The Book of Boba Fett | S1 E5 | "Chapter 7: In the Name of Honor" | (UNEDITED)

Wow 🤯

Absolutely blown away by this show.

Why does it get so much hate?

I'm legitimately asking. I really don't understand it.

Love you guys,

Alex

Well to say my piece. I watched this show when it came out. Every episode I’d tune in because I was excited to see the Boba Fett show that I was sure would never be made until the Mandalorian. And it wasn’t until the final episode “in the name of honor” that I realized the most excited I was in the boba fett show, was when they took a break to have two episodes of the Mandalorian. To address, Grogu reunites with the Din. This should’ve been a big moment for “The Mandalorian” not the boba fett show. If anyone wasn’t crazy about this boba fett guy who just kinda exists then dies in the movies, you’d be at a complete loss in season 3 and rightfully ticked off to learn that the season 2 finale and bittersweet separating of Grogu and Din is completely undone in an episode of a different series not even marketed to have Mandalorian content. Speaking of which plot critical information of the Darksaber and the building of Din’s new ship are again, covered in a series not called “The Mandalorian”. This alone was the last straw for live action Star Wars as I realized to watch any live action Star Wars shows would require you consuming all other Star Wars content to derive any satisfaction from the latest show. I do not want watching Star Wars to be “homework” for the show I really want to watch. And second, more pressingly, and more of my personal opinion. Not Enough Action. And the action that did exist was boring. Boba Fett doesn’t fight in the present day timeline until the finale; it made me just want to see Boba’s Tusken days more than anything honestly. If the action scenes in the middle of a season are the most exciting of the action series, rather than the intro or finale, you’ve done something wrong. Something better made were the “Power Rangers” as I believe the community dubbed them at the time. They were actually a cool concept and each very unique in style and aesthetic, but there was never anything done to dive into their characters. I really wanted to care about the Power Rangers, they seemed very cool, but the show never gave me anything beyond looks and a meme’d into oblivion Skad 360 spin move. The use of one barely on the map settlement as the “riders of Rohan” moment as I will dub it was kinda boring as these were really only introduced in Mandalorian and thus kinda meant nothing to the story of Boba Fett, also they’re impoverished farmers, one town’s worth to be precise and that’s supposed to turn the battle against the Pyke syndicate which up until the finale were shown as intimidating, competent, and had endless manpower/resources. So let’s move to the foreshadowed Rancor, we knew it was coming since they introduced it. And all it accomplished was me scratching my head the whole time going “wait, I thought Boba Fett was trying to save the city? Not cause more damage than the Pykes.” Also the Rancor and Boba riding needed scenes of Boba learning about it and developing a bond. The Banthas got more attention from the show. And last but certainly not least, Cad Bane. Again most people watching the show didn’t watch Clone Wars, he meant nothing to them. So to the uninitiated he just kinda pops up in the very end claiming to have a long and personal history with Boba Fett that not even most clone wars fans are aware of since the arc where their history is fleshed out, was cut in the Disney acquisition. He’s the big bad of the series, Boba’s #1 op in the season, and you’re not even hinted at backstory, importance to Boba Fett, or his general presence in the show until the finale. I’m glad you could enjoy this Alex, but Book of Boba Fett had me bored by the finale and exasperated by the fact almost half of the show wasn’t even about Boba Fett, but Din Djarin.

As a hard-core star wars fan, I have a lot of problems with the Last Jedi, The Rise of Skywalker, and The Acolyte because they ruined Luke Skywalker, Anakin Skywalker, Kylo Ren, Yoda, Qui-Gon Jinn's death, and a lot more. However, I really genuinely enjoy The Book of Boba Fett, and the majority of star wars fans I personally know liked this show. The critiques you had, Alex, are the same most haters/lovers of the show had: The speeder bike chase scene sucked and the speeder bike street rats were extremely annoying/cringy. I think most of the fans that really have an issue with the show don't have a problem with the Tuskan scenes, or the final two episodes, but rather the other episodes were Boba is kinda just getting pushed around. They wanted to see the ruthless mercenary version of Boba, not the Boba trying to turn over a new leaf. Additionally, some people had an issue with Cad's appearance, but I don't understand why, I thought they nailed it. But not everybody loves every topping on a cheeseburger, so not everybody will think a movie/show is great.

Keep on loving star wars the way you want, the fans that hate it now are just louder than the people that love it.

