Mr. Poob you got to get yourself an older model Jeep Cherokee, they're sexy lil boxy SUVs. Preferably the 97 to 01 model because they come with all the fancy doodads and airbags. The 4.0 L inline 6 engine is absolutely unstoppable as long as you do regular up keep. And you can basically take apart the entire car with a screwdriver and a wrench. Mine is a 98 model that I bought back in 2015, and she's amazing. It'll get you anywhere you need to go whether there's a road or not, and did I mention my car payment is only $54 a month? We're scrounging for pennies and get paid by the job, so mechanics that suck at their job upsell unnecessary shit for a couple extra bucks. Poob, you really can't go wrong with Honda and Toyota. Honda civic, Honda accord, Toyota corolla, and Toyota camry are all reliable, affordable, and cheap to maintain sedans. If you need some extra space and all wheel drive then there's the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. You never mentioned your budget, but these cars can be found $10k-20k depending on mileage and age. Hope this helps

I'm a mechanic and from the sounds of it you just need new pads and rotors If you really do need calipers too you'll know after you get the pads and rotors changed I think they are just trying to get more money out of you And don't get a Kia or Hyundai without a lifetime engine warranty they go out all the time from just regular driving

Poob, Honda/Acuras are always a good pick in terms of reliability and fuel efficiency. VWs are also pretty nice but will be higher priced. IF you look at a Volkswagen look for one with a 2.5 in it. Those things are solid. On the flip side, it will cost more to maintain if you really want to take care of it. I personally recommend a 2010+ Volkswagen Jetta, or Golf. If Hondas are something you’re interested in I recommend a newer Accord, Civic, or TL. A good condition 04-08 Acura TL runs around the 10k mark. They have good 3.2 V6s and get good mileage on top of nice interiors. If you look for a Kia/Hyundai MAKE SURE it has whatever update needed so that it can’t be stolen with a usb cable (Kia boys)

Hey Poob and Sam (and Bryan), been listening to the cast since 2021, right after I graduated high school and started working in a UPS warehouse, all the tomfoolery, sillies, stories, and serious discussions (?) kept me entertained for nearly 3 years in that dusty ass warehouse. You guys yappin in my ear helped me get through some rough times believe it or not. Poob should get a Jeep Compass. Affordable, good in the winter, and fairly reliable as long as he actually maintains it. Bought a 2018 one last year with zero issues.
