Happy New Year!! Just a quick update this time, as I'm knee deep in my little fiction work break and eager to dive back in...Thank you for your support!

I feel you on the stash busting. I need to clean out my stash and I'm challenging myself to sew again this year. A friend wants a walking dress similar to one she saw on The Gilded Age, but I'm giving myself compassionate deadlines as this is going to be a big stretch for me.

Happy New Year! Love to you and your cats. One question; since you mentioned you are a fiction writer, do you have anything published so I can buy it? (Just another way to support you.) Well anyway, I can't wait to see your next episode.

Thank you Christina! I have never had anything published. It's sooo much admin to find a literary agent that I never seem to find the extra time. Hopefully I can carve out a few weekends to try and make progress on seeking representation this next year!

Happy New Year! I'm new here but been a lurker on your Youtube channel for many years. I heard you mention your love of Japanese textiles, kimono and haori! Have you ever taken any kimono lessons? There's lots of kitsuke teachers in the Northeast if that would be your jam. I just got back from Japan and brought back sooo many kimono so that I can keep incorporating them into my wardrobe. Half the fun of kimono lessons is looking through the teacher's kimono stash. :)

Thank you Cristy! I would love to learn to wear my kimono, I do buy them in (well as close to) my size as I can when I indulge. I would need to learn some sort of padding situation, because getting my curvy self properly tube shaped for obi tying is /not/ easy 😂 I would be a menace in Japan, the second hand kimono market online is already too good, in person I can't even imagine

I'm looking forward to seeing you do Sutash. I have always liked the look and feel, but have never tried it.

I have lived in many houses and apartments. I have yet to find one square corner. I don't think they exist.

Hooray, glad to hear you're treating your brain to some writing! Using up stash stuff is a good plan, which I also need to do better at... It would be fun to try some colour blocking, or medieval inspired particolour stuff, to use up some small remnants.

T
The Closet Historian · January 7, 2026

I struggle with using my favorite fabrics in the stash becuase I want to make tried and true styles I know I'll actually wear and love, but then I'm sewing repeats all the time which I fear makes for uninteresting videos 😂

Happy New Year! I 1000% agree with you regarding people using their own brain to create. Skills not used are eventually lost. It's sad that so many rely on AI programs to think for them. I just moved into an old house. It's only 99 years old, but I know exactly what you mean about nothing being straight! Now I can (gradually) start working on those projects inspired by your work in your house.

Happy New Year Marcia! Thinking makes us human, I don't want to outsource thinking...that's bonkers to me 😫 Talk about ghost in the shell, why are we alive but to think and write and create and cook and grow?!?
