Dispatch no. 36 - Updates Podcast

Race to a finish line? Who, me?

It's crunch season again as I try to finish up some fun projects before I leave for London soon. Speaking of which, for next month's dispatch: Do you want a podcast like this as usual, or do you want a video update/vlog from London? Let me know!

Hey there, love everything you do... Just had a thought... Will you be making a lookbook to go along with each novel you publish? And will these patterns be graded and available... May as fabric kits.

Lynn Hamilton · April 11, 2023

Oooo vlog from my home town please. Not sure if it will ease or agitate my homesickness! 🫣

M
Marcie Nelson · April 5, 2023

Only vlog or whatnot if you absolutely feel the need to share & it gives you joy or makes you smile 😃!

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

Thanks Marcie!

L
Lilit Penrod · April 3, 2023

Enjoy your time! I'm actually listening to this on my own flight to London lol edit: I am indeed the only person I can see on this flight wearing a mask, so I guess the rumors are true.

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

Thank you! I hope you have an excellent time as well! But goodness, N95 at the ready 😩

M
Mary Artberry · April 1, 2023

I would love a video, but I also want you to have a vacation (if only so I can live vicariously through you). Maybe if instead of vlog it was B-roll of sites with voiceover, kinda like that one Side Husslin you did with a park/garden? It sounds easier to edit.

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

I indeed prefer a b-roll voiceover combo, as vlogging in public is scary 😂❤

Rachael Ellis-Ingamells · March 31, 2023

Enjoy London, it’s one of my favourite places to visit. Make sure you take time for yourself and don’t worry about vlogging or updates, it’s your holiday but if you do vlog , any format is good for me. Whatever is easiest for you! Plus you new haircut is gorgeous!

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

Thank you Rachael! London is the best ❤

V
Victoria Golos · March 30, 2023

I agree w/ some of the comments that you should relax and enjoy London; but selfishly, I would love an UpdateVlog from your Across The Pond adventures.

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

Adventures it shall be!

Lizzie Knits and Stitches · March 29, 2023

Hi Bianca, I haven’t been yet but Eltham Palace in Greenwich is meant to be lovely. It is a Tudor mansion but lots of the interiors are art deco :-)

L
Lizzie Knits and Stitches · March 29, 2023

The fashion historian Amber Butchart has done a video on it with English Heritage https://youtu.be/A1-_MJwH-CI

S
Sarah · March 28, 2023

My preference is that you enjoy your vacation and let yourself relax and be present in the London. So up to you if a vlog or podcast is easier to fit in. Hope you enjoy your vacation!

L
Lizzie Knits and Stitches · March 29, 2023

Yes I think the same :-)

S
Stacy Wheeler · March 28, 2023

If you’ve never been, the Wellcome Museum was a great way to spend a couple of hours (if medical history interests you).

J
Jennifer Wilder · March 28, 2023

Check out the Dennis Severs house in Spitalfields. Brian Selznick’s book “The Marvels” is a fictional reimagining about how the house/museum/performance art piece came to be.

K
Kateřina Urbanová · March 28, 2023

Just started to listen, but Yaay for Vlog!

Z
Zoe Agashae · March 28, 2023

Vlog! Yaaay London! But only if you do it adhoc not spending eons editing because vacation!!

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

Editing will happen when I get back so no worries on that account!

P
Penny Johnson · March 28, 2023

You could always just go with the flow and play it by ear, do what feels best when you’re there.😀

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

Ha! I can only plan, planning is how I combat at least some anxiety 😅❤ My friends usually hate how un-spontaneous I am

P
Pauline Graf · March 28, 2023

Enjoy your time in London. A podcast or a vlog would be great but absolutely secondary to you enjoying to the fullest.

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

Thank you Pauline! ❤

C
Concetta · March 28, 2023

I appreciate that you asked if we’d like a podcast or vlog. My choice would be that you enjoy EVERY SECOND of your adventure!

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

Ha! I will endeavor to both enjoy myself and film some of it ✨

R
Rae · March 28, 2023

Either podcast or vlog would be amazing, but please choose whichever is easiest and enjoy your vacation to its fullest!! Travel safely and have a delicious cocktail for us!

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

Thank you Rae!!

M
Melody McMath · March 27, 2023

Just go an have an enjoyable time. If you feel like sharing, a blog of vlog would be lovely.

D
Denise Vitale · March 27, 2023

Vlog from London would be fabulous. You will be going to some great places that I will probably only see in your videos. BTW, you look great in your new haircut.

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

Thank you Denise!

Heather Gregg · March 27, 2023

Are you going to the Sir John Soane's Museum? It was his house and he was the COLLECTOR of all collectors and the place is amazing. I had never heard of it before I went. I haven't been in London in 20 years so I'd love to see a vlog but you should enjoy your time there first and foremost!

