Preview: Time Magic

A unique school of magic that has various utility effects and a unique interaction with physical damage. The haste aura allows the caster to occasionally perform additional actions, while the fate aura can be used to multiply physical damage output over time. Extremely high damage output, but takes time to set up.

Auras

  • Haste: Dramatically increases the caster's defense, scaling with the number of stacks. Also, once the caster has ten stacks of haste, the caster has a chance to consume 10 stacks of haste to act an additional time after their turn. The odds of this occurring increasing with each stack.

  • Fate: Targets under the fate aura do not take damage from direct physical attacks, instead physical damage from direct attacks is converted into additional fate stacks, and the attacker gains an amount of MP. Both of these effects are influenced by the power of the physical attack. If the fate aura reaches 99 stacks, the target suffers the karmic wheel effect and takes an extreme amount of fire damage. The karmic wheel effect cannot be dispelled and never misses.

Spells

  • Aetherflame: Deals light fire damage. Grants the caster a number of haste stacks based on the amount of fate stacks on the target. If this spell critically hits a target under the effect of the fate aura, the caster gains additional haste stacks.

  • Firelight form: Deals light fire damage to both the target and the caster. Grants the caster 6 stacks of haste. If the caster has 0 stacks of haste or if this spell critically hits, this spell instead grants 16 stacks of haste. If the target is under the effect of the fate aura, the caster gains 6 additional stacks of haste.

  • Deathmarch: Deals moderate fire damage and inflicts 3-6 stacks of fate on the target. If the target has 50 or more fate stacks when this spell is cast, the karmic wheel effect will be triggered, but the damage will be prorated based on the number of fate stacks consumed.

Expertise

  • Rank 1: When granted a second turn by the haste aura, Iris gains 10 stacks of brave.

  • Rank 2: When Iris perfectly deflects a physical attack from an enemy under the effects of the fate aura, she deals counter damage to them based on her defense.

  • Rank 3: When using deathmarch to trigger the karmic wheel effect, the damage is calculated as though the target had 99 stacks of fate, regardless of the actual number of stacks.
