Realization I just made: Gary only wanted the cookie in Patrick's pants. Immediately prior to this revelation, Patrick and Gary were playing the roles of "the ex and the ex's new partner." Were they saying all Gary wanted was Patrick's "cookie," and once he got it, he didn't need him anymore and went back to SpongeBob? That's kind of messed up.
It's not a funny episode and I don't remember laughing once. It's just a whole 11 minute episode of toxicity. Patrick wasn't a good friend and in fact, I would not hang out with him after that again.
I don't hate the episode but it's definitely weaker than its partner episode "Survival of the Idiots" (which is one of my favorites if not my favorite episode)

I’m-a be real going back to this episode it reminds me of how I felt when I’d barely make a new friend only to lose them so quickly… It’s why I cling to those who have stuck around and genuinely want me around. As a kid, I could relate and feel annoyed with SpongeBob on this one. I felt and saw both sides of the coin.
I definitely know what you mean. I was wondering why I responded so strongly to the episode and I think it might've triggered me a little too. I think it hits some of us with rough friend memories a bit too hard
this episode is funny to me because when I think about it, I think “ oh it’s not that bad. People are just overreacting” Then I sit down and watch it like I just did, and yeah it sucks! It’s really bad one of the worst of season 2!
I love that you dragged the review on just like the episode. Though for me personally, I’m with Stupid is worse.
I give modern SpongeBob this, Patrick went through a renaissance. He’s way nicer, very funny and even adorable at times.