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

It's quite close to where I'll be staying so definitely! I'm not sure they allow filming though, so I'll have to double check 😩

A
Anna · March 27, 2023

If you've never been before, I totally recommend Eltham Palace. It's in SE London, and it's a medieval palace that is a shrine to the 1930s and its gorgeous and utterly ridiculous. Other art that I've seen recently that I've loved are: - Alice Neel @ The Barbican (just time it so you finish up with happy hour at the Barbican martini bar at 5pm) - Mike Nelson @ The Hayward - Magdalena Abakanowicz @ the Tate Modern - If you’re already at the Horniman, then you’ll also be near Dulwich Picture Gallery which has some amazing masters (including a Jan van Huysum) I don’t know what kind of food you like, but I can totally recommend the proliferation of amazing (and usually pricey) restaurants making super affordable set lunch menus (something that apparently happened in response to the pandemic). My favourites have been: Honey & Smoke (Gt Portland St), Kolamba (Kingly St), and Quality Chop House (Farringdon Rd). Brixton and Peckham in South London are the best places to find yourself hungry without a restaurant booking, but if you want to spoil yourself then I can totally recommend dinner at Elliot's in Borough Market. Have the best time! London has just burst into blossom and the sun is finally out after a dark winter, and it's gorgeous (even if we’re set for April showers).

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

Thank you Anna! I shall look into all the things!!

J
Julie Tokumaru · March 27, 2023

I like your new hair cut too. I find going from long to short can be frightening but also very freeing. I used to do it every 3 or 4 years.

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

Thank you Julie!

J
Julie Tokumaru · March 27, 2023

I love the video, but a podcast is lovely too. I will probably never get the chance to go to London, so seeing it through you lens would be wonderful.

A
Alexa · March 27, 2023

Oooo the Horniman Muesum! That's a local version of the British Museum but with lovely views of London. It's pronouced Horn-knee-man the I sounds like an ee - don't ask the London accent is weird, Eltham (as in Eltham Palace) the th is a hard t as in take or time. As a possed to th as in thrift or thumb. People do still wear masks on public transport, it's not everyone but you won't be alone. Have a great time :)

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

Horn-Knee-Man then indeed 😂 Thank you Alexa!

C
Cheryl Rosbak · March 27, 2023

You will have many hours to write on the plane. I don't think I said on the video, but I think your new hair suits you perfectly. Have fun in London! I went to the Soane museum when I was there in 2016 and it was fascinating.

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

Thank you Cheryl! Alas as I edit by reading aloud, and tend to cry while writing emotional scenes, I'll save the writing for my hotel room ha 😅🤣

R
Rachel B Van Camp · March 27, 2023

Selfishly I'd say video but you do what's best.

L
Laura Allen · March 27, 2023

Either a podcast or vlog whatever's easiest. Reading on public transportation is a good way to keep from looking people in the eye and inviting interaction. I grew up in NYC area and my father taught me to ready while employing my peripheral vision to check on people around me. Be safe and enjoy!

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

Thank you Laura! Luckily I must have resting Londoner face, as I was never bothered on the tube and I did get asked for direction by tourists a few times while studying there 😂

M
Mysmichelle · March 27, 2023

I want a vlog from London!

B
Bobbie Parham · March 27, 2023

The usual pod cast. Spend your time in London having fun...its your vacation and well deserved. Almost forgot...your hair cut is WONDERFUL!

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

Thank you Bobbie!!

M
MEGAN PETERS · March 27, 2023

I'd love a vlog from London, but I'd rather you enjoy your trip. Maybe a compromise? Snap pics of the sites you enjoy the most and tell us all about them when you get back. If you go for a fancy tea, I'd like to hear all about that

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

Thank you Megan! There will definitely be tea, and fancy tea at that, but booking a full high tea for one would feel pretty extravagant 😅✨

L
Lynn Olsen · March 27, 2023

Vlog sounds great!

F
Flatbattery Makes · March 27, 2023

Enjoy your break, don't spend your holiday doing what you're taking a break from 😊 A podcast catch up when you get back would be lovely.... And, if you unexpectedly (& let's be honest, really wierdly! 😆) find yourself ending up in Birmingham instead of London, give me a shout... We'll do cocktails 🍹 Have a fabulous time on your jollies, this little collection of islands is amazing 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮💛💛💛

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

Thank you!! At least I'll be forced to have a break from sewing, the rest I can't promise 😅😂

R
Rhonda O'Dea · March 27, 2023

If you feel up to it, a vlog from London would be awesome But, it all depends on how you feel at the time. I’d rather you had a decent break and time to soak up the sights. Take care of yourself. Sending best wishes and happy holiday vibes from Down Under 💚💚💚📚🐈‍⬛💐🌸🌺🇦🇺😎

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

Thank you Rhonda!

R
Rebecca D · March 27, 2023

vlog please!

C
Clara Weber · March 27, 2023

Definitely an update from London!

C
Ciara Neiger · March 27, 2023

Vlog would be fun! But either way works for me.

A
Alicia Frederick · March 27, 2023

Vlog would be wonderful if you're up for it!! I've always wanted to visit London

J
Jen Von Dutch · March 27, 2023

Vlog from London, but only if it won't turn your vacation into work! Maybe just little snip-it vlogs or at the end of the day you could record a rundown of daily highlights. Your new haircut is super cute too, it looks really good on you.

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

Thank you Jen! I keep checking to see which museums will even let me share clips or photos grrr ☹

C
Chae Howard · March 27, 2023

A vote for a podcast like usual from me. Please don't turn too much of your vacation into work!

T
The Closet Historian · April 9, 2023

Ha! Who me?? 😂❤

A
Amy Tegethoff · March 27, 2023

Vlog from London all the way! Let us live vicariously thru you!!

C
Carolyn Price · March 27, 2023

I’d love to hear about your discoveries and insights while in London

J
