The silk version! This buddy sure took me a lot longer than I had planned 😅 I've set myself up for a busy next couple of months, but hopefully it will be worth it in the end!

Definitely upgrade your ironing board! I hated ironing - I thought. But then I got a rower a iron and some bougie brand of ironing board for $50 each at an estate sale. Now I like ironing cause the tools do their job!

Beautiful

Stunning. Truly.

Nic · September 29, 2022

Damn, Bianca this is incredible! But I feel like that doesn’t do this masterpiece justice to describe its beauty. It’s so amazing, I knew it was going to be flawless from the sketches but dang it’s just so pretty and detailed. I love it!!! Amazing work as always!

Thomas Foley · September 29, 2022

I am just blown away. Dealing with hurricane prep and then after the storm, I watch this. Outstanding! I hope you do show up at a real estate office this way. Always look forward to your projects. You. Are. Amazing.

T
The Closet Historian · September 29, 2022

Thank you Thomas! Hope you stay safe!!

Amazing, stunning, not enough adjectives to express how wonderful I think this is! Since you were wondering, the princess seam was named for Princess Alexandra, who back in the 1880’s was as much of a fashion trendsetter as Princess Di was a century later. Her dresses typically didn’t have a waist seam.

T
The Closet Historian · September 29, 2022

Thank you Sandi! It always reminds me of medieval "princess" dresses as well 🏰✨

Chae Howard · September 29, 2022

Unrelated, but have you had a chance to watch the new Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime on Netflix? It is *chefs kiss* so good.

T
The Closet Historian · September 29, 2022

Thank you Chae! Alas I did watch it, but while the animation was good, and I enjoyed having the music from the game in there...I found the story lacking as it is just /so/ typical anime (school kid is suddenly exceptional, and wouldn't you know it? the hot girl likes him back, mentor is chill and then is gone, oops now it's a mecha show for the last few episodes) Ehh...Now that I have been spoiled with Arcane, nothing is gonna come close 😂 I was hoping for more of a cowboy bepop feel, but I'm certainly glad it is doing well and bringing more people to the game, which hopefully means more expansions and content for me to play ✨

I absolutely love this, Bianca! It's the most glamorous version of business in the front, party in the back that exists (complementary).

Marie Eaton-Smith · September 29, 2022

(Pressed post before I finished writing!) You should be so proud and happy with this. Absolutely stunning, gorgeous colour, and it suits you so very well. I hope you do wear the jacket?

Amazing. Incredible work.

Nicole Sparks · September 29, 2022

How do you wash something like this? Obviously the embroidery makes spot treating a better idea than washing. But the other things you've made that weren't embroidered? It never really occurred to me to ask until now. :) Also, you said that you'll probably replace the ironing board in your sewing-room-to-be... what makes a good ironing board for you, besides padding?

T
The Closet Historian · September 29, 2022

Alas it's my view that couture things like this are not meant to be washed, so one would wear something underneath and then simply not get it dirty. Like big silk costumes or some wedding gowns, it's not meant to be washed is all 😅 I would say I prefer a firmer ironing board is all, mine is a flimsy Target buddy, not up to the amount of stuff I do!

Hahaha, I used to sew over my pins...until one went through the plate and scratched my needle hook, and my machine went haywire. $200 later for the new needle hook and I really try not to sew over them any more. But that's me. But more importantly, this jacket is incredible! The green silk and the embroidery are just *chef's kiss*. Absolutely wonderful, and very inspiring. Beautiful work!

T
The Closet Historian · September 29, 2022

Thank you Lisa! I think having my cast iron machine with all metal parts helps in this regard, my machine is far more powerful than my pins ✨

Beth k · September 28, 2022

This is exquisite!!! The embellishments, my god!!! You are beyond talented. I do emboidery and you are the one who inspired me to incorporate beading into mine. Thank you for always inspiring me to take things up a level. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

T
The Closet Historian · September 29, 2022

Thank you Beth! The only trouble with beads is that there are always more fun ones out there to play with ✨

Business up font, bugs in the back!!💼🕷😅 You are a beading sorceress, it's like Edith Head, Gustav Klimt and Franz Kafka got together and said, "hey, let's make a dress suit!" Looking forward to watching this at supper time. Thank you, Bianca! 💐

T
The Closet Historian · September 29, 2022

Thank you Penny! Sounds like a very interesting dinner party, I'd love to host 🤣💚

Oh MY GAWD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I keep saying this my Queen but we humble people are not worthy!! This is couture!! This is EVERYTHING!!! You need to walk a red carpet in this! Yay! You used the beetle wings!!!!!! They look amazing. I was robbed of breath over the incredible 3 main moths and their color ways. Holy CATS this sparkles. All the feels!!!!!!!

