7.1 surround sound fix for motherboards using ALC897 (msi B760 gaming+)
i recently got a new board MSI B760 Gaming+ WiFi DDR4 that uses ALC897. I specifically chose this board for 7.1 analog audio. YES i have proper 7.1 surround sound, not some squeeky stereo ..
just to find that this piece of crap board actually has only 5.1. surround sound jacks are as follows:
green = front
orange = center/subwoofer
gray = side
black = rear
but this board doesn'th ave gray, instead it has blue (line-in), so out of the box, surround does NOT work and installing their default drivers doesn't work either.
I had to modify old legacy drivers that still comes with proper "realtek HD audio manager", the good old panel that works flawlessly, i don't know WHY THEY ARE FUCKING IT UP FOR? it's AUDIO, there's NOTHING to update! just leave it alone!
as i have just demonstrated, legacy is better than this modern garbage trash.

it's actually not that hard, but it does require modifying of the old legacy driver so it would support new hardware, then you have to disable windows driver enforcement (enable test mode) and then you can install the modified drivers.

That same trick should work on other boards with same codec/chipset aswell.
.. seriously, companies need to stop screwing shit up, wtf is their problem? They take previously working thing and screw it til it's unuseable .. WHY? just WHYY?? can't they leave it alone? There's nothing wrong with old audio panel, why the fuck did they have to change it?
they expect me to go to microsoft store to download some shitty audio console that won't even load? bunch of clowns ...
I guess they never heard "DON'T FIX SOMETHING THAT ISN'T BROKEN!" .. they literally took fully working audio driver and panel and screwed it til it's no longer working ... FACEPALM 1000x

They break it so they have an excuse to sell you a fix. Why did M$ end support for Windows 7? To sell you 8 and 10. Why did M$ end support for Windows 10? To sell you 11. Why does my subscription come with ads? So we can encourage you to buy the subscription tier without ads. Why does my laptop just stop working after a few years? Because we intentionally build them to fail so you'll buy a new one in the future.
..except there's NOTHING to sell, realtek doesn't sell any paid packages, this is ALL there is. there's no paid package, there's no "better" version. they simply broke it and there's no working version. i don't think you fully understand what i was talking about, i'm talking about DRIVERS that go with their motherboard, there's nothing to sell, you buy the hardware from ebay or amazon or some other pc store and download drivers from their official site. i'm talking about their official driver, not some paid product. and this is cuz they are INCOMPETENT MORONS who like to take working things and break them. windows doesn't even compare, i can use win7 perfectly fine, i have xp on my old netbook and it works flawlessly. i'm not switching from win 10 til other companies completely drop support, but win 10 and win 11 are basically same, so i doubt win 10 stops working with latest programs til there's win 12. this "end support" only means updates and i have NEVER used updates anyways, this means nothing. all MSI had to do, is add ONE line into the package file like i did and old good driver + audio manager would have worked, but instead they decided to do 10x more work by making some "modern" driver that wastes disk space and doesn't even come with realtek hd audio manager... this is what i'm complaining about. they LITERALLY had to include ONE LINE of code to add support to hardware Id, but instead they screwed it up ... it's this OBSESSION with low IQed people who want to "modernize" things that don't need changing in the first place ... it fucking gets on my nerves. for example i use 2013 winamp and unless computers will have significant change on how audio works, i'm never going to change this. IT PLAYS MUSIC, that's its only purpose, there's NOTHING to change. as long as music is played from audio files like .mp3, there's no need to change anything. it plays music just the same as any "modern" program does. winamp got screwed aswell, i'm not touching those "modern" versions, they're just full of bloat and garbage and looks GIGANTIC. .. like for what? when i play music, i'm not fucking looking at it, so i want it to be MINIMALISTIC. it has programmable hotkeys and enough controls to adjust things. people need to STOP with their idiotic "updates" that do nothing other than break things ... just leave it the fuck alone! SHITcord is yet another example, all they do is "update" yet nothing ever changes. it's this trick to keep idiots amazed by updates, cuz idiots don't read patch notes and they don't test anything, they only see "update" and are like "WOW THIS PROGRAM IS SO GOOD BEACUSE IT HAS TO SO MANY UPDATES" ... bunch of retards...
