Special Devlog : New year's resolution and conclusions from 2022.
Hey there, and happy new year!
I hope you all had a joyful end of the year spent doing what you loved with the people you love.
I thought that it would be a good time, to talk about things and summarize what happened in 2022.
2022 was a disaster, in the simple fact that I published a single, very short update for ToU.
For most of the year I wondered "How can I get back that will to work, why am I unable to just boot Studio and WORK?!"
For the longest time I though that I needed to change things and to a certain extend, yes.
You see, I settled.
I accepted that I just couldn't push myself to work hard enough for my projects to work, I gave in, and tried to find alternative ways to well, make a living, only to be met with disappointment.
I looked back at ToU and felt, like it was bad, I felt insecure and sad about it.
And yet, everytime some of my friends be it IRL or not, or even family, yes some members of my family saw my work, were all met with genuine astonishment and surprise.
I was humbled, perhaps I had what it took, to actually make it out there, and I know I do, so after my first loss of data which bummed my moral, I decided to work on a project that could be better, cleaner and P:Jericho was born.
I got the first beta out, was pretty proud of it and then I sat back.
I was simply scared and annoyed that my games, were not "Perfection".
A bad render, a shitty scaling, a little bit of clipping here or there.
A cringeworthy line.
And then I felt like, well it doesn't have to be perfect, it doesn't have to be that one game that will carry all the other on it's shoulders.
And so I accepted to do what I wanted, and oh, the bliss, working felt enjoyable, atleast, I spent more time appreciating working.
But now it isn't enough, I need to face reality I need to work and to get stuff done at a regular and reasonable pace.
And so I decided yesterday after my 2 days long vacation offered by my internet provider to work on Trimestrial releases.
It's a lengthy period, allowing me more than enough time to rest while still being productive.
And it's a promise I HAVE to uphold, I want and NEED to live from ToU & Project: Jericho and I want people to not donate because "Poor Stronk is in shambles IRL"
But because you genuenly felt something playing my projects.
And so I am happy to announce that Tales of Unity 0.11 will be released the 23rd of January 2023 and no, this time I won't escape it!
And starting this date, you'll get atleast one update of Project: Jericho or of Tales of Unity every 3 month max.
It's my sole resolution for 2023, get stuff out reguraly, and make it fun and enjoyable!
So I'm back to tightening up my leash around my own neck I'll slowly get my patreon count back to where it was.
Y'know what, I'll work right now.
Have a sweel beginning of this new year stay safe and take care!
