Fancy Movie Time #37: 8 1/2 (1963)
On this episode of Fancy Movie Time with Brian and A.J., the Fancy Lads get stuck in the throes of the dreaded "director's block" as they cover Federico Fellini's 1963 harem-fest: 8 1/2. Do the impressive dream sequences and gorgeous cinematography make this film a Fancy Feast? Or do its sexism and lack of focus make it a Failure to Fancy? One thing's for sure: Brian Alford's got one heck of a Daniel Day-Lewis in the chamber.
Next Episode: Song Lang (2018).

The Night of the Hunter would make for a great fancy movie time episode. I know you guys would make me cry talking about Rachel Cooper
I have to be honest: I thought 8 1/2 referred to how many women he was fucking. The 1/2 confused me but I thought maybe it was just something I missed I watched this movie before the end of last year on a whim and I was *also* underwhelmed by it. Not sure what it is honestly. Could be that it’s so influential I’ve seen the best elements already, could be that I’m just not familiar enough with Fellini to appreciate rn. I’m not sure. And not to be a filthy American about it but I rewatched All That Jazz recently and I think it really elevates a lot of Fellini’s themes by being influenced by it (and also Bob Fosse’s life which is also very Fellini lol) Edit: I commented this before I got to the part where you guys talk about All That Jazz oops I should’ve guessed you would as theater folks
I recently had a carpel tunnel release and when my surgeon was looking over my test results he said “man your wrist looks shitty for someone your age” I may not have had shitty knee but I definitely had shitty wrist.
