Tenner in my pocket PART 2
Thanks for your patience with this one folks. Took me about 7 attempts at rendering this on Adobe Premiere but it finally worked. Anyway, I'm hoping you'll think it was worth it!
As usual let me know your thoughts in the comments :)
**Watch with subtitles and in 4K for best results**
This summer I grabbed a sleeping bag, stuffed a tenner in my pocket and walked north from my front door into the countryside for as long as fate deemed necessary. The adventure continues and ends with this second instalment, but by no means does the excitement fade. Join me as I meet more generous country folk; obtaining more food and water along the way, get charged by multiple livestock and land myself an extraordinary night's sleep..
The quest for food & shelter intensifies and the country folk of Staffordshire deliver. (YouTube)

Did think given your starting point you may hit Alton Towers or the surrounding places. The real Staffordshire countryside is a lovely part of the country.
You're my Anti-banana bro Tom!
while your straight line missions are certainly more challenging, I loved this easy going series so much! It really shows the simple pleasures in life. makes me keen to get out to just wander about in spring .
I loved this series. Still think How NOT to travel America is my *fav* youtube series of ALL TIME from *any* youtuber, would love to see more of that kinda thing...
Seems like such a strange coincidence, but I'm sure the guy called Adam who gave Tom a bed and a few pints is the friend of another guy on patreon I follow called straybob, they did a trail across Jordan together.
I think I speak for many when I say I would love a series like this. I understand the logistics get more difficult if your starting point is far, but Wales, Scotland, Denmark etc when it warms up would be excellent. It has "how to not travel Europe" vibes
Watched it twice now. This particular format gives me the same comforting vibes that Detectorists gives me, my favourite tv show. It's hard to even put into words. The nods to Tolkien in the first episode (which, being a similar age to you, was also my first inspiration into adventuring the outdoors), the music, the commentary, the scenery. Perfect. Going to be embarking on my own version of this when the weather cheers up.
Loved this one! Me and my ex gf from Birmingham went on a weekend trip to the Peak District a few years ago. Seeing the meadows and picturesque pubs with their beer gardens was a trip down memory lane for me. So thanks for that mate. Adventures don't always have to be thrilling in order for them to be an adventure! I would love to just walk out my front door and walk into the country side, problem is here in Belgium the countyside isn't as widespread! Always lovely in the Ardennes though, lots of woods, rivers and fields to explore. Oh and how could I forget.. lots of great fkin beers to indulge yourself in over here, in case you hadn't heard. 😉 Keep on keeping on wizard of Geo 🌍🪄
I loved this so much! More please 😁
Videos like this are the reason I subsribed to you Tom. Can't wait for the next year's adventures. Safe travels and merry Christmas to you and Verity.
Really enjoyed this adventure, would love to see something similar but larger scale perhaps something like start at lands end and see how far you can make it with £100
I loved this! Something about the english countryside that is so charming. The whole feeling of the adventure reminds of the show 'detectorists'. Would defo recommend. Thanks for the great content as always!
I nearly fell off my chair when I saw Adam! I'm subbed to another adventure channel (Straybob) and have watched a full set of videos where Adam and Bob hike the 400Km Jordan trail. Then here you are, strolling through the countryside and of all the people in all the pubs, you found Adam! What are the chances! Also, for anyone who likes Tom's content, I would definitely suggest Straybob's Jordan or India adventure series: https://youtu.be/zRNQWQGTRHU?si=swFw2JTnW8xG3wzi Cheers for another great adventure Tom, I hope you, Adam and Bob can link up to do one together one day!
Thoroughly enjoyed this man, so good.
This is incredible, I actually find this even more relaxing and entertaining than your straight line missions. Please, please do more of these.
Brilliant as per usual! Top work
So inspiring
Sucks to be watching this in winter, it's giving me itchy feet.
Oiski Poiski!
In the theme of British adventures, and you mentioned your love of canals in the first part... Would you consider doing a river/canal from start to finish/source to mouth kind of video.. River Severn maybe? Stopping at pubs in towns lining the route from Wales down to Bristol
What a fantastic video, Tom. You’ve certainly inspired me to get out today, even though it’s just taking the bike to work. Thanks for pointing out the good people and the joy that can be had along the way.
great stuff tom!
Love love these adventure videos! A mission through Germany some day would be awesome
It's always nice to see that a new video is online ! Hope to see you some day in adventure here in France !
I’ll watch it later when I get home, my phone can’t do the full screen effect I love about your videos so much, my phone just squishes it into a 4:3 ratio. I was roughly following the route you took in Part 1 on Google Earth, looking at the country north of C Leigh I’m going to predict the initial direction you take north before I push play on Pt 2 tonight. You head north from the village across some fields, over a country lane, past a farm or property, down a hill towards the A50 and use a footpath underpass to your advantage to get under the A50, and end up in the next village of Checkley and from there it’s into the Staffordshire Moorlands. If I’m correct I’ll down the last of my Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey Liqueur that currently resides on my Mum’s gin shelf. Haha
oo close!
Thanks for this, really enjoyed it :)
Oh man, this has to be one of my favorite adventures yet!! Please consider doing a longer one! almost like a how not to travel Britain.
Agree!
Incredible as always!
You're an inspiration Tom, you had me laughing a few times, especially in the pub, it was very wholesome
Wonderful again!
Absolutely loved watching this adventure! This has inspired me to do something similar next summer, I've always thought about doing a 'from your front door' adventure and seeing this has made me want to finally do it!
You should consider doing a similar adventure here in Sweden.
Class video Tom, I bloody love this type of content, such an enjoyable watch after work.
brilliant
The plum throw and the expression is golden!!
I really think you're onto something with this type of adventure Tom, such a relaxing and enjoyable watch, much like how not to travel USA/Europe and the football across England challenge. This is bringing back so many memories of hiking the South Downs Way a couple of years ago its giving me goosebumps. The early morning mist, the spectacular views, the stress of finding water, the sardines.... But honestly this is fantastic, this style has so much scope to take further, especially with your running fitness you can cover some real ground on this amazing island of ours. Thanks for the content Tom, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you Verity and the Family.
Excellent, something to look forward to after work :) woke up thinking it was already Thursday. Hope you all have a great Christmas break
Merry Christmas Tom, thanks for the wholesome content for yet another year.
Morning! Can’t wait to watch this after work tonight. Merry Christmas to you and Verity, and all the best for the New Year ☃️🎄
Get in!
