RMLP Chapter 299: Three Men (Part 2)
Someone had entered the range of their presence detection.
At first, they thought it was another ogre, but seeing them approach in a group made it clear it wasn’t.
‘Humans.’
Sure enough, checking the tracking list showed they were drawing closer.
Rustle—
Cutting through the thick forest, they appeared—it was, as expected, a group of players.
“Oh, found her.”
“So this is where you were?”
“Hey, Chrissy.”
Three men who appeared out of nowhere greeted her like they knew her—but Christine had never seen them before.
No, she recognized one person’s nickname and face.
He was the one she had planned to seek out.
“Seonbi-nim?”
“Huh? How did you know? We’re in a fantasy world, so nicknames shouldn’t be visible.”
“I recognized you from the tracking list.”
“Ah, that makes sense. Then I don’t need to introduce myself?”
The smiling player's nickname was [Seonbi].
The one beside him, snickering, was [Ballon d’Or].
The third, staring coldly at her for some reason, was [ScaryWorld]—Christine could tell.
So she didn’t bother asking for introductions.
She simply got to the point.
“Seems like you came looking for me. What’s your business?”
“Don’t be so wary. We’re not here for anything bad.”
Smiling kindly, Seonbi slowly revealed their purpose.
“We’re players who received your help in the last round.”
“You got my help?”
“You supported us with heals when we were in danger. Thanks to you, we survived several life-or-death moments.”
Christine tilted her head at the claim that she’d helped them.
Their faces were entirely unfamiliar.
‘I helped them in the last round?’
Round 18 was a war-themed round.
She had cast wide-area heals that helped thousands of people.
How could she possibly remember whom she’d helped?
“I’m not sure…”
“You don’t remember?”
“It was chaos during the war, so maybe that’s why…”
“That’s a bit disappointing.”
As the three nodded in agreement, Christine grew flustered.
She genuinely didn’t remember—what more could they expect?
“So what did you come for?”
“What else? To return the favor.”
“To return the favor?”
“This 19th round is too dangerous to go around alone. There are monsters all over. So we came running to support you.”
Though their intent seemed good, Christine didn’t plan on accepting help from strangers.
“I appreciate it, but I’ll be fine.”
“A bit cold to people who came to help, aren’t you?”
“Seriously, too much.”
The shift in tone caught Christine off guard.
“…As you can see, I already have someone helping me.”
“Who? That guy next to you?”
“Looking at the tracking list, it says his name is [Jeffy], right?”
“Hey, Mr. Jeffy.”
Seonbi approached Jeffrey.
“Did she help you too?”
“…”
“What’s your relationship with Chrissy?”
Jeffrey just stared coldly.
As if to say he didn’t even want to talk to the likes of them.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?”
“Is he mute?”
Christine snapped at that.
“Hey. That’s uncalled for.”
“Guess he is mute. Look at you getting defensive.”
“Why is Chrissy flaring up when he’s the one being quiet?”
“Don’t tell me you two have that kind of relationship?”
“A saintess with a bed partner? Now that’s a shocker.”
As they twisted the narrative, even Jeffrey couldn’t stay silent anymore.
Srrk—
“Wow, look. The mute’s drawn a dagger.”
“Sh*t, you wanna fight?”
“Put that down before we get rough.”
The atmosphere instantly turned hostile.
While Jeffrey’s killing intent contributed, the ones who escalated things were them.
“Just get lost.”
“Oh? You can talk?”
“We thought you were mute because you kept your mouth shut.”
“But why should we get lost? You leave.”
Despite being outnumbered, Jeffrey didn’t back down.
“Your tongues are long... do you want it to be cut?”
“What?”
“This bastard—he’s asking for it.”
“Psycho. Pulling a knife on strangers.”
Not wrong.
Drawing a weapon just because he didn’t like their approach might have seemed excessive.
But Jeffrey had a duty to protect Chrissy.
“I can already tell why you approached Chrissy, so just get lost. This is your last warning.”
“Oh, I’m so scared.”
“Here comes Prince Charming on a white horse.”
“What, you gonna take on all three of us by yourself?”
“Hey, he’s not alone. Chrissy’s here too.”
“Oh, right.”
Even with Chrissy, they weren’t worried.
A healer wouldn’t tip the scales much.
They still had the advantage in numbers.
“Let’s see what you’ve got.”
“Go ahead and hit first.”
Srrk—
As all three drew weapons, Christine panicked.
“D-don’t fight. Jeffy, please stop too.”
“Chrissy, stay back. These men clearly didn’t come with good intentions. They probably planned to use you and then kill you.”
“We did? Based on what?”
“Unbelievable. Helping someone gets you treated like a criminal.”
“Keep your delusions at home, old man.”
Though their reactions were incredulous, Jeffrey believed he was right.
Then—
“What’s going on here?”
Another player emerged through the brush.
A face Christine recognized.
“Dorothy?”
The archer Dorothy looked around, trying to grasp the situation.
“What’s this? Why’s the mood so tense?”
“Dorothy, why are you here…?”
“You revived me before, remember? I was grateful, so I came to help.”
The three men jumped at her words.
“See? She came to help too!”
“So why are we the only ones being treated like intruders?”
“Is this how you treat people who came all this way to help? Huh?”
When they put it like that, they weren’t exactly wrong.
This situation had escalated mostly because Jeffrey felt offended.
Christine was about to say something, hesitating—
When an unexpected person appeared.
“What are you all doing here?”
It was none other than Black Scythe.
