I love how this has a Japanese look to it! You rock it as always! 😊

Stunning. I want one. Has anyone ever asked off work just to sew? I might just do that.

Thank you Krista! "So sorry, I have a severe case of maker-itis, it won't get any better until I get at least three projects finished..."

I’m very excited for your Halloween content! I’m making myself a fall/winter wardrobe to focus my overwhelm a bit since I want to make everything cute I see in your catalogs and Pinterest! gah! So excited! Pumpkins! Makeup! Dressing up as dead 1940s people! Haha

Thanks Barbie! I've got some fun stuff planned, as well as silly simple stuff too, like how I paint and carve my foam pumpkins 🎃✨

I really like this dress! I always disliked wrap dresses and skirts because the openings would flap open if I moved too vigorously, but it never occurred to me that I could do a full front bodice and skirt for the under layer. I will admit to imagining this dress in a solid or small print with contrast piping or bias on the shaped edges and neckline to accentuate the curves on the opening. That might make for a good sketchbook exercise this week, seeing how many variations I can come up with on this theme. I don’t have space for sewing or pattern drafting right now, so I am focusing on practicing and improving my sketching skills. I do fine with drafting garment patterns, floor plans, and architectural designs because I can use math and rulers. Also, I picked up those hobbies for the first time in my early teens (well over a decade ago). I only started sketching designs after I started watching your channel a couple of years ago and realizing that design sketches could be done in the simpler “technical” style, rather than the more elaborate styles with mixed media or paints, etc. Thanks for both the lovely video and the inspiration!

Thank you! I never made my sketches "artsy" enough in university, and was always getting flack for it, but I make sketches to decide what and how to sew something, not as an art piece in themselves, so I just do as I wish! 😂

There's so much to love about your videos, you're friendly and talented, with nice things to look at and the reveal is always quite something with the music and all. This takes time and thought! I hope you enjoy your pumpkin hunt. I bet you could do a whiz bang job of a Halloween version of Carmen Miranda, you know, cobwebs in the grapes and little bats instead of pineapples! 🎃

Thank you Penny! If there were Halloween carved platform shoes to match I would have to have them 🎃🦇🕸️

Absolutely gorgeous dress! For plain coloured fabrics, Lady Mcelroy in the UK have loads of different colours of cotton stretch drills and sateens, and some especially beautiful jewel tones!

Thank you Hayley! I will definitely check them out!!

This is a fantastic dress. You have inspired me to change up the wrap dress pattern that I have. As always, love how you present the pattern alterations and the end product. You are a "creator" and an excellent one. Thank you for all you do! By the way, how are the babies? Maybe you could sneak some film of the cats into your next video.

T
The Closet Historian · August 19, 2022

Thank you Bobbie! The babies are great! I tend to share more of them over on instagram, but I can get some new clips of them soon to share!

Yes, it’s pre pre-October (hey there Weirdos!) so it’s the perfect time for pumpkins… I always say: if JoAnn and Michael are putting out pumpkins, I can too…

T
The Closet Historian · August 19, 2022

Exactly! I still have one real pumpkin here in my office that I've had since last September...and its fine?! very odd 😅

Thanks for the tip on how to take away ease in the wrap section. When I have made my pattern I place it on the ground like I would on the fabric, this way I can measure how much fabric I need. Just start decorating fore Halloween the more time you, and we, can enjoy it.

T
The Closet Historian · August 19, 2022

Thank you Anna-Lise! When I have my own space I will definitely be decorating for Halloween with a lot of gusto on like August 1st 😂

Love this dress! Never liked wrapped dresses because of the ‘gape’ but this dress is so stylish that I’d like to give this a go. I like the flared skirt and love those tulip sleeves. 💖💕 Kittenish Behaviour measures the wrap and cuts tape to that measurement, sewing into the edge of the wrap to help stop any stretching on the bias. Haven’t tried that. As long as the wrap fits snugly then I think that method would help. I always learn something new with each of your tutorials. Thank you for sharing this with us. You’ve helped grow my sewing skills and my sewing confidence. Thank you, Bianca! Sending best wishes from Down Under💚💚💚📚💐🌺🇦🇺😎😻

Thank you Rhonda! I definitely could see how stabilizing tape would help a ton with looser weave or stretchy fabrics that tend to stretch out!
