The split-second clip of Patsy Cline's "Always" at 11:07, the kind of high quality easter egg I expect from this podcast

A display of Shrekadence

Today, I learned two things I didn't know and both surprised me. Michael Rapaport is a comedian, and AJ is single.

I don’t think AJ is single, I think he’s married to someone named Ellie? They sometimes act in the interstitials!

My friend watches traitors on her phone all the time while at my house. I don’t really pay attention to it, except that I LOVE Alan Cumming’s dramatic line readings!

I would love to hear y’all’s take on on the Korean show Devil’s Plan

If you wanna cover a psychologically damaging reality show, check out Solitary… a horrible concept of a competition type show based around actual solitary confinement paired with psychological warfare tactics that somehow ran for four seasons

N
Nemo · March 8, 2026

AJ's mum's arc is exactly the same as mine with The Traitors lol. Although I will say I much prefer the version with no celebs all normies because I find them more entertaining and unpredictable

T
The Motley Fool · March 7, 2026

While I do think Rob played a sharp game, I also absolutely believe full half of his success was because he's hot. He's not some psychological mastermind, he's just hot and people like and trust hot people

Shocked that the KMZ FT2 got a reference. Long live the Krasnogorsk factory

Crazy that Mark made it top 6 and I don’t think you mentioned his name once because he was that forgettable.

I didn't know Ron Funches was in this show. I love that guy

UK traitors (particularly seasons 2 and 4) is SO much better than the US-c-lister-filled version. The fact its just normies fighting for life-changing money makes it much more entertaining and makes you actually root for them.

I will still say that the celebrity one where you can see that Alan Carr was so utterly broken about the win with everyone being like genuinely betrayed was insanely good telly though

i didn’t know who michael rappaport was before listening to this, and all i could picture was michael from GTA 5

I'm glad you touched on societal bias in the voting. It's such a strong element in the (UK) show that it frankly makes it hard to watch sometimes. Also if you like competitive reality TV with a social deception / madness element I'd highly recommend a Korean show called The Devil's Plan. The games in that are very well designed and real head scratchers.

The first season is really good. But there were some issues and they went so far overboard in trying to correct them, that the second season is borderline unwatchable.

As a true sicko I couldn't *not* look up the group that was audible when Josh name-dropped it over the Herzog bit to find out what the bsky post was. Then when I found it and also that Brian had replied to one of the snarky commenters and pointed out what he was parodying, trust me when I say it took all my strength of spirit not to reply to that with the "satire requires a clarity of purpose" pic as a gaff. It was such a perfect setup for it, but for one thing Brian wouldn't have any reason to infer that it was tongue in cheek unless I explained the joke to death. And more importantly I frankly didn't want to find out how many people would just agree unironically with that sentiment. So I guess I'm killing the joke like this instead, by explaining what it would have been on a different platform. Anyway this show sounds fucking fantastic, I don't know when I last watched a reality TV show that wasn't on Dropout but this sounds so up my alley that I'm strongly considering breaking that streak.

Coming back here after the fifth episode of the same season discussed, oh I am so fucking hooked, this rocks. As a known fangirl of chaos gremlin characters in the visual novel version of this kind of material you'd think I'd be able to subsume my distaste for Rapaport into appreciation for how much of a Kokichi Ouma type he was for this group, but good god that man is vile. I was laughing at most of his bullshit don't get me wrong, but when the roundtable was near unanimous on "We don't even care if you're a traitor we just want you gone" I was right there with them. Damn if the traitor team didn't get mileage out of every second they could keep him in the game though. Oh and at the next global bisexuals summit I'm nominating Alan as our #1 icon. Bless that man to high heavens.

Anybody know if they've ever talked about Avenue Q? Made the mistake of relistening to the soundtrack. And my god, there has never been a piece of media more up there alley.

They have not, but I'd be very down for an Avenue Q episode.

think I would have just preferred the regular anecdote or just leaving that on the editing room floor. The voiceover got tedious way too fast. besides that minor thing great episode

Glad to hear Brian taking a strong stance on Flemish just being Dutch, he is correct, a Flemish friend of mine compared the difference between the two languages as less significant than the difference between British and American English (it’s just accent and some regional words, they don’t even have the spelling thing).
