Here it is. The first of it's kind: a straight line mission race across a country. Fine, an independent British crown dependency.
A year ago I agreed to race Archie and Adam Fieldhouse in return for their kind gesture to let me go first in Wales. In December it happened. 10 miles across mountains, freezing lakes and farmland, full of excitement, drama, pain and even an angry local.
The question is, who will come out on top? With more fitness (than Archie) and more straight line experience I fancied myself as favorite, but anything can happen in a race...

I loved it Tom. I do think that these races should be done on the same line, you were definitely at a disadvantage on your line in comparison.

Got to hand it to you man, not only are you fitter than I will ever be, but you have an uncanny knack of winning people over with honesty and humility. You took that chap (who was an absolute gent) from "well I don't give a shit about that" and threatening to call the police to giving you tips on how to get down to the bottom.
Oh I have been waiting for this one! My boyfriend and I met you when you were done with this one, at the restaurant you sat down at. Just wanted to say that it was awesome to meet you and that we regret everyday we didn't buy you both a drink.

For us Americans wondering, there are no snakes in the Isle of Man. I live in Kentucky, and if this would have been me doing a similar mission here, midway through you would see me running and screaming with about a dozen snakes attached to various parts of my body flapping in the wind behind me.
Switch routes and do a rematch! That’s the only way to truly measure this against each other (maybe give the home owner a heads up, possibly a nice bottle of wine too). Bring bananas this time.
Madly enough bananas are the one food I can't stomach! they make me wretch uncontrollably. I tried to eat one in the car afterwards and decided cramp was the better option.
