Video: Thomas & Friends Review Ep0 - & thank you :)
Thank you for the interest from new patrons! And thank you to longer Patrons for offering me your time 🙂 It's been an honor to see multiple new people interested in following my videos here or just in offering some support. I really enjoyed reviewing this first episode and let me know if you'd be interested in seeing more of these Thomas reviews 🙂 Or let me know if you have any episode suggestions. I was planning to review Thomas episode 2 next. Just going to review a couple of Spongebob episodes first.

Something I want to now is that the reconstruction was done using rushes. A(n admittedly low-pixel) screenshot posted online revealed that a different take was used of Thomas passing under the bridge, but as it likely was too degraded for restoration, the scene featured in Mattel's official release is instead taken from the final series (as is the long-elusive shot of Thomas in the yard that was, for years, the only shot that we were 100% certain was from the pilot). Of course, it's still amazing that this happened, and I don't want to knock the achievement. I feel that The Unlucky Tug did a great video analyzing various aspects of the pilot, including what changed going into the full series and why Down the Mine was chosen as the story to use for this test pilot.
So, as I understand it, the pilot Down The Mine didn't actually air first, but was rather what they made to pitch the show. The version of the episode that aired later on is different from the pilot version, with different models and the like. Chronologically, this takes place after Off The Rails, in which Gordon falls into a ditch, which is why Thomas is teasing him about smelling ditch water.
Going to be brave, going to watch one of my favorite Yuotubers review Scary Train Face Show. Will be brave...will be brave...
Oh, this makes me feel so very nostalgic! I think of watching Shining Time Station, where I was introduced to Thomas.
Wait, Ringo was the narrator?
Yup! He started as the first narrarator but they went through a few different people over the years
Now that was a blast from the past!
One of my favorite shows growing up!
My favorite episode of Thomas is Duncan gets spooked from season 5. I would love to see a review for this episode.
I grew up watching the american version, but still good show
Thomas saying Gordon smells like ditch water is a reference to the previous story in the original book series Thomas is based on, where Gordon falls into some ditch water. Down the Mine takes place shortly after that story, which is also why Gordon says he's in disgrace because he lost his position as the express engine after he fell into the ditch.
Ohhh right gotcha. I still remember the song "silly old gordon fell in a ditch" I think from later in season 1. Looking forward to checking out that episode when I get to it
