225 - Trading Places (feat. Justin Roczniak)
Justin Roczniak (Well There’s Your Problem) joins the lads in Philly for a good old fashioned rags-to-riches and riches to rags switcheroo as they cover John Landis’ 1983 Eddie Murphy-fest: Trading Places. Topics include the joys of seeing your hometown on screen, the rapid rise of Eddie Murphy, and what it means to have a movie where the climax entails the future price of frozen orange juice.

Thanks for reminding me of the time my dad got me to watch Soul Man when I was in the process of applying to colleges. He is from Ireland and we are very white so it was a very weird experience. He did not suggest that I do what the guy in the movie does, thankfully.
I thought I was the only one who didn’t like Pluribus… Cheers, feel a bit better now
Mummers be mummin
CINCINNATI!
I think it took me 3 or 4 watches to fully get the ending. They are trading comedy futures. Its is a promissory note (loan) for a set quantity of oranges at a later date and price. Due to the freeze and the fake crop report Duke & Duke believe there will be a shortage of oranges produced. So they tell their guy in the pit to buy everything. Price starts low in the day but anticipation of the crop report drives the price way up when Winthrope and Valentine start selling. "Sell 200 April at 142" 200 units of frozen concentrated orange juice due in April. Tv report comes on, real crop report read. No shortage exists and the price collapses. Now to casually buy back shares to give to the guys they just sold to. They end the day with no oj just $$$
"Mouth off to teacher and you get a bad grade." Is my new favorite thing Brian has ever said
Oops, scratch that, "Brian Inflation" is my new favorite thing Brian has ever said.
country clubs what if we take out all the fun out of the library. And fill the building with rich **** and servants. BORED Boys from all boys boarding school with decades of **bad** IDEAS.
HOW DID THE LADS NOT KNOWN THE PAWN SHOP GUY WAS BO FING DIDDLEY!!!!!!
Little known fact: The gorilla bit is the beginning of furry culture.
Aside from the racism, the sexism, and the homophobia; Delirious and Raw are so fucking funny. That whole bit at the end of Raw when Eddie Murphy calls his parents is hilarious.
Denholm Elliott is so good in this. The subtle emotions he conveys when he's buttling, like fondness for Valentine or the pain in his eyes when he has to shut the door in Dan Aykroyd's face. The drunk Irish priest bit reminds me very much of an episode of Magnum PI where Higgins plays his own brother (who is a drunk Irish priest)
Y'all seem to be ignorant of the Boom Fiat Agreement of 1877 which, to tie the US dollar to the Boom, all mini-booms were confiscated at a subprime rate and were traded out as "Bangs". So while you can say 1 boom is 100 mini-boom that is an outdated statement. As of today's the Bang is ~67 to the Boom which has an arbitrated rate of 1.1-1.2 of the US dollar. Further more the new Treasury bonds issued under DJT will ties Booms and Bangs together under a Sustainable Insurance Security. A Sis-Boom-Bang tranche.
Collyer Brothers represent!!
Takes a lot these days for an Interstitial to make me say "What the fuck" outloud, but this one did it XD
We all must be each other's and our own Hype Man. On that thought, this is the second Grizzly Man Werner Herzog reference you've made in these interstitials. So I must ask when are you doing an episode on something he's made? Pretty please?
I’m not sure if you know this, but when a Whiffenpoof whiffens in the wind, the wind can whiffen back
Hell yeah, John Cage joke love you Rocz
You know what? I literally just listened to the Salad Oil episode of WTYP yesterday, so this is perfect timing. It definitely is one of the funniest episodes they've made.
Salad Oil easily the funniest. Fewest deaths if any. Poop Plane is pretty great, but one technical loss. (Not a loss to a technical, just technically a related death.) Many others have great moments. Salad Oil was great all the way through. The SL-1 Nuclear Reactor episode 183 is hilarious, but also sadly deadly.
Yesssssss
