Guess who has fallen behind schedule ✨

That's right, it's me....again.

Ever full of surprises eh? I remain a highly predictable creature. Am I slowing down due to age? Is it the general worldwide darkness outside my door seeping into my brain like mold spores full of dread hanging in the miasma? Are the cats conspiring against us, and with --of all things-- extra cuddling?! A combination of all conundrums.

I don't want to put out an inferior rushed video, and with a fabric this fun, one that I had been saving for a few years afraid to cut into, I don't want to rush the last few steps of the sewing process either.

That is the extent of the actual update, the next channel video is delayed, but I have an existential ramble as well if you wish to indulge me further.

Personally I aim to produce two precipitates, or at least one if not the other: inspiration, and instruction. A few patterning and sewing tips each project, and the creative impetus to get folks up to mischief making of their own. I'll be honest with you, right now I question my ability to engage either result, as I feel a bit worn out and burnt up instead. Perhaps things caving in on me last month, literally, even if only a tiny bit, has chipped away at my mental foritude more than I'd like to admit.

Winter is long, and as independent as I am, I haven't hugged another human since my parents left in November. I'm doing the best I can, but it's not enough right now, and that bums me out too, because I want to be super woman, and instead I'm just a girl who (sometimes, evidently) demonstrates sewing.

Who decides how long something is supposed to take? it's just art, it's all supposed to be fun. How could I ever hope to deserve more time when I'm already one of the luckiest gals on the planet? All I know is this: the one thing I can't compromise on is quality. You deserve the best of me, even if it takes ever more time to accumulate.

So before I get any more dramatic, I'll ask for some feedback...

The channel on Youtube is nothing compared to your support here on Patreon. Ergo, screw the algorithm, it's just us over here, so give it to me straight: Would you prefer I show a whole project start to finish in one longer video covering every step, or should I break projects up into more than one video?

If I planned to do some projects in parts, I could perhaps release those sectioned videos with a planned regularly, but if I take on more involved projects, they are gonna take more time and that will create greater gaps in the video releases if I put the whole process in one episode.

More shorter videos or longer videos with longer gaps between them? Do you have a preference?!

Also, should I stick to trying to post each Thursday/Friday, or just start posting when the darn project/video is done/ready?

Creating as a job is such a remarkable gift, and I want very much to do right by all of you who make my very existence possible, but I also feel myself stumbling ever more to keep up with my old systems of scheduling. I find myself envious of the way tv shows got made, with the time to make and edit a season and the time to show it being separate, instead of it all happening at once.

I don't know what is best, but transparency is easy. I'll have a very iridescent jacket coming to the channel with sequins and bells on next week, but I just couldn't get it done in time. Why I feel literal almost physical dread about that is for my future therapist to figure out (uh, one day...when I have time for that), but I guess I just wanted to come clean.

I can't even begin to explain how grateful I am for your support. Thank you for putting up with me ❤️

Hi, Long time no see, but that's enough about me. Have you carved out any time for writing in a while, or is that shelved away? Please feel free to take a day and just sit and work on that writing of yours. Not the one about sewing, but the other one. Or reorganize your notes, just something that usually gives you joy. The Mighty Algorithm seem to be happiest, these days, if your content falls around 20-30 minutes, or that's what I've been told by other people that I follow over there. Maybe gear your content closer to that, and you present your products according to that until you and your soul are on the same wavelength again. Take care of yourself, and a hug 🤗😊. Yours, Ann

I don't really notice on what day videos come out from the various creators I follow on YouTube, so I say just put them out when they are done. And I guess I prefer video quantity over length <3

Hugs, Bianca. Burn out is brutal, running an ultra marathon in one's brain and no one has any idea it's happening. And being alone isn't always lonely, but when it is, a bit like wearing an itchy wool jumper two sizes too small at the bottom of a very deep well. Your content is wonderful bc you choose to share it with us. I am happy to watch/read whatever you post whenever that is. Playing with the YouTube algorithm gods seems like a losing game no matter who you are nowadays (bc Google doesn't have enough money yet...ehem, spoiler: it'll never be enough). Here's my real dream for you, though: you come up with a plan to build back strength from going through burnout, tell us what that looks like, and we rally behind you. Take three months off, feck, take a year off, post old content to YouTube, find something you like to do that's yours and yours alone, go watch the birds in the neighborhood. Then come back and say hi. You are not a product. You are a whole ass person. What does life look like, despite capitalism, for all of us? Let's make that answer together.

Im a bit late with this as wasn't well, but I think just do it how you'd prefer to do it Bianca. You need to make sure you are fit and healthy and if that means breaking up a project into 2 or even 3 or more sections then so be it. Everything you make ends up being something of beauty and well worth the wait and we are so honoured that you let us into your home through you videos to show us how you have achieved such beauty. By the way, that fabric is something to die for and the beads and sequins look amazing.

I like that you finish a project before making the voice over, because you often have a "lesson learned" moment you tell us about, but you should post them in segments so you get more breathing room. And for me, 20-25 min is the sweet spot. Longer than that and I'll put off watching it until I have a chunk of time I can dedicate. Your public videos definitely showcase more than a week's worth of work - that's not even counting all your Patreon content - so you should get more than a week out of them.

