This has a black widow look to it! AWESOME!
Loooooove that neckline!! And the hourglass/black widow really suits the style with the added puff of the sleeve! Chef’s kiss Bianca!
Thank you Thea!!
I really like the subtle shoulder yoke on this. And yes the neckline princess seam really suits this design and your figure. I'll have a root through my vintage sewing books and see if it has a special name later. I always handsew the lapped side of the zip as I prefer the vintage look of a picked seam but then I love the rhythm handsewing these days.
Thank you Peta! I did a zipper in a rayon twill dress exactly that way today, machine stitched on the underside but pricked on the other and it came out nice and clean so I may convert to that from now on ✨
https://www.wawak.com/cutting-measuring/marking-chalk-pens/pens-pencils/wawak-fabric-heat-erasable-pens-36pack-assorted-colors/#sku=ck340 These pens are heat erasable and include a white pen that shows up really well on black woven fabrics. Also this company has fantastic notions in general, I usually do a couple big orders from them a year to stock up on tread and needles if you haven’t heard of them before.
Thanks Bernadette! It's a shame they are out of stock of skirt hooks as I could use a bunch 😅
The red and black design reminds me of a deck of cards. If you ever get invited for a game of bridge, this is the dress to wear! Also, I recently discovered a sci-fi painter from the 60s/70s. Paul Lehr was his name. Your retro-futuristic designs could be straight out of one of his paintings. ✨
I will look him up! ✨
I love those sleeves!
Thank you Allison!
Ooh, so pretty!
Thank you Amie!
I have started hand sewing my zippers unless I'm using a thicker fabric. It's a little bit of a pain since I'm usually impatient by that point but I regret it less than the warped fabric I usually get putting them in by machine.
I tried machine stitching the underside and hand pricking the lapped side today and I think I may stick with that from now on as it is just less anxiety inducing 😅
Looks amazing!
Thank you Isaab!
Great dress.
Thank you Bobbie!
Love it!
Thank you Nancy!
I don’t know the official /correct name for the princess seam that goes into the neckline but I propose we call it a “Dark Princess”. Can’t sew myself atm so great to watch you (as always). Love your hairstyle in this.
I love your videos - you are very talented. Would it be possible to do something that is not color blocked for your next project please? Thank you very much.
So excited! This was my favorite piece from this last look book 🤩