T
The Closet Historian · September 29, 2022

Thank you Thea!! The beetle wings had been waiting for their moment! 💚✨

Lorien Manookin · September 28, 2022

Another stunner. I actually caught a Luna moth the other evening (and let it go- I didn’t have the heart to keep it), and now I’m really wanting to make a dress inspired by it!

T
The Closet Historian · September 29, 2022

Thank you Lorien! It must have been so beautiful! I have never seen a live one, I wonder if it would actually scare me since they are so big, but very pretty of course!

B
Bobbie Parham · September 28, 2022

OMG! what else could we say. A pair of black silk pajama pants would be very interesting paired with this jacket. Your skills are amazing!

T

Thank you Bobbie! Would be good for hosting dinner parties ✨

Victoria Golos · September 28, 2022

Hayley Blaber · September 28, 2022

This jacket is unbelievably gorgeous! I don't know how you have the patience for all that embroidery

Thank you Hayley! Once I start I can't help but finish which helps 😅

M
Maeghi · September 28, 2022

I literally said "oh holy fuuu**" out loud 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 I knew it was going to be amazing because I've also lusted after that McQueen collection for ages, but this is just beyond magnificent! This whole project is just so inspiring - watching your mockup of this made me want to attempt an unembellished version out of a hunter green/black iridescent dupioni I have in my stash, buuuuut after watching this I've made a terrible mistake of "just looking" through Cartwright's and should now probably research how to bead a snake before my order arrives 😂

T
The Closet Historian · September 29, 2022

Thank you Maeghi! Haven't we all been "just looking" and accidently hit the "buy now" 🤣✨ Green iridescent dupioni is always a good plan in my world 💚

Thank you Marcie!

E
EloquentSilence · September 28, 2022

The front says "I'm classy and sophisticated" and the back says ✨🕷✨🦋✨. It’s gorgeous and it was worth the embroidery gremlin posture induced physical strain.

T
The Closet Historian · September 29, 2022

Thank you! I look forward to shocking the general public with bug sparkles while out to dinner soon ✨

P
Patrick Bingham · September 28, 2022

Alicia Frederick · September 28, 2022

This jacket is so stunning! I hope you schedule some rest after that much embroidery, you earned it!! I'm curious why you decided to line the jacket before doing the embroidery? I would have assumed the lining should go in afterwards, but perhaps I'm wrong? Either way, your skill and follow through are incredible!

T
The Closet Historian · September 29, 2022

Thank you Alicia! I did the embroidery after finishing the rest of the jacket becuase I didn't want to try maneuvering the finished embroidery around on the machine or inside out and such while lining due to the fragile nature of the beetle wing casings and coiled wire threads. I would rather do my best to not stitch through the lining while beading than risk snagging or ruining the embroidery while sewing on the machine. Best would have been to do the work on a loom of some kind and then appliqued the finished embroidered panels onto the otherwise finished jacket I suppose, but I'm working with what I've got ha 😅

Eleanor Schille-Hudson · September 28, 2022

😮😮😮 Bianca!!! I gasped! You're a genius!!! It's soooo beautiful. I'm extremely pro you showing up to a random realtor's office in that ;)

T
The Closet Historian · September 29, 2022

Thank you Eleanor! I think the realtor would have to take my requests for a dark closed floor plan and historic details seriously if I showed up in this 😅

N
NANCY CONCHA · September 28, 2022

I literally looked at the thumbnail (have not watched it yet) and said "oh wow!" out loud (to which the cat meowed thinking I was talking to him). It's so sparkly!

T

Got to love both sparkles and cats! ❤️
