10 - Josie and the Pussycats (feat. Jessie Cannizzaro and Eleanor Philips)
Strap on your long tails and ears for hats, because Brian (@spocks_brian), A.J. (@TheFuzzyMask), Josh (@boshj), and special guests Jessie Cannizzaro (Puffs, @JessCannizzaro) and Eleanor Philips (Puffs, @ecphilips) are literally climbing up the Billboard Charts to talk about the 2001 cult classic Josie and the Pussycats. They discuss the legacy of the seminal soundtrack, the rampant sexism of film criticism in the early 2000s, and the mysterious origins of Avril Lavigne.

I absolutely did watch this movie in theaters! I agree the trailer did NOT sound interesting, but my high school best friend loved Rachael Leigh Cook, and I loved Seth Green, so we obviously had to go. I haven't rewatched it, but I remember being shocked at how good it was - we were exactly the right age for ridiculous sex jokes, and the music was really catchy. I remember pirating the songs off Napster later.
Weirdly though I did watch Can't Hardly Wait a few months ago and that movie I still love to bits..
I actually had to rewatch this movie before this ancient episode. And the movie is more or less insuffrable. I did watch it in my 20s but I didn't remember it's this annoying, like an ADHD teen girl in Avril Lavigne concert back in the day when she was still relevant. I can appreciate some elements, but it's too 2000's.
I liked this episode. The wise @weadhitter/@weedhitler once told me that all the best movies are in the 4-6 sweet spot in IMDB and cited the Brady Bunch movie as an example. I look forward to watching the movie soon
