Making 1940's Cargo Trousers // Adventure Ready ✨

Today I'm copying the pockets and ankle tab detailing off of some Banana Republic trousers and adding them onto my favorite 1940's trouser pattern!

I made these specifically for the upcoming Verdigris lookbook, they are part of the opening look (there is an all trouser more masc opening set of looks 😅✨), but I am excited to wear them this summer in general. I also made one of those hooded scarf things I made for Synapse in a fancy fancy wool boucle and had to hand stitch the whole thing but it was worth it ❤️ I still have a bunch more looks to film for the video and several epic projects coming, but a bit of embroidery to finish up too before it can all come together.

Thank you so much for your support and I'll be back shortly with this month's podcast!

You make it look so easy to not only make but modify. I tried to make pants. they never fit so I gave up. This video inspires me to try again. Keep up the great work!

Thank you Thomas! I got SO lucky with this 1940's trouser pattern, they worked pretty well right out of the gate on me which was pure happenstance!

These are awesome! Definitely a huge upgrade from the standard boring cargo pants I wear for adventures outside.

Thank you Marie! All the pockets are time consuming, but satisfying to sew as well 😅🧵

I am also trying to make trousers currently. I want high waisted with a side zip too. Thank you for showing us how.

How did you know I was looking for cargo pants? Also, fellow sapphic ace here so [secret handshake]

I do love a cargo, it's the little part of me that wanted to become an archeologist coming through maybe 😂💎

Love these! Great job!! As a busy, active mom, I hardly ever wear dresses or skirts. Only a few times a year. I will never stop watching any of your videos cuz you're too awesome, but I am partial to trouser videos. I am super short, only 5 feet tall, so taught myself how to sew in high school so I could hem my own bottoms. And I branched out from there over time. These look great on you, and love the practicality. The color is great!

Living in central Scotland, at 5'4" I'm taller than average! (Another reason for you to come to Scotland ;-) )

The reasons to go to Scotland are numerous indeed! A most excellent place ❤️

With matching long stockings, these would make excellent cross-country ski pants! Love your chatty videos. Thank you!

My legs ache just thinking about putting skis back on, it's been too many years and I am in no shape! It is super fun though ✨

I once went through a needle-breaking phase where I wore safety goggles every time I sat down at the machine. Finally realized I was stressing the needle every time I took the fabric back out, and after a while it was bent enough to hit the plate. Now I remove the fabric to the left so the foot takes the thread pressure and haven't broken a needle since. Love the cargo trousers!! They turned out lovely, burgundy is such a great color!

Thank you Alicia! I need to work with burgundy more often 💜✨
