Absolutely gorgeous. I think that you need to make the matching jacket! You could close in the shoulder but still have the off the shoulder look of the button banding. xxxxx

Thank you Alexandra! I went with Thierry Mugler for the jacket, but a Dior jacket will need to happen eventually ✨😂

I'm feeling your recent pain, Bianca. I just had to pay a large, unexpected tax bill for my homeowners' insurance. I needed the blue patterning table of doom & some beautiful silk in my life. Thank you.

The Closet Historian · September 27, 2023

Ouch I'm sorry Heidi! It's no fun at all 😫

Love the skirt . The flounce is perfect and so fun. I would be twirling and swooshing every where 😅

I see Leonard, our pumpkin friend from last year. Hello Leonard! 🎃Beautiful skirt, Bianca!

I just watched your last year's pumpkin carving video during my lunch break and, what was I thinking, this isn't Leonard! My apologies to the little squeaker pumpkin on your set. He/she is adorable!🎃

Hello, new patron here! We really DO get treats here don't we. I love the colour of that silk and you found the perfect thing to make with it. Absolutely stunning! I prefer yours to the Dior.

T
The Closet Historian · September 27, 2023

Thank you Caniko!! I'm so in love with this silk 🤩 I hope the jacket looks as glowy on camera too ✨

Hi, What lovely things yo make. I also love the skirts and the material. Thank you for taking me/us (as always I have a problem speaking for anyone, but myself) along. I still love your videos. You have been noticed, by the way. I hear other Youtubers mention you these days. Congratulations on how you have grown your channel the way you have. No product placements, no influencer drama, but very organically, developing as time goes by. I will be with you for a fair bit longer, I'm afraid. I'll try to curtail my comments to every few new installments, as a compensation for giving you a dissertation to read, every time I do comment. Inadvertently, by the way, you helped me solve a problem that I had. The solution is so easy when you know it. Thank you. The problem? How to make a half circle skirt from yardage (well meter-age really) cut by somebody that lives and breathes sewing, for me, who is a fair theoretical sewer, but with gaps in my practical knowledge that you can drive a double-decker bus through. Solution? Tape enough paper together to make a quarter circle at the right length, pin it to the fabric, and cut. As I said, easy when you've figured it out. Again, thank you. You got me out of my mental block. Apparently, according to the shop assistant, I needed 2 meters of heavy Ponte, or Courtelle as they want to call it, to make a ballroom training skirt. The fabric has 71% viscose in it, but for some reason it goes boing, boing, boing, if you move the fabric up and down, in any orientation. It has 3% of spandex in it, so that might account for the boinging in the very heavy fabric, perhaps. I can't see this as a practice skirt, myself. So if anyone reading this has any idea about what I can make out of two meters (two yards and a bit), 150 cm (59"), of boinging, very heavy black fabric, please enlighten me🥺. I'm completely stumped. Yours, Ann

Hey Ann! My favorite work-pants are from courtelle jersey - really comfortable and squat- and bend- friendly but they still look stylish and not like pajamas. It helps that they have welt pockets in the back and a zip fly. Just a thought!

That silk is gorgeous! As is your tattoo, I found myself watching your arm not your drafting, distracting in a good way 😀.

T
The Closet Historian · September 27, 2023

Thank you Jinny! I hope I can get my hand touched up this year, darn tattoo artist moved to California 😅❤

Laura Heckman · September 21, 2023

That yellow silk is gorgeous! 😍 And the extra full flounce on the brown skirt is so fun, makes me want to sew a skirt like this out of a really lightweight fabric so I can see just how full a circle I can get away with before it's too much!

T
The Closet Historian · September 27, 2023

Thank you Laura! It's only too much when it becomes annoying to sew, patience is the only limit! 😂

*Mentally files away this technique for a potential future formalwear project* Thank you for another fantastic tutorial! That silk looks amazing!

T

Thank you Laurel! I'm so pleased with the rich shine of the yellow silk on camera 🤩

Love the flounce! Your enthusiasm is so freaking contagious! I need to go into my craft room and sew something now. Thank you so very much for sharing.

I love the blouse you're wearing in the intro/outro! Also, those copper shoes are gorgeous, but that skirt....oh my goodness, it is beautiful! The drape and "swoosh factor" are perfect! If I had any sort of need for skirts in my life, I'd make this because it's just so pretty!

T
The Closet Historian · September 27, 2023

Thank you Jen! I might have to make a purple one of these sometime too ✨

E
Eleventh Hour Panic Productions · September 21, 2023

That drape was *absolutely* worth the inevitable tedium of the lining and interlining. 🤩

T
The Closet Historian · September 27, 2023

Gotta have some swoosh!