Bianca, don't beat yourself up. We all have times when we lose our creative mojo, and also when we feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of everything that needs to be done. Sometimes I don't know where to start. Seems to me I've seen Gertie break projects up into mini step by step videos, and it worked well as long as you keep track of where in the sequence you are. But that might actually take more work in the long run... Either approach you want to take, we your loyal fans will be grateful for each video. And seeing you utilize these stunning fabrics from your stash is always a treat. Take heart and keep up the good work! And if you don't release a video every week, we will be pleasantly surprised when you do, so it's all good. Take care of yourself.

Celia · March 9, 2026

Don't let the pressure (and/or guilt) ruin your enjoyment of your craft. I made the mistake of allowing myself to get covered up by commissions I'm still working my way through 3 years later and the stress of worrying about them and guilt when I put them off to work on a project I love makes it not worth the money I will get when I finish the work. Worse I have quit going to events I used to enjoy, where I will run into my customers and get comments about their projects. I didn't take any money from them up front so they can't say they were ripped off, but it still makes me feel guilty and absolutely crushes one's creativity.

Aznim Ruhana Md Yusup · March 7, 2026

Is it possible for you to schedule your channel video to come out every two weeks instead of one? It would give you some breathing room plus time for other things that you want to do or study but can't exactly fit around a weekly deadline. You can mention it so viewers would know what to expect & when. (I don't know how that would affect the algorithm but you did say screw the algorithm!) Tbh as someone who watches yt as their main form of entertainment, I like when videos come on a set day like tv shows but I've also watched enough of yt that I'm not mad when it doesn't happen cos youtubers aren't production companies. That physical dread over deadlines is real. I used to be a journalist & I got burned out so bad & now I'm no longer a journalist. Certain things worked out for me - layoffs funnily enough - but you love this job so it's worth finding out what can work for you.

Dear dear B, yes, it's so hard being a creator and trying to be true to yourself and your values. Let alone making money of your creations. I learned that the hard way when I was in the music industry. Always being pushed in one way or another, always being lied to, always trying not to end up on the casting couch. Me being a men made no difference. YouTube happened too late for me, but you yourself made it happen for you. Be proud of what you have accomplished and don't overthink all your conundrums too much. You have already proven yourself and your fans will follow whatever you decide.

I have no attachment to a schedule of video releases. I am happy for the nice surprise of a video whenever you have one ready. I have a slight preference for long videos that cover a project start to finish, but I have a stronger preference for you doing whatever you need to not burn out. I’ve been struggling with burnout for ~2 years and it’s miserable. Take care of yourself however you need (therapy is good stuff! But so is rest!) and I’ll be here enjoying your videos whenever they appear.

A
Akinat · March 7, 2026

I would absolutely be fine with you splitting up a project in multiple videos! I understand that editing more videos also takes time, but if you could do 2 weeks of work in total and spread that over 3 videos for example you’d have some breathing room. Plus get some more Youtube income. Also, even as an introvert, it might be time to start building a local (support) network. Doing an occasional social activity is important for your mental health.

"Guess who has fallen behind schedule" There is quite a bit of self-criticism in that title! ;) Echoing what others have said about youtube. Not even just the algorithm-- but it is not the place that it used to be when you first started out, and that is outside of your control! Even if people want to find cool stuff to watch, they have to endure/suffer the enshittification of the internet that makes things harder for viewers like us and creators like you. Your channel got recommended to me I think when you were making the ice dye garments? I quickly fell down a rabbit hole and watched ALLL of your videos (yes, even the ones where you make a dream house on the Sims). Please take this as an observation (not a criticism!), but what I have noticed from recent videos in the past two or so years is that there has been a formalization of delivery and tone, and almost like-- locking into the Teacher/Professional persona, who needs to be perfect and is there to present the ultimate/inspirational ideal. Part of this may be burnout -- producing so many videos, the labor intensive nature of video production as well as the work that you do (it's easier to go with a structure that works and is predictable). But I feel like a bit of Bianca the person, chatty, messing around on camera, making jokes, and mistakes!-- has retreated a bit into Bianca the Glamorous Sewing Witch. Pitfalls of social media-- needing to show off something new, something perfect, all the time. That can feed into self-induced pressure and anxiety-- from how something is said, to beliefs about productivity and "timeline". It's all a terrible cycle, which I wish on no one. Which is to say— some gentle encouragement for Bianca the Person to go out into her new community, make friends, and see a therapist. As for the channel or business— perhaps some expert advice or consulting with a career coach? Just an outside pair of eyes to make sense of what the mid to long game is. We are happy when you are happy! Much love to you.

Anita Hebert · March 6, 2026

What if you did 3 episodes per project: 1.design, 2.draft, 3.demo & dissect? Then take a 2+ week hiatus until the next set. I find the new lighting makes it hard to really get a good view, esp on a tiny phone screen. Would filming and discussing the planning stages, with really well-lit closeups on the fabric, showing the drape with and wo interfacing, sketching the design w voiceover be LESS work than 3 projects in the current format? You could offer 2 of the 3 to youtube, saving one for patrons only, or only offer patreon project in the hiatus. Just an idea.

