[Cherry Waves] Trev's tattoos and tears.

So as you might have guessed, as much as I love tattoos, I... kinda want to die inside every time Trev appears. Up until now, all the tattoos were made by hand every panel, or copy pasted from previous episodes, placed and reworked. And truth is, it's just not sustainable. It takes way too much time, referencing and guesswork.
I tried to make a full sheet to grab the tattoos more easily but still... too much. ಡ ͜ ʖ ಡ
For the episodes I use Clip Studio Paint EX. I won't go into details here, but one of the best things about the software is the ability to use Materials. These can be anything from images, patterns, brushes, 3D models...
You can either download them from their Asset Store or create your own. You can access your personal library while working and speed things up a lot! (I've neglected this for too long cause lack of time, ironically xD).
✨Very useful for templates and complicated or repeating things -like Trev's tattoos!- So at first I wanted to create the image materials for the tattoos to then just drop them in there and reposition them as needed!✨
BUT OF COURSE, Trevor's tattoos are not that easy to place, since they are intricate and go around the arm and neck. This means I'd need lots of images for different angles, poses, and.... I already want to cry. I need something more, enter 3D! 🎉
So that's what I finally got the time and willpower to investigate yesterday.
I have yet to pick a model I can use to paint the texture of the tattoos on it. Then I can put it on my panels and pose it to place the tattoos correctly! I'm still trying things out, but look! (just a quick test using a sister app called CSP Modeler... also not the actual tattoos yet xD)
This will make my life so much easier!
But enough with the blabbering! I thought you might be interested in seeing a bit more of the rough work behind the scenes. Comics are tough guys, we gotta find our tools to ease our process so we don't die. 🥲

Same, it’s super interesting to hear about & see, both your process & the technology! And we’ve definitely all been there of procrastinating on something that has a learning curve, even though it may save us time in the long run, but it’s hard to tell in the beginning, cause like, who has the time? 😂😅 so kudos to you for taking the time! It looks like it’ll really pay off! And then… I mean… Trev… ❤️_❤️

How you aren't dead yet is beyond me ಡ ͜ ʖ ಡ you incredible human being with your insane talent and insanety of drawing all these tattoos all over again every single time ಡ ͜ ʖ ಡ massive respect but you have a dead wish don't you ಡ ͜ ʖ ಡ happy you found a 3d thing that hopefully will make your life a lot easier tho! The tattoos are amazing everytime and im amazing you've drawn them every single time uptill now and I didn't have a clue! This info is super interesting to me as well so yess please keep sharing like this but please please please go give yourself time to figure the 3D thing out and make your life a little easier cause otherwise I'm gonna need trev to go get laser removal trips so we can safe you ಡ ͜ ʖ ಡ
