224 - Angels in the Whitfield (feat. Tom O’Mahony) [Whit’s Endless Summer 49]
Tom O’Mahony (Lions Led by Donkeys, Beneath the Skin, Bloodwork) joins the lads in Odyssey for further adventures in tower construction, child death dreams, and what happens when an honest to God ANGEL comes to town. Topics include the myth of the Tower of Babel, the brain soup of Phil Lollar, and what it means to believe that incredibly attractive men in very expensive suits are constantly watching your every move.

Miyazaki’s On Your Meltsner
my ears stood up like a dog when Tom mentioned this is the time to buy suits
Upon relistening to this episode, I’m pretty sure Brian WAS mad about the non canonical Tower of Babel display at FotF because it didn’t light up like it does in the episode.
Tom's pitch that kids will "learn about farming" at his summer camp, really makes it sound like he's just gonna make them work on his farm.
Free child labor? In Odyssey? Say it ain’t so!
aj ditty walked so connor storrie could run
Tip for safer knife washing: keep a cheap plastic cutting board near the sink and hold your knives flat against it while you scrub.
Cannot stress enough how much I'd kill for a FNAF episode.
Oh Richard and Jason don’t need to be hockey players to have a Heated Rivalry. One’s a delinquent and the other’s a cop, they’ll figure it out
The fucking smol-beanification of everyone, man. From libs going "HOW IS THIS A KID'S SHOW?" about Steven Universe because a character is depressed or whatever to employees in the pentagon listening to Adventures In Odyssey.
this is good. this is progress.
Maltese language mentioned
Fun fact "Buttigieg" (which Mayo Pete mispronounces) roughly translates to "boss/leader/head of chickens"
Hey AJ, you should check out a podcast called Pretending to be People. It's a call of cthulu/ Delta Green series and the first campaign is set in a very Odyssey like town called Contention. It's been a long time dream to have you guys play with them.
This was a great listen after finishing the 30k novel the first heretic. It's funny how they do a better job of exploring divinity than a dedicated Christian organization
never thought i’d get jumpscared by sonic_ring.wav
The reason that the Trilemma falls apart so easily is the same as why Anselm of Canterbury's epistemological argument for God (you can conceive of a greatest possible being above all, that must be God), falls apart: it is completely limited to a Christian worldview, and it doesn't work if you think outside of that perspective. It's the same with The Problem of Evil. Maybe God does exist, but doesn't follow Christian human ideas of morality. All of these are the products of a society that cannot conceive of anything outside of their narrow perspective. And it only functions to reinforce what you already believe, not question anything. It's so asinine.
Thank you, I’ve been needing more AIO deprogramming.
Wait, is that the Newsreader from HBO's Rome as Nimrod? I recognize that shout anywhere!
Gaius Shoutius?
You guys are evil for that sound effect at “sonically”; I’m clearing tables I can’t be laughing or they’ll take my headphones away
I should’ve known better than to listen to an Earl Boen episode. Got me blushing and shit
Very disappointed the angels are not speaking Enochian
I was an almost embarrassing level of excited to see another Whit's Endless Summer episode had dropped. Also Tom NOOOOO I loved The Bone Temple! :(
Have we had Nate Bathea on on a Whit's Endless Summer episode yet? It would complete the Lions Led by Donkeys trifecta.
yes, two of them in fact. check out episodes 16 and 27
Marduk T-Shirt Men’s Room Incident by The Mountain Goats reference !!! 🗣️🗣️🗣️

28:40 that angel reminds me of the 40k early emperor depictions. A man who has many shapes and voices. Lol.
Member of Town is the name for King of Town's penis