J
Julie Tokumaru · March 6, 2026

I love your videos. I would prefer several shorter, partial projects more often than one complete longer one. It's like the difference between reading a whole book all at once rather than a chapter at a time. I get much more pleasure out of a chapter at a time. I get time to consider the work from more sides and therefore really connect with it. But, as you must know by now, I, like everyone else, am here for you, your art in what ever form it takes. Please remember, if something terrible happens to you we will all be diminished, so it follows that taking very good care of yourself is always the highest requirement of your work. ❤️

C
Christa Hendrickson · March 6, 2026

This reminds me of a mermaid :-) Honestly I'd watch whatever you put out, but if you want my preference, I'd prefer a regular schedule even if it means intentionally doing videos every other week. I don't have a strong preference on splitting videos into one or more videos. I'll watch the either way. I did like someone's suggestion below to add in some of the "prep" work you do to the video (whether you start from the fabric choice first or the design first) or if it is a house project some of the prep work you do to find inspiration. For you it's probably just instinctual, but for newbies, it's super helpful. I know you have a solo video all about fabric choice, but it's helpful to hear things multiple times or for specific projects.

E
Erin Marks · March 6, 2026

If quality of content is most important to you, then don't compromise on that. Do whatever you need to do to keep the quality to your standards. Personally I don't care about regular postings or length of video... I can't watch at a consistent time, so it doesnt really matter when things get posted and I'll watch longer videos when I have time. However, if having a deadline helps you more than it causes you angst, then keep a (reasonable) schedule for yourself. One more thing: since creativity is your livelihood, do whatever you need to do to keep yourself creative, including taking a break or trying something completely different. If something doesn't work, chalk it up to a learning experience and try something else. We'll still love you.

K
Karen Hansen-Smith · March 6, 2026

I tend to like shorter videos, so projects in stages works for my viewing style. It seems that feeling the pressure to rush a larger project along to fit an arbitrary posting schedule can be destructive to your psyche. Please take care of yourself first and foremost. We will be here to enjoy what you produce whenever it comes.

H
Heather · March 6, 2026

I always appreciate the motivating factor of seeing a project in stages. It helps me break down my own work into smaller steps and stay inspired to keep going! I also never pay attention to what days creators put videos up. I’m just happy when I see them in my feed!

Sending lots of virtual hugs your way! Everybody here loves your content so please take care of yourself and make a schedule that world for you ❤️ I personally really like the long form videos but that's because I enjoy having your videos in the background while I do my own work and hobbies. Your voice and voice overs really hits the sweet spot of being the perfect background when I have watches the videos a couple of times. However, I also enjoy your shorter videos that are more like updates on current projects - not everything needs to be a curated and prefectly presented finished garment. As others have already said, it gives a nice feeling of the actual time that goes into all the work you do! So Maybe a bit more vlog-style videos would work well for the shorter videos? And as others also have stated, you have a good backlog of Patreon videos. I don't mind you releasing those to the channel so you can keep sane. Take care of yourself ❤️

Bianca, I know you aren't alone with the heavy heavy feelings of the world outside bearing down on all of us. Knowing how much of creating is definitely a mindset is probably making it even harder to make your beautiful creations. And I don't want to put more heaviness on you but please know that your videos, long or short, are a balm to me and my comfort re-watch when I am feeling untethered in this world full of horrors. Knowing there is beauty and creativity and stunning beaded handwork to look forward to makes my heart happy. So take the time you need. Recover from the burnout. Post the videos you are proud of and know we will be watching and they lighten our souls a bit in these dark times. I also know its hard to go without a hug. Sending big ones from Alaska to you. Much heartfelt thanks for the beauty you bring into the world from me and so many others.

D
Dolores Sims · March 6, 2026

I've been watching your channel for a while now and honestly - while I look forward to your videos with much anticipation - it doesn't actually matter to me if they come out weekly or monthly. More in depth projects may need longer videos, but if it helps you to manage by breaking them into segments - that's good too. I come here for your content in whatever way you see fit to present it. As the saying goes - you do you. And in that spirit - do what is best for your mental health too. Much love to you Bianca.

L
Laura Allen · March 6, 2026

As others have said, they are your creations if you feel they would be better separated then do that but if you feel better about it all being together then do that. You're the artist no one will question how you decide to complete and present your art. I do think your surroundings not being normal would affect anyone and the gloomy weather never helps anyones mood. Take all the time you need to play with the kitties and feel good about things. Also, perhaps find that therapist and take time to meet people. No one thrives alone.

