The best adventure you’ll ever have is right on your doorstep [3 days in Snowdonia]

Evening Patreons! I haven't died. This just took me longer to make than planned, but hopefully it's worth it!

(good subtitles available)

I'm on a quest to inspire the nation to fall in love with the great outdoors, but it dawned on me recently that I might be failing. After all, not everyone wants to be chased by a farmer or get lost in a sewer. I needed to strip things back to basics, so this summer I grabbed a tent, a sleeping bag and a few other bits and set off into the mystical landscapes of Snowdonia for what is probably my all time favorite style of adventure: Three days of hiking through nature, finding great wild camping spots, indulging in some wild swimming and wild cooking, and ending up at a cosy pub.

In some ways this is quite a big departure from my usual jaunts - there's less danger or jeopardy involved (although still a fair bit), but I'm really hoping that by the time you've watched it you'll have a new found appreciation for this magical place, and maybe even a new perspective on what it means to embark on an epic adventure.

This is going out to YouTube tomorrow btw. I know a fair few of you Patreons are already big outdoors lovers, in which case I hope you enjoyed watching anyway!😊

Would love to do the same route. Is there anyway to find it on OS Maps? Or will I have to do some Geodetective route planning myself? Haha!

G
GeoWizard · November 12, 2025

I've chosen not to make this route public Callum, sorry mate. Yeah you'll have to indulge in a bit of geo detective haha

Starting to get cold out in the US where I live, but this still makes me want to get out for a weekend and roam. Much love Tom, safe adventuring! Can't wait for the next vid.

Last time I did Snowdon, it pissed it down the whole time, couldn’t see a thing. Worst part was discovering the cafe at the top was closed! Still somehow a stunning memory. PS, I literally only have Patreon to watch your stuff. -Your weird fangirl from the midlands. ✌️

Wow I looked up and listened to Steeleye Span's Below the Salt after Shazaming them from this video. They are so fascinating and just really cool and unique. If you want to listen to a wonderful medieval Baroque prog rock album from 1977 I can't recommend Jethro Tull's Songs from the Wood enough! And hearing the woman singing in those songs just reminded me so much of the band Renaissance. They are another baroque rock band from the 70s. They use a ton of 12 string, and even full orchestras in their late 70s albums. They also have a female vocalist with an absolutely stunning voice. I truly believe they are the single most underrated band of all time. If you want more medieval folk style check out their album "A turn of the cards" and if you want to hear orchestral folk rock listen to "Day of the Dreamer," and "A song for all seasons." Just thought I'd return the favor and suggest some truly great music i think you'd love, since through your videos I found Pure Prairie League, Wishbone Ash, and now Steeleye span! Cheers!

You aren't using the good subtitles? Every song is named in them

Looks like you went down the Pyg track then in the end. Ran down that several times in UTMB Eryri. Horrible 🤣

I happened to read about the Radio 2 DJ Sara Cox and her upcoming challange to hike 135 miles in 5 days - and her journey starts in the Kielder Forest. They should have consulted you on the route as you have some familiarity with that place! Love your videos Tom.

Just thought id share that your videos have indeed inspired me personally, your Tenner in my pocket in particular has inspired me to begin saving for a trip to walk the Cornish coastal path, a bit of a daunting task for an American but I loved the insight into the area your video shared.

D
Dustin Geddes · November 3, 2025

That path looks like heaven doesn't it?

W
Wulfruna · November 2, 2025

Great hike, thanks for sharing. And you are so right - those are the moments we will remember (.. . and I know for I am quite near the "remembering stage" of life at nearly 60 ,-) ...).

Just want to point out in case it's important (not really), but around the 8:38 mark the video and the sound just disappears for a bit until 8:44. Love the adventure mate.

Recently went overnight camping with a friend, definitely something I'll remember for years to come instead of spending the night in front of a screen. Appreciate you trying to get more people out!

Good to hear from you! We've been looking forward to more Tom and were getting slightly worried about you. Can't wait to watch tonight <3

Amazing video Tom. Do you think it will ever be possible to 'Hit a golf ball across the U.K'? As a golfer and a fan of the football version.. I think a golf one would be interesting!

G
GeoWizard · November 3, 2025

That would be insane. You'd have to hit it with quite small shots in the UK I think so as not to lose it. But maybe I could cross a more arid, deserty country whilst hitting it hard? definitely potential!

L

I was not aware that Wales looks this stunning! I've always really wanted to do something like this in the black forest (or somewhere else in Germany), and this just hardened my resolve to do it next spring or summer. Thanks for the great video.

Literally perfect timing Tom, I have been itching for one of your adventure videos for a while and it came the day before I was considering going out on a hike to just get out of the house but second guessing myself for stupid reasons. Well this settles it, definitely going out tomorrow now! And it goes without saying as usual fantastic video and vibes from you and Ben, cheers lads

Having walked through the Snowdown national park as part of my 400 mile charity walk last year I’m certainly going to look forward to watching this later! An amazing part of the world it is!

M
Metalkiddo · November 1, 2025

Actually Tom, I have a question. I always feel so inspired watching your videos and think to myself, what if I documented an adventure of mine and post it online. I havent made any plans as of now, but if it come to the day, where I will make such a video; eould you be okay with it, since I feel like you are "the father" of these adventurous outdoor videos / straight line missions?

J
Jeff Erickson · November 1, 2025

Just get out there. Don't worry about documenting it.

A
Ashnakag · November 1, 2025

Now this is a wonderful notification to get! Happy to see you post man, was almost scared you had tripped and fell between some fallen trees or something 😉. Will watch the video tomorrow!
