Future Foyer Detail Peeks
I have found a slightly more appropriate sconce for the foyer! It's still a reproduction, but at least it /looks/ like a gas fixture, even if it's technically even more modern than the little sconce it will be replacing. I drove out to a specialty vintage lighting shop and the couple running it were clearly experts in light fittings from the last several centuries, and she said the sconce I have in place (the ones that came with the house) are probably from the 1960s. I'll still be on the lookout for a two bulb properly antique sconce, but they seem to be quite rare and therefore pricey, and this buddy will still help to give my foyer a little more oomph for now.
I also redesigned the plan for the stenciling/painting I'd like to do for the foyer ceiling one day. This design is far more simplified from my last version, but I think it's much more cohesive with the other stenciling on the walls, and will be a bit easier (if still very daunting) to execute. The central "gold" areas will be faux painted gold leaf as opposed to real gold leaf, as I discovered just how irritating real gold leaf is to work with last year 😂 I hope to stencil the foyer and the sewing parlor ceilings later this year. I take inspiration from all of the decorative ceilings from late 19th century rooms like these I've collected over on Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/bmesposito/interiors/victorian-interiors/
I'm still trying to wrap up this first, very disjoined, session of foyer decoration for this next week's video. I have another pillow cover to make, a tablecloth to stitch up, and the sconce to install, but troublingly I also have now come down with a cold. Mostly this may present an issue when it comes to doing voice over work...I'll just have to see how it goes!
Thank you for your support and I hope your April is going well so far ❤

Get some Zicam swabs for your cold. It really does work to shorten duration of a cold.
'This design is far more simplified from my last version, but...' ...OK...... It will, of course look beautiful.
Love the plan for the ceiling. I hope you feel better soon!

Toche...same here!!
Love your ceiling idea, and really like the lamp! Nice Pinterest inspirations! I need to start a board for a 1920's home, as soon as I find out what the original style was before all the changes made over the years. Hope you feel better soon.
Oh, I do hope you get well soon and that the cold is not too bad. Take care of yourself! 🤗
Ooooooo!!!!
Love it. Can't wait to see the rest. Love and light, Christina
I hope you recover quickly. Is the tablecloth to cover the heater for the summer? I love how you've integrated your ACs into your design asthetic, btw. I have been browsing old parlor stoves on FB, wow some of those were so intricate.
Yay! New (old) sconce! I hope it feels more appropriate in the space ❤️ Wow. That ceiling plan is gorgeous as usual! 😍
Wow some of those Pinterest pics really show how much the victorians loved knickknacks (and clutter)