S
SueAnne · March 6, 2026

I realize "do what you feel is best" is often a very anxiety-inducing response, as it somewhat negates the purpose of having asked for advice, so I'll instead phrase my answer to the question of video length and scheduling as "do what brings more joy in the moment." If it's a big project and you feel more inclined to sew without stopping to narrate and edit, then throw that all into one big video, but if the cat supervisors say it's time to leave the fabric be for the day or you feel more inclined to be on the computer, then edit what you've got and post it if it feels right. To echo the other comments here: we're here for the art and the personality and the education, regardless of video length and scheduling. No one here will feel cheated or scammed or betrayed if you break schedule, no matter the reason. (Back when I was a paid creator, I had huge feelings of dread when I was even a day late with posts because I envisioned my patrons with an army of pitchforks, but I've since learned that really truly is not the case at all.)

D
Donna Shapleigh · March 6, 2026

We understand. Life happens, I'm happy whenever you post. But we don't expect you to burn yourself out to do it. Long, short, a week late, a quick patreon post, a long ramble, you do you. That's what we are here for. The picture of your ceiling was enough for me to think, " Bianca has a lot happening guess the Closet Historian will become the ceiling restoration for a bit." Give yourself grace, you are a beautiful human who is doing your best! Can't wait to see your new video, whenever it come out! Now hug the kitties for us! And take care of yourself. Virtual hugs!

S
Sew Knit Make · March 6, 2026

I did not read all the lovely comments so I might be repeating what somebody else already said but I’ll be one more data point anyway. I personally prefer the more frequent shorter videos because I don’t always have the uninterrupted time to watch a one hour video or more and it’s easier to fit smaller ones in my fragmented schedule. It also makes it seem more realistic because these projects do take time and I often feel disappointed that I can’t sew as much as I see others do. I think it’s worth it to slow down and really show that these pieces are investments of money AND time. Having said all that I also liked one of the suggestions before to make the progression videos for patreon and the longer instructional compilations for YouTube. That way you’re not adding extra projects to your plans but you are giving us an exclusive up close look at your process of creation. Whatever you end up deciding, protect your own peace and mental health. Do what’s right for you and only you can know what that is. The world is hard enough right now, we don’t need to make it harder on ourselves. Good luck and a virtual hug from the other side of the ocean. And some extra scritches for the felines.

S
Saoirse Graves · March 6, 2026

I'll echo the other comments here and say that both the season and your particular recent work/roof loads are very valid reasons to feel tired and worn out! Personally, I'm happy whenever I see a video from you - so if shorter more manageable installment-style videos feel good for you, that's great, but if releasing a project as a single cohesive longer video less frequently feels better for you - also great! I doubt anyone who knows your channel will begrudge you either option really... and I'm sure you could also mix it up when you needed as well. Part of what makes teaching an audience that they can do the thing is being realistic that the thing does indeed need to allow for flexibility and time for rest! <3

Very happy to have just parts of a project. I follow a couple of sewing creators who do the 'this is what I got done this week' which is sometimes a lot and sometimes not much at all. Life happens but also some projects take more head scratching and going back to the drawing board. I find seeing the process including the trials and tribulations very helpful. When the snow lifts pootle down to your local library and see what's on. The staff may also know of other groups that meet locally that might be of interest to you. It is harder if you're not able to meet up and chat with people who hopefully will become friends so don't beat yourself up about stuff. You do get an amazing amount of content done considering how complicated your projects often are. Looking at that first photo I would be interested in a video that showed just how you draft/create the pleating/folding element alone. Sending a virtual hug from across the pond 💚

It’s very common to ‘fall apart’ in February. It’s the Winter Blues, Seasonal Affective Disorder. Every decision is overwhelming, even doing the dishes is just too hard. No energy, constant food cravings, longing to crawl in a hole and not have to do anything. Monitoring and keeping my B12 and Vitamin D levels up has been the prevention for me. March brings relief. In the meantime, slow the heck down! Adjust your self imposed deadlines. Many YTers morph into chasing views, algorithms and ad $ and lose sight of who they are and the passion for which they started YT in the first place. Make your videos however is easiest for you. Remember when you were just longing to have a house, and here you are and have done SO MUCH already! Stop, sit, rest, pet cats, sip tea and stare out the window for an hour. Allow yourself an easier pace. Your juju will cone back. (I”m glad you see this as a safe place to be real, instead of disappearing without a word ) Sending big hugs 🤗

Don't worry, Bianca, we're here for you! 💕 Personally, I prefer shorter videos more often. Videos could be a skirt video and a blouse video. Or if it's easier for you, maybe more of a blog style where you get the bodice done in one video, the sleeves and trimming in the next video. I think people's attention spans are getting shorter as the years progress so more, shorter videos with whatever progress you have (no rushing to finish) is my vote. That being said, if you do longer videos that drop less often, I will still eat them up when you post them! 🥰🥰

