God this cape coat is to die for. How much yardage did you end up using?
This turned out amazingly and I love your fabric choice. Thanks for showing how to join those epic sleeves to the back princess seam. I'm obsessed by another McQueen epic sleeved coat, the tiger red & gold kimono coat from Angels & Demons.
Looks fabulous! I'm trying to figure out how to get me some cape drama while wearing a sling bag purse 🤔. I ended up relegating my vintage boiled wool 3/4 length cape to being a (very attractive) emergency car blanket because I walk away from handbags too easily to wear it.
Personally, when it comes to travel I often go for a small cross body purse, and I wear it underneath my coat for extra security while on public transport 😅
Wauw this is amazing can't wait to also try and make it
Thank you!
Fabulous, love, love, love it.
Lovely. So pretty.
Thank you Karla!
Holy cannoli Bianca, this is friggin amazing! I would love to make this, but it was the equivalent of 103 Fahrenheit here (39 degrres Celsius) and the thought of even touching any fabric heavier than a spiderweb makes me feel like I'm melting! But I definitely feel like this is in my wintery future dreams
Thank you Amie! This is why I must live in cold/dreary areas of the world, I love heavy clothes 🤣
Oh my goodness Bianca, you have outdone yourself!!! 🤩🤩 This is FABULOUS!!!! 😍😍😍
Thank you Lynne!
Gorgeous! I need one...
Thank you Ivy! Gotta have a capecoat!
FLAMAZING.
Fabulous. I was thinking less Darth Vader and more glam priest :) As someone who has spent hundreds of hours flying, that is the perfect coat for it. Warm enough for comfort but keeping your lower arms free. Now I need to make up the pattern I have.
Thank you Cheryl! Priestess of online shopping here to bless brooch browsing 😂✨
This coat is so epic! Fantastic job! One of these days, i would love to see you do a video on collars and the different styles of collar. I think that would help a ton!
Thank you Kathy!
Beautiful! I love the running commentary. I am just beginning to learn pattern drafting, and simple things, like an extra half inch of seam allowance for ease in a coat, are valuable insights for me. Yes to the protractor!
Thank you Janet! The protractor shall remain and flourish 😂✨
Wowzers it's soooooo gorgeous! It really suits you! Thank you 😊 for sharing ❤️
Thank you!!
Holy hot cakes! That black and white photo of the hounds tooth cape lives in my marrow! I've been (slowly) working on a pattern for it, and can't thank you enough for showing us your process. The weight of the attached cape on the seams has been troubling me, and it was good to see your solution to that. Gorgeous as always 😍
Thank you! That 30's cape is indeed gorgeous 🤩
this coat is absolutely fabulous 🤩🤩🤩 the interlining makes it so beautifully professional looking. And very appropriate for houshunting. 😉
Thank you Diana!
Yes to the protractor. OPI ‘Emotions’ is the perfect nail polish to coordinate with your fabric - textured black sparkly one that looks like new road. Definitely Star Wars vibes with this coat.
If anyone is interested in making a shorter similar piece you could try Butterick 6603 which I believe is still available on their website
Hey, I know you from Discord! And Vogue 9288 is the double-breasted version
