A Small Hiccup
Typically, between issues, I take a little time off from this Patreon. It lets me write out all of my ideas and prep for the next issue, especially in the event of an issue-ending vote (like #17).
I paused billing for January to do this, but I've noticed that for some reason it did not pause right away. That means that it looks like, from what I can see, is that some people were charged $2 for January, and some people were not. I have no way to identify who without manually going through each Patron one by one.
I am not prepared to start Issue #18 yet, and I have no pages for this month. However some Patrons paid for content. So here is my proposal:
Some time ago I began outlining (and writing) a standalone story set in the Starcaster universe. I didn't get super far, and honestly I don't know if I'll ever take it all the way. Maybe I will, who knows. I like the concept, I'm just notoriously short on time.
But I do have a chapter of it, in a rather rough, unedited, unpolished state that I would normally never release, but... I'm going to give it to you as content for January. Consider it a look at a maybe-someday-will-be project. I don't get a lot of time to write like this, so maybe it sucks, but you can let me know. Or you can let me know if you like it, too, and maybe that gives me the push to work on it some more.
Either way, I apologize for whatever happened that resulted in Patreon not pausing correctly this month. I have February paused as well, so Patreon will be keeping an eye on it to make sure it works this time.

I want to read this book. Please write it!
Loved it, thank you!
I got an email saying my payment was paused for February. So I just checked my billing history and it did bill me in January (didn't even notice until now). So I guess Patreon took it upon itself to fix whatever mistake happened to some of us in January by pausing February instead.
Yay! Another story! Just like Wintereenmas from years ago!
Got some Shadowrun novel vibes from it. And I quite liked to read those as light reading.
Honestly? I just wanted to know the results of the December vote
Unpolished and unedited it may be, but I'm already hooked. I would love to read this story.
I remember someone left a comment years back (maybe around Issue #5?) that "It's 'The Starcaster Chronicles', not 'The Cort Ryder Chronicles'". This could be a beast to fit into 24 pages, but a spinoff issue with this protagonist sounds fun!
I think you worry too much. 😁🤗
I don't know if I got charged or not and I honestly don't care. CAD has been a companion for such a long time back then, that I feel I still owe you. So just get some extra coffee to fuel the creativity I'd say. Will read the pages as soon as I have a bit more time for it as well looking forward to it.
I absolutely love your writing Tim. I still remember your wintereenmas Ethan story, that was great as well. Excellent value for my $2, I hope you write more, looking forward to more SC Chronicles and maybe more of this in 2026!
Love it.
Wow, just wow ... the important stuff first ...those 8 pages made me hungry for more ..if this was the start of a big novel I would be curling up in the sofa with it until I was done .. no sleep, no food :) I would love to get know Essia more. You could actually do many things with this. You could continue just to write it - I think you are talented enough to make this into a great book if you ever feel for it. As you suggest yourself it could also be a standalone comic and I think it would be great .. the Starcaster Universe is exactly the right environment for it. You could also think about writing her into the main story ..she sounds like a character Cort and co. could meet during their exploits and get into a lot of shenanigans ..I could image her chasing him as a mark just to dicover she now are part of much more than she bargained for :) ....but I would actually love for you to make this a novel - these 8 pages are well written, trigger my imagination and Essia is already living in my mind Well done!! ... just well done!! ps.: and I forgot the non-important question about money being thrown around ..I will just quote Fry from Futurama :) Shut up and take my money!!
Dude, don't worry about it.
Sure enough I got charged for January. I'll enjoy reading the story later, its all good.
I love the glimpse into the story. I’ll have to read it later but this sounds like a good compromise to me!!
Uuuh. That sounds very promising and intriguing. I would read that book 👌🏼🤩
I'm sure this is an interesting story. Personally I have no interest in reading it right now and unlikely I would read much text based media if it were a path you decided to pursue further. I hope you don't take this as me saying you shouldn't develop your creative skills. Simply sharing my feedback that I am not interested in this kind of content
