Projects Coming Soon
Just a few snaps of the materials I'll be working with over the next few weeks. I'm super excited about the black and white dress. It will have the holographic silver knit everywhere there is light blue in the sketch. I want it to feel a bit Star Wars and a bit Thierry Mugler, and hopefully I can get started working on it soon.
I already started the neon and black dress, in fact it just needs a zipper and a hem. I ended up going for a simpler design, a solid skirt and different color blocking on the bodice, but the neon taffeta is just /so/ bright that it has enough going on just with the smaller sections. Well I say small, but the sleeves themselves are rather large and epic. I want to use the shiny black knit for the undersleeves, but decided to try and make them as separate long fingerless gloves that can be worn with the dress or not depending on what I'm feeling or the weather. Plus then I can maybe make solid color versions of similar dresses with the open sleeves in the future and wear them with different undersleeves for different looks. I layered the fine abstract lace over the taffeta for the color blocked sections of the dress to tone the neon down a tiny bit, then used matching neon yellow thread for some topstitching to add a hint of sporty/tactical flair to an otherwise rather fantasy-ish dress. It's more from my vision of a retro-future, but I guess I'm just stuck in space these days.
The neon lined sleeves are sort of amazing, so I can't wait to finish up the dress and show you soon!

Oh my GAWD I can't wait
Oh, this will be sooooo cool. <3
Oooh, I can't wait to see how these come out. That fabric is fabulous!
Thank you Lisa!
Hi, Ooooh, this is going to be so much fun. Avant-garde all the way. I know they are wearable, but I think these will be artwork too. The iridescent (is that the right term) silvery fabric is a swimsuit fabric? I wonder what a swimsuit in that material would be like, and what the fishes would think. I'm a sea water kind of person with warm seawater as my specialty. In translation: I like to go south on vacation, like to the Mediterranean during summer and more tropical say Thailand (or maybe Costa Rica or Panama and if this pandemic don't let up, perhaps the Canary Islands this winter) for the winter, and when we go we like the sea better than a pool. So what would the fishes think? Talk about a stealth swimsuit. You did say about the neon yellow. It is truly very neon. And yellow. As I can't picture things until I see them, I can't wait to see your creation. I assume that the lace will come into play too at some point? Exiting. An Art Deco inspired creation is also a very wonderful idea. Who doesn't like Art Deco? (The question is rhetorical, for clarification.) Yours, Ann
It’s like space queen meets Art Deco! Meanwhile, that neon is making me want to go buy a new pack of highlighters!
I have another dress I want to make based around an art deco hair comb I found antiquing this year 😅✨
I love your fashion drawings for each project! ❤️
Thank you Louise!
This is great. You are really inspiring all of us. I would have never thought of using the aforementioned fabrics! Can't wait to see the gloves. By the way, I have an extra Bernadette Banner book, would you like?
Thank you Bobbie! And thanks for the offer, but I'm afraid I'm just not super interested as I am a machines and shortcuts all the way kinda gal!
Looks really cool!
Wow! That yellow will stop traffic! Can't wait to see the results!
The neon 😍💛
I love the sleeves!
Wow so excited to see these!
Thanks Michelle!
Will you demo making gloves? I've been struggling to make gloves and it'd be super helpful to see you do them too!
I will indeed, but they will 100% be fingerless gloves I'm afraid! No fiddly fingers for me 😅
I can’t wait to see these projects in their completed glory!
Thanks Flynn! The neon dress might be my new favorite thing ever, which I said last time about the other bishop sleeved version, but I guess I'm just really leaning into these space dresses and loving it 😂
