Daily Animation Challenge: October 5 - 7, 2026

As animators it can be hard to find the time to disconnect from our work and reconnect with our emotions. Sometimes you just gotta mellow out you know?

...and what could be more mellow than another ANIMATION CHALLENGE?

This time we'll be spinning the Mood Ring!

Much like fetish roulette from last time, I'll be spinning a wheel before the challenge for each participant. However this time it's all about the vibes. The Mood Ring will list moods instead of fetishes (romantic, spooky, cute, etc.) The participants may interpret their given mood through setting, story, character, or anything else that sparks their creativity. Like the fetishes, these should hopefully get people out of their comfort zone and thinking more about the emotions and contextual elements of their animations.

The procedure will be the same as last time: the weekend before the challenge I'll spin the wheel four times per person, after which they will have to choose three of the four moods to use for their three daily animations. These moods can be done in any order they choose.

Moods may in some ways be more flexible than fetishes, but there are a few that could be quite tricky. There will be 15 moods in total:

1. Spooky

2. Romantic

3. Cute

4. Lustful

5. Apprehensive

6. Ferocious

7. Devious

8. Arrogant

9. Disappointing

10. Shocking

11. Blissful

12. Envious

13. Lonely

14. Embarrassing

15. Monotonous

As usual, here are the standard rules for the challenge:

For 3 days, all participants are expected to create, render, and release an animation from scratch during each consecutive 24 hour time period. 3 days, 3 animations. There are no requirements for sound, software, render engine, or runtime.

As mentioned above, everybody gets four choices and they're allowed to drop one. These don't really have to be decided until they start, so I just have them all listed above.
