Fancy Movie Time #9: The 400 Blows (feat. Josh Boerman)
On this episode of Fancy Movie Time with Brian and A.J., the fancy lads recruit their first ever Fancy Guest, one Josh Boerman from The Worst of All Possible Worlds, to cover François Truffaut's semi-autobiographical, coming-of-age drama The 400 Blows. Does Truffaut's unblinking look into the terrors of childhood make this a Fancy Feast? Or does the unrelenting bleak tone make this a Failure to Fancy? Perhaps most importantly, who is Johnson Laserdick and why is he SO. COOL?!

I hope for Christmas this year you guys cover All That Heaven Allows. It is suburban melodrama and I love it
Physical media is so important these days, especially for those classics once lost to time that might disappear once again. This is why I'm going to be getting the complete collection of the 2003 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon while it's available. Just doing my part for preservation, You're Welcome Cinema!
That is not what you carried around everywhere as a kid AJ
This was during a particularly bleak period of high school.
a more fitting cap on deus ex week than it might initially seem, because if there's anyone who never asked for this it's antoine doinel
"i never asked for this" is the thesis of every imagine dragons song too if you think about it
You have to do the holy mountain or I will send Jonathan laserdick to kill you
In the extended cut he gets to the beach looks sad and then a surfer comes up to him and is all “La vie est toujours come ça. MAIS PAS AUJOURD’HUI!” And a 1960’s beach party erupts from out of frame.
AJ is right. I’m on AJ’s side.
Welcome to the New Wave.