We love a project in one fell swoop, but face it, we are hooked and will watch with anticipation for the next morsel :) then we can watch a playlist of the whole dang thing later on. I like to hear from you each week - I worry, if I don’t…. Your cats can’t give you soup or Tylenol if you’re sick or call 911 😬 I took a radical step: I was inspired by Charlie Nebe (another YouTube sewing introvert) to try a craft meetup at a library near me. You are young, and you will figure this adulting thing out just like the rest of us did. Don't expect to know all the answers this early in your life. Be kind to yourself as much as cuddling your precious furry babies. When you cuddle them you are also self soothing yourself, and who, I mean really who doesn't need that in this day and age??!! I am over 60, I did the corporate rat race, and believe me, I have learned in the past years, life is too short. Take time for cuddles, love, and peace. It is what we all need. I watch everything on your youtube as well as patreon and I wouldn't change a thing about you or your content that doesn't make a happier Bianca! We feel your essence no matter what you put out. When you are happy you make everyone, human or animal, happy! I will say that the one suggestion I read above, regarding taking us along on your walk through the cemetery would be absolutely the best treat in the world. I renovated a house alone in my late 30s/40s and it took forever it felt. And mine was more structural things so I had to save & then hire my carpenter guys again & again. But it ended up being one of the things I feel most happy about having done in my life. I had to sell & move, job reasons, economy tanked & I move back closer to family. But it is worth it. And your videos are keeping me going currently thru some things I got myself obligated to finish and have been soul-sucking… but someday, I want to be able to Sew All The Things I dream of… that fit ME…. so if it helps… you are actually helping me keep on keeping on. I am only 1 person, but just saying. So hang in there! Renovation is hard and it makes one feel “less than” for so long, but it will be worth it. And yes, it also takes time away from “other things” one wants to do…. but we, the viewers, like a mix of both. And maybe also… take stock. Count your accomplishments… LOOK at what you have DONE since just owning that house?! It’s amazing and gorgeous. And your sewing room is a thing of crazy mad FUN beauty! So give yourself a hug from me and remind yourself you are crazy productive & making beautiful things… and I think an In Process video is fun. I love seeing them! I don’t need a Polished Final Reveal Ending for each video. A video could also be a smaller portion: for example… how you are doing the beading… Bead & Chat? And also maybe How you do your cricut shapes for the stencils? Or a Stencil/Paint & Chat vlog? 🤷🏼‍♀️ I think you are sooo hard on yourself, Bianca… says the woman who is a bit behind herself. But I remember what renovating & living in a constantly not-finished needing attention house felt like.. for a few years. So - kudos to you, because you have done SO much in SO LITTLE TIME! So give yourself credit and go easy…. also take some tlc time each day… give yourself a hug, read our messages, bury your nose in a kitty tummy & breathe deep except they are shedding now so maybe not… Look at your beautiful sewing room (& if it’s messy who cares?! Look at the walls & the furniture & your amazing camera support! And soak it in…. and HUGS! I wish I had extra moola to send a big donation to help offset the shock if the leaks, but all I can send is words. So 🤷🏼‍♀️ Hang in there, you got this! 💪🏻👏🏻👍🏻 Cheering you on! Spring is coming soon & that will help.

Lynne Eie · March 6, 2026

I do not mind broken up projects… it feels more real and gives a bit of an incentive to keep following along… bit like each installment of the dressmaking series. I think that is why it is fun seeing the house come together slowly… ? Slow & steady wins the race and sometimes the extra work almost deserves the extra attention?? 🤔🤷🏼‍♀️

That's right: Screw the algorithm! I say, split the videos in parts if that works for you. And if all fails, release more archive Patreon videos on YouTube. Living on your own and maintaining a house as well as being self-employed is a big thing to handle. We'll be here for you, no matter what. <3

I don't calendar watch checking when it is due! I like the surprise of the email notification about a video or pod update. I really enjoy your decorating videos too. I would love to see you video a walk outside - as you did when you did a road trip some time ago. I wish I could figure out how to make a paragraphs when replying!!!!!!!! Big hug

🫂 part1/part2 is fine. I have to slow down every winter so I completely understand. You have a lot on your plate, with silence responsibility for a property, renovating it, and trying to run a business, all single-handedly, and with no support system. Try a weighted blanket for hug-replacement therapy. 💚

Your creativity and dedication are inspiring to all of us. I don’t even sew but I love watching your creative process and listening to your commentary. I’ve discovered your channel in the last year and have watched a few of your older videos. A repeating theme is you expressing disappointment in not meeting your hugely ambitious goals. I think that protecting yourself from creative burnout and physical exhaustion is mandatory. You have more on your plate now as the steward of an old Victorian house, and emergency repairs are really stressful. I prefer longer in depth videos but someone above suggested costumed tea parties with the cats and I’m here for that too!

Deva Lael Lune · March 6, 2026

I think pleasing Patreon supporters is easier than pleasing youtube, as we have all already decided we like your content enough to pay for it directlly and want to support your work even if it takes longer than expected. And trying to please youtube's algorithm seems to be a game with frequently moving goal posts.... As someone who has spent a lot of time overthinking creative projects, I might suggest that the best thing to do would be to test breaking up a project into multiple videos and see how it goes. It might make things harder, so then you won't do it again. But maybe it will actually help. Of course if you really do prefer to keep each project to a single video, I'd say just do that.

