Tl;dr I’m voting to side with Captain Karada and get out of there. -------------------------------- We have two options which are the following: Stay Put: - safest option - low probability of being found - low probability of being targeted - medium probability of being accidentally hit - risky in the sense that it’s about a gamble that the asteroid won’t be chosen for target practice - nerve racking to sit through Run: - dumb option - high probability of being found - high probability of being targeted - low probability of being accidentally hit - safest in the sense that it’s about a gamble that getting out of there and being noticed is better than being turned to space dust as a sitting duck since neither Captain Karada nor Kayzee know what or where the shots are coming from or how many shots are left and the more shots the more opportunities to be turned to space dust - heart stopping rush trying to get out of there in one piece and not be followed Personally, I would pick the "Stay Put" option, but I’m not Captain Karada. From the looks of things, he’s not out in that asteroid field with a legitimate government permit. He’s probably trying to gather ore and sell it to the black market to skirt taxation and regulation. Captain Karada, from my perspective, is the kind of guy to take big dumb gambles that have a chance to pay out well enough if he can hold on long enough by the seat of his pants. He’s a kindred spirit to Cort. A grifter like Captain Karada would probably want to throw the dice on "Run" and see how big a win he could get out of it over a guaranteed loss from sitting still and being turned to dust.

Stay put - if the blasting keeps on for long, then they can always change their minds. If I didn't know what's going on (what's firing), that's what I'd choose. KNOWING what is going on, I think being one of 6000 identical targets is preferable to being the ONLY moving target - plus, the shooting can't continue for too long, he's gonna get drained at some point... but I'm not sure who these people are and why we are voting for them? NPCs to bring the news, probably, but then why are we voting for them? Hmmm...

Something tells me Dranglaex train even harder than Nyrah was pushing Cort. If they stay here for a couple of days there ain't gonna be that many asteroids left, when they're done. Blast 5000 of them and even if the asteroids are not destroyed and total count doesn't decrease - that's already a 6% chance they are gonna be hit by one of the blasts (not to mention the chance of hitting two asteroids with one blast). Sounds to me like it all depends on Kelias' stamina, when using starcaster.

He will become the preferred practice target if he so much as sneezes. However, I imagine they are going to get a few chunks against their hull as that beam creates a massive storm of debris.

I want him to stay put and be able to view his incoherent rant on the nightly news. "So there I was being all law abiddin' and BLAOW BLAOW they started chunking the rocks and I was all SHEEEEEEET! And my robo partner was all WE GUNNA DIE! But I played it cool and now I get to tell everyone they got a second Caster!" Guy starts moving? He becomes Caster target practice and the brother DON'T turn on each other in frustration.

Tbh absent the meta knowledge of "I'm in a sci fi story!" staying put makes far more sense. That's also boring. Never tell me the odds!

I agree that staying put is boring. I can only see two possibilities there. Either they're undetected (and nothing incredibly interesting happens), or they get disintegrated and the story moves on without them.

Move and they become more interesting and possible moving target practice for the shots

Get out of there. Maybe warn someone that the fleet is there. Otherwise, why do these two characters even exist? They'll surely catch the bad end of the staying put odds.

Stay put, what could go wrong here...
