A Gothic Capelet, but at what cost?
Oof. I was trying to finish this gothic stained glass rose window cape (in flocked velvet htv on cotton pique, giant hood) in time to put it all together for this weeks video...but I finished it at 5pm yesterday, and there was just no way I could edit a video in under 24 hours 😅
So reader, I made the cape, but at what cost? The cost of a video this week, as the channel will now be sitting lonely today. I HATE missing a video, because I know I'm letting people down. I too love the routine of sitting down for my favorite creators new videos. I am a very routine based person, I know it's disappointing when I go MIA. I dream of one day having a handful of videos in an emergency box that I can have on hand to avoid these breaks in the schedule, but I need a clone of me to make them.
I have simply taken on too large of projects this round of creative fervor. I'm not even done with the sequinning (almost!). I just figure I should be able to have an idea and then POOF within a few hours it should be a real finished item. The trouble is real clothes and detailed embellishments take time, more time than I want to spend, but I can't cut those corners, I won't allow it!
So epic things are coming to the channel...next month. I need to go make a skirt for next week's video today...but I hope you like this sneak peek at the capelet coming soon-ish!

I like to think that TCH share your values, and that absolutely means fair working conditions! I 100% understand that feeling of creative satisfaction you get finally finishing something you've poured your heart and soul into it...but please don't ever work yourself stupid for the 'algorithm' or because you think any of us demand it. Delays, multiple part videos, lives, reflections on old videos, behind the scenes videos...these all sound amazing and I know everyone would love them even more knowing they were helping you maintain a better work-life balance

Hello Bianca…I really understand what you are saying here. I always think that I can make the clothes that I have in my head, instantly! Like “Oh, that won’t take long ..just a day or so…” Never takes that time, it always seems to take three or four times the time that it takes in my head! And, it is soooo exasperating for me, especially as I really need the clothes because I never buy clothes, only make them. So, I have a pile of projects, books, patterns, cloth that I will make at some stage although with increasing age, my abilities and dexterity decrease more quickly now, than when I was 20 years younger. You are a fast and fantastic creator, and you are right to set your sights high and not to compromise at your age. You have a good audience and we can wait. Kind regards, Orkadia.
I think seeing it finished would be enough compensation for everyone :) But seriously, you're not letting us down. You just had grand idea and it takes time. It's okay, don't rush it, because then you won't be happy with the result. And it's fine to not do everything on strict schedule, we only have 24 hours in a day, we have to still eat and sleep. I understand it so well, I would also want to start something and have it finished in an hour. But it's just our brains playing tricks with us and we can't let balls of meat with some electricity to treat us like that 😁
You are definitely not letting people down! If there isn't a video ready then that's just how it is. Some things take longer than others to do and this looks well worth the wait. Try not to over do it and burn yourself out, take as long as it takes to do things healthily. You have so many other videos we can go back and rewatch in the meantime x

I think that most agree, your genius and vision cannot be rushed. Maybe a short sneak peak or like a “found footage” of random items with little to no explanation - would take some pressure off you and whet our appetites??
There are plenty of creators who do one item over a number of episodes. I am OK with that, I love watching the process and I'm sure I'm not alone. As much as I love your content, I don't live how much pressure you put yourself under to achieve it. It cones out when it comes out and we'll still be here 🤗

I love the Livestream idea! I think there has to be ways to make this a little easier on yourself, your release /output rate is insane.
I ask myself sometimes, if you can really comprehend how much joy and even happienes you bring to this world. Your shoulders are there to carry the brilliant head of yours and not this ungodly burden of not having a video out there every week. I am excited throu the roof and i can wait as long as it takes.
Sometimes things happen, which make it impossible to put out a video. I think it hurts the creator most. I'm still here, like so many other folks who appreciate your high standards and thoughtfulness!

That looks absolutely incredible. If you want to keep weekly content but also do massive projects could you do an occasional live stream where you chat whilst sequining? Don’t push yourself too hard to be a slave to the algorithm

There is nothing to feel guilty about; weekly videos are a huge job, and we don't mind you taking time rather than pushing yourself to exhaustion!

The capelet looks gorgeous though. And I am the same. I always think I will just do something and it will only take a few hours. It never just takes a few hours. So while I get why you would feel this way. I think we all get it and sometimes that's just life.

So awesome looking! Don’t be hard on yourself. You do realize that writing to us and posting pictures is creative content! I did get to see you this week through this post and I love your content of ALL types and formats. Some weeks can be videos others pictures and yet others letters to us your friends. All are welcome and great.