T
Tiana nordstrom · March 6, 2026

My 2 cents for what it’s worth Patreon and your subscribers are your income. But YouTube directs new subscribers to your Patreon. For a compromise, make Patreon your regular posting channel with the short videos of your projects in stages. We LOVE content. Maybe the stage by stage videos could be more in depth? Offer more engagement like polls, for a drafting only video of a style that might not be something you would wear. For example, a 1930s silky number with double ended darts, a side zipper and no waist seam? Or high busted Regency type flowy thing. Then on projects where you complete the mini videos here, you edit to a longer video for the channel. I have noticed a number of historical sewing and other creative channels which were popular mid and post Covid have all said the views are going away, regardless of how consistent they were at posting. Many have moved their content to Patreon and have fewer videos on YouTube. I ramble. In summary, do more content here. Could be a combo of 1. shorter videos of bigger projects broken down here; 2. A monthly poll and drafting only video suggested by subscribers to show how to make things you don’t want for your wardrobe; 3. Full project start to finish video on the channel, whenever you get it done with an early preview. Also remind viewers on the channel of how much content you have on Patreon. I love everything you do. Sending hugs

I would be happy for the occasional long, long video, where you just record what you are doing/ saying, without any editing afterwards (except maybe cutting out loo or lunch breaks) so we could just sit back with some knitting or hand sewing and watch as you work along. Anybody else up for that?

B
Bunny1 · March 6, 2026

I like watching you create art, and as an artist I understand that the creative muse goes one way or another and I think it's important to follow it rather than trying to force it to keep doing one thing over and over. So I think you should do whatever is best for your creative process. I suspect that shorter videos might still be a lot of work to make, so maybe less often would be better? Take some rest and get that therapist if you can! I also live alone so I really get the not having hugged anyone in several months feeling. It's... not great, and not super sustainable, you will probably need to address it somehow. At least getting a therapist gives someone to talk to some weeks? Um. Anyway! I enjoy your decorating videos the absolute most. Also, would you be interested in doing something where you ask your followers to send in their art to share? That could be fun. I bet a lot of us are creatives too. <3

Personally I prefer "per X hours of work, get out a video", but because it is easier for YOU (I assume). Feels more like " ok, workday is done, now I am _allowed_ to relaxe/go to therapy/..." In my little world you're such an mood-lifter that I take what you offer, just hoping that you continue spreading those glamourus ideas and knowledge forever™.

P
Puck · March 6, 2026

I would be up for whatever you decide to do but would prefer longer videos less regularly, but I can imagine that despite how you feel now you do want to please the algorithm, so really, do what you have to do. And I agree, this year has been hard, I never saw myself as a seasonal depression person (it was more a year round thing, often getting worse in summer) but this year was hard. Maybe it is just a change in hormones but I am struggling with the pressure of everything myself, which sucks because I had just cane back from a burnout a little over a year ago and at times I feel like I'm already slipping back . So do what you have to do, cuddle those boys and girl whenever you can and enjoy them. I live alone as well, and hate touch but even I need a hug from time to time so I can imagine how it must be not having had real human contact since November.

Hi Bianca - I really relate to the double whammy of being burnt out by so much work to do (I have a full time tech job and I'm a writer) and the depressing feeling that the world has turned into 1930's Germany. I'm amazed by how consistently you produce quality videos almost every week - I have a channel and I haven't posted in a while because the work load at my day job has become so heavy. Moving halfway across the country AND buying a house all in one shot would exhaust anyone. Heck, I'd love to see a video of you having a tea party with your cats, dressed to the nines - that would give you a fun break! But as for video length, I like videos that are 30-40 minutes long, so I can watch while I eat breakfast or dinner. But "installment" videos that comprise a single project would be great. Frankly, I'd enjoy seeing the beautiful fabrics over and over, so said installments would be right up my alley. But I'll continue to support you on Patreon no matter how often you post. AND - for your next major collection of looks, I would LOVE to see you make a jacket similar to those by Robert Wun, especially in his Fall/Winter 2024/25 collection. Thank you for all the engaging content you've produced so far!

Firstly, I want to say that I will literally be thrilled with anything you put out. You taught me to sew in 2021. I was working shift work, and was worried about investing a lot of money in learning, as I didn't know if I'd stick with it. Your commitment to accessibility and not hiding skill-sharing behind a paywall is incredibly inspiring, and is a delicious "fuck you" to capitalist hegemony. But it also helped me to develop a skill and passion that has helped ground and soothe me over these last tumultuous years. For that, I am more grateful that I can express, so thank you. Please remember that you give us so much when it feels like the world is becoming harder and meaner. In terms of video length, I am happy with either. But I love the idea of shorter, chattier vlog style videos, which can then be turned into a longer video with the theatrically in presentation you do so well. Skill sharing is such a beautiful and wholesome thing to do. It's inspired me to start a skill sharing group in my community. I'm close to the city, but live in an area where there is a fun, urban community vibe, but I'm generally a loner and don't really engage well, lol. Haley Marie Vintage prompted the idea, and I love it as another way to give my own "fuck you" to capitalism. Maybe we can skill share darning, while planning the next protest, or make beautiful beaded placards? Finally, your house stresses triggered an anxiety response deep in my soul, lol. We had a huge hole that had to be monitored closely (aka, having to take turns working from home to babysit) until we had the money and tradies to replace a whole section of the roof. It is painful, and it takes a toll, so please be gracious in feeling your feelings. Most of all, please be kind and generous to yourself. I'm a child protection social worker. I am completely dedicated to my work, and have spent the last year regularly working 12-14hrs a day. But I'm currently on leave, because my body and soul need time to heal from intense burnout. None of us want to see you under too much stress or to completely burnout. So please be mindful that your working conditions are on par with those you'd support in any other area. Please take care, sending you the most profoundly wholesome vibes xx

