Early Access: Making a Brown Brocade Beetle Blazer π
Hello there! I'm still in California for another couple of days, but I wanted to get this week's upcoming Thursday video out to you all a little early. I managed to make it to Mood Fabrics in Los Angeles this weekend for a browse, and I found a few little vintage gems too, so I'll fill you in via the podcast the day I get back π β¨
Thank you so much for your support!

I need to make some beetles! And definitely would love to see more variations of this jacket
Thank you Rachael!
Loved the making of the felt beetle buddies and enjoyed the background music. The suit is stunning, just like you!
This would be fabulous in lace!! I recently went to an entomology exhibit wearing my enormous roses dress...but this suit would have been perfection xxxxxx
Thank you Alexandra! Sounds equally interesting and creepy to me πͺ²β¨
I really like the thought of the lace over lay! YESYESYES! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Thank you Marcie! Happy holidays!!
So pretty! Makes me wish I had the patience to add beaded insects to my makes.
Thank you Mary!! πͺ²
Gorgeous!! And lace β¦ ??? Please!
Thank you Debra!
I'd love to see how you make "this Buddy" in lace too. Lace fabric is very intimidating.
I agree lace is daunting, but probably worth it π β¨
I bet we were in Mood within hours of each other! π Enjoy your trip!
It's a lovely place, a good think I don't live too close or I'd be there too often π
Bugs..bugs...glorious bugs.........spectacular ππ€ππ€ππ€π
Thank you Raelene!
I would love to see this in lace. I have a question. When you added the darts on the jacket, why would you not clip away the extra fabric? Just curious π
Thank you Sandy! If a dart's fullness isn't very large I never bother to trim it away, if I was working with say- a very bulky wool I might maybe!
Oooo I'd love to see "this buddy" (TM Bianca) in lace. It's an intimidating medium, and watching sewists turn it from smooshy egg white to meringue is proof of alchemy. Each time you share your beetles, I think of Egyptian scarabs with their glossy chitinous shells. Alien and gorgeous!
Thank you!! Yeah lace intimidates me as well, but I have a pretty stable one in black with little iridescent sections so it's begging to be made really πβ¨
