Early Access // This Week's Video

I have just arrived in New York state, and I'd love to tell you what it looks like here, but it's pitch black dark out there! I'll have to fill you in when I get back.

To prepare for being out of the office, I've got this week's Thursday video finished already and uploaded. I can't wait to wear this coatdress once it finally cools down. Have a great Monday!

Beautiful! Black is so timeless. I wish it were easier to see the details on my phone, I cant zoom in on Patreon videos. Need to pull out the laptop and watch again. I hope house hunting is fruitful. The Mohab photos were a wonderful surprise, thankyou.

Hi Bianca, I have a long-winded comment below-- it is feedback, but at the same time, unsolicited, so please free to ignore it. As someone who watches your content while knitting or chilling, I really enjoy them as "process" type videos, in the sense of "watch me make this garment". For someone who wants to make it, or even understand the thinking behind the design, this info is more difficult to access. Something like -- highlighting a particular patternmaking, tailoring, sewing technique n one of these videos (+ a chapter marker to jump to the section) -- means that someone looking how to do a thing can find it, and also, if they are interested-- watch the whole video at a later time. Your vintage sewing videos are kind of structured this way fundamentally -- because you are explaining how make design elements -- whether it is hip swags, or a ruched front, etc. A comparison of the initial sketch and the final object (pointing out details, showing the finishing of the garment, etc) -- would give structure and space to explore of the most challenging part of the design, how you adapted, why the motifs are arranged in the way they are on the coat --- all of these would give the viewer a better sense of the design process and how to apply it to their own projects. This could even be a video with a discussion of similar type jackets-- that show the shared design elements and throw people out to the original videos. (the cataloging catalogues videos is one of my favorite series to watch for this reason). You frequently bring up the dilemma of simple vs complex in your video narrations, which seems to map onto to the dichotomy of teacher vs artist. I don't think that the two have to be at odds with each other. As you've said before, what looks "difficult" in principle is not significantly different from a simple project-- because they all rely on the same foundational skills (the difficulty is re: finishing, embellishment, etc). Your channel stands out because of the originality of your vision and artistry. The last thing I would want for you is to compromise on these things, or feel like you "have" to make something you don't want. Best of luck on the house hunt, and safe travels.

If you wear this to house viewings, they might just hand over the keys! Wow! I'm happy to know you're finally getting to look at houses.💙I rode the Amtrak thru Albany when I was a student in Rochester. Upstate has a lot of high calibre music performances, Eastman, Chautauqua and Glimmerglass, to name a few. There are old homes all over and the Catskills are divine to drive through. Best of all, NYC isn't far! Fingers crossed! Have a cookie to keep up your strength.

The Japanese-inspired elements look SO COOL. And I didn't clock the Matrix vibes until you mentioned it, but once you did, *absolutely* yes. What a neat project!

Welcome to NY! Buffalo is beautiful and sunny today, I hope you get the same weather to enjoy your adventures today. I love all these blazer iterations. The structure/movement you create through fabric choice and construction is a bit of alchemy, and it is inspiring. Someday, I will bravely try it out!