I am wrestling with these same issues. Having nobody nearby with whom to relate, confide, trust, or hug, is tough and maintaining high standards as an artist, on the public stage, on a very regular basis, under the intense scrutiny and judgement of others is another story. The anxiety-inducing news is really difficult to manage and the winter has been harsh. Discovering your channel, back in 2021, was the inspiration for my music channel. Your individuality and attention to detail, passion for your craft and compassion for others, not to mention your self-awareness and your sense of humour, your love of working at your craft, independently, from your basement, building a career “out of the ether” as you once said, was all so very curious and compelling to me. Long or short, I love most, the videos where you are happy, creating the unique and sometimes unusual designs that light your fire. I still remember the hologram realtor of the future outfit and the Tyvek you used in a project. The thrift hauls were quite entertaining and I liked when you and your Mom went out for footage outside for the reveals (though I know that is no longer possible.) It’s been remarkable to follow you for the past few years, from my little place here. Technology can be super cool! You have said in the past, how longer videos are more up your alley, so to speak and if I had to guess, I’d say it’s still the case. That said, the guilt over not having a video to put out on a regular basis is very real and incredibly difficult on a person, especially given your high standards. I really hope that you can keep on envisioning new creative paths in your own, inimitable way, yet also keep healthy, sane and safe in these uncertain times. I'll be here for as long as I am able. I have noticed that short-form content has taken off, big-time, plus there are so many more creators than even just a year ago. The landscape has changed considerably. Myself, I cannot stand the shorts feed, however, oddly enough, I do enjoy making them and have found that there are views to be had. It’s a great place to try out ideas and also has let me bide some time while more labour-intensive projects are prepared. I’m reluctant to mention the word shorts at all here, because I know how you feel about them. It’s perhaps a small thing to mull over in your mind, with a cookie, as you cuddle a cat. One last thing, for what it’s worth, as it has helped me to find somewhat of a railing to hold onto, mentally and creatively speaking, and that is this quote from Frank Lloyd Wright (whose work I know you love, as do I): “I believe that in the search for the answer lies the answer.” Making the decisions that feel right, one step at a time has been helpful to me. Take care, Bianca!❤️

Truly and honestly, I really don't care. I dont keep track of what you've put out or when it came out or how many videos have been posted this month or when they were posted and when the next one might be posted. I’m happy with short videos. I’m also happy with long videos. I’m happy with sewing videos, though I don’t sew, and with crafting videos, though I don’t craft, and with decorating videos, though my house is a modern thing that is nice but will never be the least bit unique.. I enjoy your work, your knowledge, your craftsmanship and your impeccable attention to detail. Also, I treasure your sense of humor and am grateful that you share it with us. It’s true that a lot has fallen on you in recent weeks, and the bad news is that things generally get worse before they get better. But they do get better. ( I get to say that because I’m an old lady and I wouldn’t trade being an old lady for anything that I can think of). Winter is long, and longer in upstate NY than in other places. But you get to watch the spring wake up around you. Take heart. Here for you.

S
Savannah Carpener · March 6, 2026

My two cents is that smaller projects and smaller segments of big projects can be just as instructional and inspiring! It makes it easier to focus on instructional detail and technique, and also it makes the whole process less intimidating. I for one am working through a lot of change in my life at the moment (house buying and job seeking in a new city) and i'm coping with like. Small projects that use zero brain power. So for me, personally, little videos with smaller project elements would be perfect, because everything is already so overwhelming. It's nice to be reminded that the little bits of joy and creation all add up.

I personally don't care about the schedule. You do whatever works for you. Please don't burn out. I know it is an issue with content creators and I follow some who have decided to slow down as well as some who have been sick and had to take time off like dr. Hugs to you and kitties!

I don't think I need the payoff of a final product to enjoy the setup work of a complicated project. If it works better for you to release in stages I would definitely still watch. It doesn't particularly matter to ME what day you release, but I am more able to drop everything and watch on Thursdays/Fridays/Saturdays rather than earlier in the week, if it makes a difference to YOU/the algorithm that people watch them right away. So feel free to do whatever works for you, is the TL;DR :) I enjoy your work whenever and however you present it.

And I like the idea of you spending a bit more time on how inspiration turns into a project idea. So two videos per project, an inspiration video and a making video not only sounds good, it also sounds like a more reasonable work schedule for you. Truth be told, my projects take months to complete. I only expect it to take marginally less time for you. 😉

First...you get virtual hugs from us. I hope you can feel them. Regarding breaking a project into multiple videos or a doing a longer one from start to finish...I look forward to every video you put out. It makes my day. When a longer video comes out, I wait until I have enough time to sit, appreciate and absorb. It can take a few days or longer to have that time. A shorter block of time is easier to come by....even as a retired person. Your creative process and teaching details for each step would fit nicely into multiple videos. Then your next episode becomes something enjoyable I can anticipate. I hope that would also give you time to enjoy the process of creating. Create art you are proud of and give yourself grace.

