Simple AHK (autohotkey) script to toggle buttons
I've been playing the crew 2 a bit recently and i found some serious annoyances in there and stupid devs don't let you remap controls properly either. anyway 2 of the main issues i encountered, are in boat and air races.
boats have this trim up/down and planes have "extreme mode" which is basically just higher sensitivity and makes it easier to control, i guess for keyboard noobs it's necessary to turn it off cuz keyboard noobs keep overturning, but when playing professionally with controller, you want extreme mode to be on at all times, but it won't let you toggle it. same with trim up/down.
to make it easier and more playable, i just made toggle keys with autohotkey. most gaming keyboards have ability to make macros, but my keyboard doesn't have toggle button feature, so i had to resort to ahk.
In my script i made numpad1 toggle F13 and numpad2 toggle F14.
numpad0 suspends/resumes the script.
WHY you ask? because on some reason i couldn't get ahk to work with toggling normal keyboard buttons, something in my windows is instantly forcing the release of any toggled button, this smells like some "safety" feature, but i have no idea what it could be and i can't be arsed to debug it.
also on some reason when trying to use numpad1 toggling numpad1, then it cancels itself out, that's why i used F13 and F14 as those keys are not really used.
fortunently the crew 2 detects F13 and F14, so all i had to do is remap them. i play with controller, but i use those to toggle "trim up" on boat and "extreme mode" on plane, which makes it so much nicer to play as i don't have to physically hold the damn buttons down.
In case you didn't know, trim up on boat means that you will get a good speed boost at all times, at first i didn't realize why boats are so slow compared to bots, but you have to constantly hold trim up, that's why i put it on toggle.
ANYWAYS open the script with notepad++ and edit the hotkeys to your liking, it's super easy. you might have to look up the VK (virtual keyboard) codes that autohotkey uses if you want to use some odd keys. if you have any questions about how to replace them, feel free to PM me. (do not ask questions in comments as i rarely check comments).

No, dude. Not regular settings. There's an underlying meta around Pro Settings. If you don't adjust them properly, you won't fully be able to take advantage of the vehicle. I thought it was unnecessary as well, but I couldn't have won some Summits play without following the Pro Settings guidelines in the Summit guide.
How? You need to adjust pro settings. Go on YT and look up videos about adjusting pro settings. It's an underlying "meta". You can make boat movement slightly more sensitive, which makes you have to turn less aggressively. Definitely look into pro settings. LMK if it helps. I don't want to flood this with our discussion.
haha dude ... i'm not some retard, first thing i do is go thru game settings when i play. ofc i have done all that, it won't change the fact that you have to hold the trim to have any chance of winning vs ace. maybe if you have all skills maxed, then it's easier, but otherwise you need to hold trim. with plane extreme mode is not necessary, but it makes it much easier for sure.
Well, for boats and bikes, it's the L-stick down to trim / lean. For planes, it's X IIRC. If that's not default, then I changed them pretty early on in my TC2 career and totally forgot about it.
yeah for boat it's left analog up/down, but how do you constantly hold it down thruout entire race while also steering? there are 3 issues with it: 1) you can't fully turn left/right while also fully trimming, cuz it would go like 75% turn and 75% lean, it wouldn't be 100% turn nor lean 2) my finger starts to slip off while trimming and it's hard to make precision turns while holding trim 3) my finger starts to hurt after like 10 races and it becomes difficult holding it. i don't know how you can hold X while also holding right analog up (acceleration), that's not possible. i hold my right thumb on right analog, not on x. i set it to right trigger, but RB is also yaw right, which i need to use. i can't put 2 fingers on controller's should, cuz this prevents me from making precision movements, controller starts to slip down and i have to grip it harder, which makes my muscles twitch a bit, which makes it impossible to make precision movements. it's just not possible holding the buttons 24/7 while flying or driving the boat. i'm shocked that devs didn't add option to toggle those features. but then again crew 2 is arcade.
Oh snap. You're playing TC2? And using AHK? I took made a macro to toggle that mode on, but after playing TC2 for so many years, I just got used to driving / flying while holding it down. Nice work though. I can compare it to mine to see why Numpad1 isn't working. I've been able to use my macro on two laptops without issues.
holding buttons down is impossible, you must be using some weird controls. on boat it's quite liteally impossible, cuz when i corner, i can't hold analog left/right + down at same time, if i move analog to right/left, it can't go down at same time, i can try holding it under angle, but then it's like 75/75 on both axis.