The main problems I've heard a lot about is that Boba Fett is mostly weak in the show, the Mandalorian season 3 has a huge plot hole without this show, the colourful speeders are slow af and we get very little Cad Bane. Also the bigger the beast doesn't necessarily mean more difficult to control with the force. Stronger minded people are harder to control than normal or weak minded anything. Size is an illusion

Just know that while I thought it was ok, I had to post this from a review I saw of the show years ago. "Anyway, remember Jabba's palace? Remember the rancor? Remember the sarlacc pit? Anyway, remember Jabba's palace? Remember the rancor? Remember the sarlacc pit? Remember Slave 1- Uh, excuse me. Boba Fett's Starship? Remember Tatooine in general? Tha-that was the planet from Star Wars movie that you liked, remember? That- Star Wars remember Luke Skywalker Remember Ahsoka? Remember Order 66? Hell yeah, I love youngling slaughter! R2-D2 showed up and i clapped! Remember the podrace and the Naboo starfighter and the pit droids? Whoa look it's Mando and Grogu. It's been so long since we've seen them how nice that they're finally back after all these years. Remember Cobb Vanth? Remember Hutts? Remember the pikes? Remember Gamorrean guards? Remember droidekas? Remember Max motherfuckin' Rebo! There he is! It's Cad motherfuckin' Bane! You may now applaud! We did it! We brought him back for 15 whole minutes of screen time! Now, he's dead baby! Thanks for watching, fuckers!"

cad bane isn't dead that we know of if you listen closely you can hear beeping signaling to his droid that he needs help so we don't know if cad bane is alive or not

This is honestly one of the even bigger reasons why the book of boba fett is hated along with mando season 3 (although not to the same extent). It was all set up for grogu to become a Jedi under Luke skywalker, but Disney just had to give in to all the Facebook posts of middle aged mothers who were obsessed with grogu and decided to sacrifice the story line to bring him back

M
Michael · September 17, 2026

Yes, that deleted clone wars arc people told you about was true, in fact that was originally meant to be cad banes death. It was not released along with a significant amount of other content because the show was cancelled after season 5, when they already had 2 entire seasons already in full production ahead and a 3rd season in the writing stage. As you know, they released season 6 as a short season of the things they had already completed, and the final season 7 was made completely from scratch without using any of the original ideas for what would’ve been season 7 or 8

L
LocalAubergineMan · September 17, 2026

That's mostly true, aside from the Bad Batch arc which does have an "unfinished" version like many of the others. Shame the "nose art" scene never made it to the final product, iykyk.

You are correct. In the duel, they both shot each other in the head. Cad caused the dent in bobas helmet. Boba is the reason Cad had a metal plate on his head.

I think because the majority of Star Wars fans are obsessed with the EU and Leyends and all that extra stuff. Frequently they broke the characters making them ridiculous powerful, so when we see live action and they have to be a little bit more realistic, those fans got bummed in their expectations. Their fault really... if you just watch the movies and series you got to enjoy way more and in a more objective way.

A
Atomrod · October 4, 2026

I mean I didn’t enjoy it because the show was bad not because of eu stuff. The acting and dialogue even in mandos episodes was cheap

Let's just say it's a mixture between killing off Cad Bane being one of the worst decisions in modern Star Wars and you having low expectations haha

O
Ollie D · September 16, 2026

Well to be fair, we don’t exactly know that yet, if you looked carefully you can still see his equipment flashing, meaning there maybe a chance of him still being alive, so it still leaves the character a bit open ended, in case they want to bring him back, like with Maul, I don’t see any of u complaining about his return, unless you haven’t watched Clone Wars, which isn’t likely I’m just saying

For the average viewer it’s a good show. Nothing major that ruins it. But for the deep diving die hards, there’s a few little things that stack up and make it not great. Me personally I liked it better this time around, but I absolutely hate the live action Ashoka and Cad. For me they can take a live action character and animate them and it doesn’t seem too bad. But taking an animated character and putting them in live action just looks like ass and me personally, along with others I guess, I’m not a fan. That and the stupid little goth group on their colored bikes. That’s pretty dumb for a Star Wars show.

Pipst7r · September 16, 2026

As someone who loves Star Wars very very much, I loved the Ahsoka show. Really wanted to see more of her which i got. She’s one of my favorite character! Theres almost no Star Wars show i dislike or think is mid. The ones i can name is Skeleton Crew, that one is okay/mid. The second one is Resistance, that show is ass, otherwise i love em all. Edit: ah yes Acolyte show was mid as well, but i did like Stranger though.