As much as I like watching a project from start to finish, I also enjoy watching a project in segments. So, smaller videos that (maybe) later get grouped into longer ones would be my preference. I sometimes go back and watch your thrifting hauls, collections management and wardrobe declutter videos. I'm sure a video on any of those themes or similar would be welcome should you want to take a break from creating every now and then. That said, I don't think you should hold yourself to a strict schedule if it's causing burnout. (I also understand that to some extent, content creators are slaves to the algorithm and regular videos might get more engagement, so I can appreciate the quandary you may be in). All of this is to say: I adore your videos, no matter what you put out for us. Your personality, aesthetic and production quality and cat cameos are second to none.

C
Colleen H · March 6, 2026

If a regular posting schedule helps you as an internal deadline, stick with that. But if it makes you feel rushed/stressed/guilty if things take longer, then put up the videos when you feel happy with what you’re sharing. Several of my other favorite sewing/crafting creators have come to post less regularly over the years but each video is fun and shows off an amazing project. I like progress videos personally so shorter (20-30 min) videos as a project progresses appeals to me more than longer videos of the start-to-finish project. But do what works best for you, I’ll watch everything you post regardless!

As someone who can get burnt out/motivationless at times, I'd say keep to a semi-schedule at least rather than just "when it's done. " But otherwise, do what makes you feel good. If you force yourself to churn out just because you feel you have to, it's only going to make the burnout worse, which can only be a detriment to the creative process. Speaking for myself, I'm here for as long as I can be. What you've taught me already has my lifetime membership.

I like longer videos, and I also like short videos. My favorite are the kind that are the most sustainable for the person making them. It obvious that a change needs to happen, as evidenced by your burn out. The only thing I would caution is that creators tend to let projects feature creep when they don't have any deadlines at all, and the videos take literal years to come out. Those videos are exceptionally good when they do come out, but the wait is substantial. Not saying that you would do this, it's just a pattern I see. I know moving to every other week or once a month really helped other creators like Rachel Maksy and Nicole Rudolph. Maybe that is the way forward. Give yourself a little more breathing room, especially since you don't have an editor to help you. I would prefer if you enjoyed your projects. I would also maybe not post things in multiple parts unless it made perfect sense to do it that way (like the Victorian projects). Not only does the algorithm hate them, but successive parts get lost, hidden, or hard to find by YouTube which makes them difficult to watch. YouTube is bad at telling people when one video has been published, much less 2 or 3. Hope that helps!

My favorite part of your videos is seeing you make clothes that are extremely your personal style and hearing you chat through the process and also chat about your non-sewing life. I don't think videos of parts of projects instead of opera of complete projects gets in the way of that at all! I love the house updates and they are not always "complete"! I prefer edited videos rather than livestreams, but otherwise, I'm happy with whatever video plans make you happy! I like you and like your videos, I wish only joy and fulfillment for your youtube career :)

Totally agree with you!

Sections of projects in their own video sounds great ... Especially if it's more manageable for you and the interns. Anyone who wants to watch a longer video can just watch two back to back

I think you should release your videos when you (and the item you're making) is ready, or at a good stopping point. Don't feel obliged to release a video every week (although getting a message in text form so we know you're still alive and mothering your cats is nice).

I am a fan of the thing that makes it so you can keep doing what you do! Speaking more specifically though, as an experienced sewist and novice drafter, I love the idea of a longer project broken into parts. Lets me get into the nitty gritty of the skills needed, as well as lets me see the specifics of the "how". But, like anm8rchick, below, I'll watch anything you put out, and I feel like a lot of us here are like that. You are honestly a soothing oasis in this world full of sh*te.

I love your content however you do it. Do what makes you happy and I will be delighted to watch the results. 💖

I like the idea of a shorter video that doesn't necessarily show a whole project. A weekly or every other week check in video, that's part sewing project, part blog or house update, or part cute cat footage, would be lovely. Do you ever watch Arielle Bisset's videos? She does a cute check list for a project and crosses out items as they're done, so even videos where a *whole* project isn't completed have a sense of accomplishment. Just thoughts!! Sending you good cozy vibes!

I was going to suggest breaking up projects into multiple videos and then after I kept reading, you mentioned it 😅 Considering there are YouTubers who spend half their video talking about what they're going to do before they even show any progress and still have a lot of followers I am sure your viewers won't mind a slight change

You know, you could probably live stream parts of your process like the beading or sewing and then chop up that footage for a shorter video But… I’ll watch anything you put out either here or the yt

I prefer videos at least 30 minutes long, but that allows for either option. Maybe no more than 90 minutes? So most projects would probably fall in that range, but maybe any longer could be broken up? I kinda like regular videos, but fewer longer videos would provide the same amount of content overall. I dont think I'm helpful here lol.
