Could you please show/advise on manipulation for the embroidered dress on this page? https://www.pinterest.com/pin/460563499383569633/ I am not sure how to perfect the front wrap style.
Gabor makes peep toes that are very simple and incredibly stunning. just looking at red (suede? velvet?) one. And I have incredibly good experience with Gabor shoes, comfortable and never had any issues with them. Also Paul Green has very nice peep toes with not solid heel (just a strap). Do check them out.
Hi again, Of course I don't mean that you should do anything even unethical, like write a fellow costuber on the nose with the same content, so I apologize for the suggestion coming out that way I was merely being confused by the way Morgan Donner solved what seemed like a 3D puzzle just like you do, but I can understand you. I would still like to see how that or a similar dress is put together, but alas Ethics. Then again, not really alas because I wouldn't be here if you didn't have your compass due morals. I also want to thank you again for making all those toiles in your latest video on the channel. That was "bloody brilliant" (Ron Weasley, I think). The best, and most comprehensive teachings about dart manipulation I've come across. And I do come across them. Thanks to you they turn up in my feed fairly regularly these days. Sometimes I even watch them and am soon lost at pattern-sea.
Thank you Ann! ❤
Hi, Nice to stroll through a shop again. I haven't done that since before the pandemic (sorry- panini). I love the hats, no big surprise there, the dresses are fantabulus, and the coats~. I need a new coat. My lovely camel is getting a little frayed on the sleeves and I have no idea how to fix that in a classy way. It's a shame that you can't get costs that last longer than 15 years in Scandinavian winter. Yes, that was me trying out sarcasm but I don't know how successful I was. My take on fur and leather: as long as it's an animal that was bred for food I rather we (i.e I) use up as close to everything as possible. The animal should for preference have lived a good life, and entered the little packages in the grocery store without pain and stress. Using up oil for faux fur, aka plastic, and release the carbon into the air and thereby bringing the planet back to where it can't sustain oxygen dependent life, is not something I feel comfortable with. It's the same as my personal thing about polyester, really. No shaming is intended. I can only do me, I don't want to do anyone else because that is anyone else's job. I rewatched a video by Morgan Donner a few days ago where she was recreating Ms Masie's red dress. I don't know who Ms Masie is but the dress looked like it was something from your wheelhouse. Morgan Donner ended up with some really strange-looking pattern pieces and to be honest I didn't quite understand what was going on. If you are looking for future video ideas I would really love to see how you would have solved the puzzle of this red dress. You have a knack of making me understand something even if I don't really can. Maybe it would be something that other people would enjoy too, seeing as it's a very good-looking dress. Thank you for making this and all the other videos for our enjoyment. It's is my absolute pleasure to watch each and every one of them as they come up in my feed. I'm so grateful for them. Yours, Ann
ohh I would also love to see your take on Ms Maisel's red dress! Great idea Ann :)
The Magic Table!!! I had/have that table. It was great. I could lay out 60" fabric out with ease. My family never gets rid of furniture so I think my husband and I were at least the 4th household to have it. I'm fairly certain my great grandparents bought it. It might still be lurking around my parents' warehouse. Lovely video and thank you for sharing this with us. They are a great resource that has really helped me hone my eye for 1940s style.
Thanks Flynn! That table was sure a good investment then!
Would love to see a patterning/ muslin for the "Lot of Work" coat at 7:35!! <3
The quantity of nail studs is a bit surprising?? Somehow very punk and high fem at the same time, I would have never thought they were a 40s thing. Thank you for taking the time to share! These scans are taking over my Pinterest!! XD
I know so many studs! I knew they had some, but this was a ton!
My mom used to get the Spiegel catalog in the late 80s and early 90s! I remember looking through it, back in the day when I used to love getting the big Sears catalog too!! There are some peep-toe shoes at -- https://memery.co.uk/ I always love checking out that site. I believe Miss L Fire has peep-toe shoes too (not sure of the styles though) --https://misslfire.com/ Also, Lulu Hun has peep-toes that pop up too -- https://luluhun.co.uk/
I remember as a kid in the 70's watching "Let's Make a Deal" - and Spiegel was a big time advertiser on that show. I think I remember looking at a catalog in those days and thinking they were too expensive for our family's budget. Looking at your other catalog videos from the same time certainly confirm that more "luxury" (i.e. furs) impression from my childhood.
Yes I definitely think they have a luxury price point going on here eek!
That first dress with the sequin sleeve at timestamp 13:00 was yummy. I didn't see the sequins at first - just lace. How fun would that be to add lace to your all-in-one sleeve sleeve design? Could even be a cute day dress in a cotton print or make it long in satin for evening wear. Bonus-wouldn't have to hem the lace sleeve. I'm a lazy seamstress too.
Vintage Spiegel catalogue: $50. Solitary seamstress in her basement scanning nearly every page to share with the world: Priceless.
Thanks Penny!
The suits are spectacular, especially those that had bead embroidery details (sorry I have a unicorn complex, I love shiny things). But I still do not feel prepared to make a suit. I hope I can soon.
I also don't feel prepared to make a suit either 😅
American Beauty is a variety of rose.
Ah this makes perfect sense then!
On the topic of peep toed shoes, the brands Lulu Hun, Rocket Originals and Miss L Fire USA seem to have a couple of options. And if you haven't seen them, Lulu Hun has some peep toed, rainbow espadrille wedges that are STUNNING.
I just received 3 pairs from Lulu Hun. Red, green and yellow. We're back in lock-down here in Oz. Can't wait to get out and rock them!
