hardly any good tabs for it online too, your transcription is the best, as always :D
