The lads grab their fedoras and make for Cairo as they cover Steven Spielberg’s 1981 megahit: Raiders of the Lost Ark. Topics include the undeniable charm of Harrison Ford, Indiana Jones’ skeevy origins, and what it means to be an active part of living history.

Yes!!! AJ’s horse corner!!
All I can do now is hope that when you eventually cover Veggietales you’ll include Minnesota Cuke as one of the episodes, because that’s one of my favorite parodies they’ve done (besides Lord of the Beans, obviously)
Also talking about Professor Jones being a sex god in that scene, holy shit. I felt so dirty as a repressed supposedly cis girl talking about how hornt I was for him in the gay group chat (as the token straight). Now I’m a gay man and it makes a lot more sense to my brain
My ranking of Indiana Jones movies is: 1- Last Crusade (obviously) 2- Raiders 3- Crystal Skull (better upon rewatch) 4- Dial of Destiny (actually not that bad and I did like Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s character) 5- Temple of Doom (it’s still terrible but Willie Scott is a mood)
I...Have never, EVER, heard ANYONE else mention a fear of movie credits. They scared me!! They're the scariest part of the movie!!
I have never seen any of the Indiana Jones movies, and I am enjoying hearing all of you geek out. “I’ve learned to hate you in the last 10 years” is a surprisingly bad ass behind line!
The singing at the beginning was excellent!
The recorder taking us into the break had me almost cackling out loud in my kitchen ❤️ truly cannot get enough of you guys. Massive fan this last year going through the back catalog and Adventures in Odyssey 🫡
I do want to hear about Wolfenstein and Wolfenstein II
The best intro you have ever done
Please please please, for the love of God please, cover the film "The Real Amish Witches" (2016) as a personal favor to me. I would love to hear Brian lose his protestant mind over this.
huge ep for fans of "It's The Pig"
There's also the "it got taken by the priests & kings that fled to Spain & is hidden in the school of sorcery Hercules founded underneath Seville"
This my new favorite opening for an episode.
It’s not *always* John Belushi - it was Jim Belushi in Trading Places.
Whoever was responsible for the joke at the end of the interstitial... How long have you been waiting for a chance to use that? And are you mad you cant now use it for a sketch where Indiana Jones is a vampire?
We really do have a kind of collective cultural amnesia about just how recently it was considered socially acceptable for grown men to pursue teenage girls. Really helps explain how MAGA boomers are able to compartmentalize the Trump/Epstein stuff.
I really hate to quibble, but the guy at the drinking game is clearly a ruddy-faced Anglo/Aussie/etc, not Nepalese. He's wearing plaid!
The only thing I wonder after all these years is how did the Nazis get the ark into the submarine? Those things don't have like a garage door on them.
10/10 horse corner, no notes.
who is hotter, harrison ford or toshiro mifune.... whoever loses, we win
10/10 intro
That intro either took 25 takes to make it through, or you guys smashed it in one. I want a full behind the scenes documentary about the making of that intro, from the pitch to completion. That would bring me to completion. And by completion I mean I'd skeet skeet motherfuckers goddamn.
Please cover Flash Gordon that movie is so camp and has such a weird production history
*TS Madison voice* "NOT THE BORE WORMS"
Yo, my girlfriend thinks that your podcast name makes no sense because 1) For Leibniz, the world we are living in must be the best whereas the other, worse worlds are merely possible 2) There is an infinite number of possible worlds (that are worse than ours) 3) In an infinite number of worlds there can't be a singular worst worlds. Care to comment?
I’m a PhD student in archaeology so I’m particularly interested in this one
I have a friend who is an archeologist and they had a big archeologist convention/meeting/synod/symposium near Disney World; she is pretty sure it was so they could all go to the Indiana Jones bar they had there.
When discussing the theories of the historical arc of the covenant I think you might be combining it with theories about the Menorah. It was the Menorah that the Romans allegedly took. I have never heard of anyone saying that the Ark was at the second temple.
I used to manage an Egyptian themed escape room, and in the lobby, on this tiny 24" TV in the corner, sat Raiders. Every morning I'd turn it on, the loop picking up right where we left off. It was there as an eternal companion, from 9am till 9pm, 5 days a week. I think I might have seen Raiders more than any other extant human, and it is still a Perfect Film.
George Lucas is an ideas guy, and he really needs other people to make his ideas actually good in movie form, and to take out all the weird shit. This is why the Star Wars prequels sucked so much, he had totally creative control and nobody to question him, and it all turned out a mess. You need someone to say "hey, let's not include this weird Jamaican stereotyped frogman" or "let's not make Indiana Jones a pedophile".
Greatest podcast intro of all time. Well done boys.
We really NEED a full version
Weird Indiana Jones's rival sounds a lot like the guy from the trash can who dodged the gomage. I wonder if he found a calling afterwards
Idk what George meant by it being "interesting" that a 25 year old guy had an affair with a 12/15 year old. The optimist in me wants to say that he means it's fucked up and it's a mark against Indie, but the realist says that's probably not true.
Alright looks like I’m going to work with “Get Low x Indiana Jones Theme” in my head today.
The channel Now You See It did a really great reading of the transcript between Lucas, Spielberg, and Kasdan, and everyone who loves this movie should check it out. https://youtu.be/O3C2V7y_yLs?si=9jBLM4_DEWI09p6I
Has any of the lads played the new Indiana Jones and Great Circle video game? Jones fighting Mussolini's men in the Vatican level alone would make a great episode.
Some audio issues with volume levels? Maybe around 1hr30 and others?
Thank you for catching that for us. It should be fixed now
That intro is gold
I knew it was going to be a solid episode, but the opening still had me smiling like a goof.
I fucking knew it, the only way to start is with the theme. Even if it's a parody
