[Cherry Waves] Yum yum character sheets in the making 🍘

Finally, after a year procrastinating doing this, I'm working on it!

But before we begin... NO, TREVORRR IS NOT GONNA GET A BUZZCUT OK ಡ ͜ ʖ ಡ (he looks kinda hawt though). I'm just making the heads separately so I can get the shape right to put the different hairstyles on top n' stuff.

But ANYWAY yes.

This is just the beginning, and I plan on doing lots of characters expressions, angles and put the boyos in different outfits over time. Even if not everything is intended to be polished, having something to check and use as a reference to keep things consistent (and faster) is gonna help A LOT. And hey, if I ever get an assistant or make an anime (HA, ONE CAN ALWAYS DREAM), it's great to keep everyone on the same page. 🌈

Since I have a lot of drawings of my characters already from my own webtoon, I'm gathering all the panels to use as reference.

One of the reasons I'm doing the sheets is that the stye is very inconsistent, and I'd like to have a one "source of truth" to refer to, that takes into account all the things I like (and specially the ones I don't) from my past drawings.

For this, I will also look at my other illustrations and update some of them for the sheets!

This is not an absolute necessity, but I would highly recommend you do something similar (even if at a small scale) if you're working on a webtoon. It's gonna save you time and headaches.

In my case, I've also always wanted to do complete character sheets, concept, designs, insert any name you prefer! For me, I will go for "settei", which is the term for the ones used in anime production and the ones that I'm actually looking at when making this!

My go to place to find Settei from anime is a database called Settei Dreams [LINK].
Go take a look and definitely save the bookmark if you're an artist because this is GOLD.

You can find a lot of titles! Not everything is in here, but it's very complete (the ones I show are from there).

I study them and look at what kind of details they show and how they simplify (this is a BIG one for me, and in anime they are masters at this). In general, I analyze different ways to make and present the sheets and try to learn as much as I can, style-wise. Super fun ✨.

So there you go!

This is one of the most fun parts of the pre-production for me, since you get to design the characters, imagine how they would move, figure out details, and also think and determine what kind of gestures or expressions would become signature for them (and also which ones would feel completely off character!).

I was just too burnt out and busy to do it before, but the good side is that now my style feels more developed, and I definitely feel more comfy to finally do it!
