Pedro Pascal
Doesn't it feel like Pedro Pascal is everywhere? Fantastic Four, The Mandalorian, The Last of Us, Game of Thrones... even a Spy Kids movie (kind of). It's just like Chris Pratt a few years back (and still): wherever you look, there he is.
I tried to bring that idea into one of this absurd, nerd, weird comics I've been doing lately. What would happen in the characters in the comic were not really characters but actors playing the characters? And what if one of them was Pedro Pascal? After all, he is everywhere –he is Pedro ******* Pascal 😅
Contrary to the idea that the comic may imply, I don't care much about numbers or visitors in comiCSS, to the point that the site does not have any analytics or trackers. I still get some data from third party things (# of followers in social media, reactions, # of results in Google console, etc.) which could be used to check what comics do better, but it's more of a secondary thing. I do this for fun.
The celebrity cameo is also an small attempt to diversify the comic a little. Still with CSS as a main thread and connector, but now that it is easier to create the comics (a lot of work there to do though), it may be a good idea to expand the topics and pick up some pace. Sometimes I struggle looking for CSS topics, especially when I want to do something more "educational." I had this idea in the past to include some developers (check old posts about it), and this is a little step in that direction.
About the Pedro Pascal's caricature, it is based on Dennis Salvatier's MCU Fantastic Four:
The name of the author and a link to the Dribbble drawing are available on the source code (both in the HTML and CSS), to cite the source.
The version I did of Pedro Pascal has a ridiculously big head compared to the body. That's on purpose. I initially thought about making it smaller (still big), but I found hilarious the idea of having such a huge head inside a mask for a small headed character. Again, my weird kind of humor.
As for the library, after using it for a few comics, I am starting to see some limitations. For example, I created positions in multiples of 5, which seemed like a good idea at the time (20 classes instead of 100), but it restrains the layouts considerably. And something similar applies to the folds and rotations.
Considering that part of it is generated with JS (darned HTML5 components and their dependency on external languages), maybe I could process the data attributes and add inline styles on the fly instead of bloating the CSS file with hundreds and hundreds of options. I need to go back to the drawing board.
Until the next comic!
