Attempting to Craft?! // Prototyping an Armani Handbag
The under circle connector piece: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/460563499415668582 meant to be used with 8" diameter circles and a 12.5" by 8 inch pattern for the inner liner drawstring bag.
Ohhhh goodness, will I ever catch up and feel truly at ease again? You know better than most that the answer is probably...not likely. I got close, honest! Then germs 🥲
I really wanted to create a fully sequined version of this handbag this month, but I also wanted to get a lot of things done this last month that between deciding to remove the foyer tile and then getting sick, did not come to pass. Plus I started my stained glass class one night a week, and let's face it, as much as I am enjoying it, I need that night each week bleh!
So I find myself begging pardon once again. Luckily my mom is coming to visit next week, and in addition to brightening my spirits, having her here to help me for a few days will hopefully allow me to catch up on the last few bits lagging behind. I hope to make the final version of this Armani inspired handbag first of all, but also a second video for you here on Patreon next month as well. We all know I hope for a lot of grand things, but hope with me that you will be seeing me again soon.
You certainly will be hearing from me shortly, as I'll be recording the updates podcast. Then I can tell you about the surprise electrical work I'm having done next week...woooo! Don't we all love surprise needs-to-be-done-asap pretty much electrical work? Of course. Before then chocolate will be essential...

Who would apologize to her boss(es) for being sick!? That's super unnecessary. Sick is sick. Period. I'd never say sorry for bad luck that happened to me. What's next, begging a bus for forgiveness when it crashes into you? :P Exciting bag pattern, I'd like to see your second version. :)
you don't need to be epic and productive, you're not a machine. Like many earlier commentors: don't worry, we're here for you. But I'd always like to see another example of turning darts into ... on a toile, like you did some time ago.
🧐 is the bottom piece of the outer portion perhaps meant to also be a circle folded in half? when i look at the heavily textured one at 0:20, the bottom corners appear to be open at the edges. this would also account for the slight tilting of each side piece, and the slight narrowing at the mouth of the bag, as these would follow the curve of the half circle forming the base. bag probably does not have a lot of depth— otherwise the side pieces would curve much more.
It’s the origami of it all with handbags :/
Bianca, please don't apologize for taking time off for being sick. It's sick leave! You are a worker and are allowed to take sick leave. Same goes for person time off! Work-life balance is so important for enjoying life and avoiding burn out. Stress will only keep you from healing. Painting a foyer isn't rest! Please rest. Please enjoy time with your mom. We will be here when you get back! 💚 (Also please consider wearing a N95 when in public, it will keep you from getting sick again okay thanks!)
Bianca, please consider getting your machine serviced. A sewing machine becoming temperamental is a sign that it needs a thorough maintenance service, especially if it's been a while. With how many miles you put on your machine, you should ideally do it annually.
It came out well! And no worries. Take care of yourself and you kitties! ✨️
bag making is my nemesis, I want all the fun bags but making them befuddles me
Enjoy your visit with your mom. Life happens, give yourself some grace. You are human, not a robot. Catch your breath. We are here for you and support your creative endeavors. Love to see your stained glass and I'm glad you are getting out and meeting people
As I say...chocolate makes everything better.
I read Whitney’s comment below & couldn’t have said it better. Enjoy the visit from your mom & hoping you hear us… Also, I think we are afraid you are on a path to real burnout. So please please please… please take care of yourself & allow yourself to just disconnect a little bit. I know the bills are real & the algorithm persnickety… but we are with you. That inner taskmaster you have is a bit too harsh methinks & maybe needs to stand down a tad? I have had my own struggles with such a one & I can honestly say that life is better now. Also… could you maybe set up a crowd funding or something for the roof/electrical so the figurative (&literal) roof to your creative life doesn’t come crashing down on you? If enough of us can kick an extra cup of coffee your way… maybe it would help? Patreon probably has magic buttons, but I am thinking of, yes, asking your peeps on the channel to … maybe let them know that the roof is a problem & is threatening to capsize the channel, & if they could kick in with an extra cuppa…. then you & Oliver would be mightily appreciative? &/or consider subscribing to Patreon? It is a one time thing but maybe those who don’t do Patreon might want to help? Tack it on for those who watch to the Fin? 🤷🏼♀️🤞🏻 Just saying…. people like to help.
this!
It amazes me you managed to get sick, you dont see many people. My SO is immune compromised, so masks are still regular wear. In the plus column i haven't had a cold or flu in 6 years! And it defeats the digital panopticon. We started using a meal prep service, so I dont feel particularly deprived :-). Feel better soon!
I am immunocompromised too and I never stopped masking. N95s are so good at infection protection it's kind of nuts. I would recommend anyone reading this to invest in some well-fitting respirators. They are so much better (and cheaper) than being sick!
I love “small” projects! Epic things are neat too but I can see myself actually trying out things that don’t take a lot of time and fabric. Creativity is creativity. As long as it’s inspiring I am all in!
No need to "catch up" work projects, chickadee!! Just handle life and work as best you can. There are only so many hours in the day. We're all here to support you and your craft, and don't hold you to the same production schedule you try to strive to achieve. Am honestly amazed at how quickly you make things! Allow yourself space to live, rest, handle things life throws at you, write, and spend time with family (furry goober-nuggets and their shenanigans included). Fellow member of the "why is this seemingly simple project so hard for my brain to understand" club... you are not alone. Certain things, brain does pure frickin magic and boom! Done... some random things, stuck on the struggle bus 😅 Look forward to whatever projects you have lined up in whatever timeline you post them! Take care
This! 👆❤️
Circle bridge = taco panties
Taco panties … I’m dying here!!! LOL
No need to apologize. That's life not you.
I hope with you. But girl, you live your life. Check in when you can. It's all good.
