Dinnertime! The Biggest Paralives Food Update so Far
Happy New Year everyone!
Léa here to bring you a freshly baked update with all the food that has been added to the game recently. Sit down, it’s time for me to spill the tea ☕
As some of you might already know, creating food for Paralives is one of our favorite things to do. It’s fun, it involves staring at yummy pictures all day, and let’s be honest: it’s food.

Not to Be Cheesy, but They Are My Favorite: Pizzas!
When time is short, you might just want a simple snack, or to get takeout.
We already showed you the first pizza in our last update but have been creating variations of it to give our Parafolks some variety. After all, not everyone wants a Margherita every time. Ordering would take too long? I added frozen versions. Is it as good? No, but it’s cheaper!
In order from the top left to the bottom right: ham and cheese, 4 cheeses, ham and pineapple (I know, I’m sorry. I’m just doing my job, don’t come after me) and pepperoni. Next, we have the frozen pizzas, with cheese, ham and cheese, and pepperoni.
Bready, Set, Go! Sandwiches and Bread-Oriented Meals
Hot or cold, it doesn’t matter as long as it’s made with love.
A vegetarian version of the club sandwich from this post, and two triangle sandwiches: ham and cheese, and egg.

Burgers have a special place in my heart. Chloé created 4 versions of the cheeseburgers: classic, vegetarian, frozen, and frozen vegetarian.
You’re not the burger type? May we interest you in some delicious hot dogs? Chloé cooked us some yummy barbecue hot dogs, a vegetarian alternative, AND a microwave version for both because not everyone is a grill master.

Chloé was dedicated to creating beautiful fries for our Parafolks. We are not joking with potatoes here in Montréal.

Not a fan of bread with your burger? Chloé added two versions of the Hamburg steak, classic and vegetarian 🥦
Maybe you want something fancier? I prepared a scandalous filet mignon with asparagus and a gratin dauphinois. ✨
Pastas and Noodles Time!
We showed you our bolognese spaghetti in our first post about food, but I’ve been creating a lot of variations since.
Left to right: Alfredo, Carbonara, mushroom, pesto, and tomato. Creating variations of the same texture allows us to create more recipes while reducing our production time.
Zaru soba is for those who want something good and simple. No time for cooking? Chloé added the legendary cup ramen.
I Hope We Will Be Able to Wash the Rice Before Cooking it
Rice, like pasta, has many mouth-watering recipes, and Chloé added many of them to the game!

According to doctors, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I created 3 new breakfast options:
The timeless pancakes, the Japanese fluffy version, and a romantic heart waffle 💕
Chloé baked us some muffins! Banana, chocolate, blueberry, and chocolate chip. She also added those beautiful croissants! (also called Quacksons by Tom Holland)
May I interest you in some cakes? Carrot, chocolate, vanilla with sprinkles, classic cheesecake, and finally red berries cheesecake.
And that’s it for today. You may have noticed that our menu tends to be occidental, but don’t worry more recipes from around the world will be added in the future.
I hope you like it as much as we do. Both Chloé and I will make sure that your Parafolks can indulge in amazing food whenever they want to.

Wow sandwiches that look like real sandwiches, hamburgers and look like real hamburgers too, and so on, haven't seen that in a while,lol! Good job! I just joined so I am late to some post, but am enjoying it all very much.
Omg this look so amazing!! So inspiring omg I love beautiful food so seeing the details is just insane!! Love the way you guys made more recipes while using the same (pasta) details so that we get so many options. Cooking in games has always been one of my favorites so to see this & to have Parafolk have many options is just so nice! One thing I’d request is EGGNOG✨ for the holidays. I love the idea of them drinking & making eggnog. Hot Chocolate? Maybe in the future. This is blowing me out of the water.
Oui POUTINE!!!! Thank you for adding it to the game. The little Quebec flag is a nice addition too.
Would be so cool to see more international foods! Also, more southern US foods!! Also please give us plenty of microwave options for Parakids and teens... and adults who don't cook (/cook well) :P Like Dino Nuggies and waffle fries! OOO OR MONKEY BREAD! Can't tell you how amazing it was waking up to monkey bread for breakfast as a kid.

These look delicious! Maybe an IRL Paralives cookbook will be in order after the game's released? ;) Plus I learned a new word today, "occidental." Great update!
I never understood why people were so hyped to see more food in games until I saw the poutine and got Hyped myself XD.
Unpopular opinion: the best kind of pizza is pineapple and jalapeno.
I hope there’s more focus on gameplay aspects of just enjoying seeing your para cooking
But overall amazing job with the details of the food!
I hope there will be some game animations of cleaning the vegetables the pairing the utensils for cooking the recipes reading a book or something
Remember to add lots of Mexican food! My familia lives off of tacos! :p

I don't succeed to understand what is on the steak in the plate with fries, steak and broccoli. It looks like sauce but there are red dots, a red line and the texture of a paper... I think this thing needs improvements. But overall everything looks yummy and is really pleasant to watch :)

these look delicious! the cheese pizza is my favorite followed up by the rice and cakes! Everything is textured so impressively! The amount of detail that has gone into *food* is phenomenal! Keep up the good work my friends!

What the heck those actually look so good!
I am freaking in love with the fact that the microwave versions of the dishes don't look as "high quality' in that they look like frozen food you'd pop in the microwave! Sometime in the future I would love to see y'all's take on the classic TV dinner in the plastic tray, but honestly I think i could look at anything in this art style and be happy!
I love how it was normal food, normal food, normal food... BOOM! Filet mignon. And then back to normal food. :D
I’d love to have an option to buy books with some special recipes. Also any type of a rabbit hole with a grocery store would be so fun to buy ingredients. Another idea is to be able to create your own cook book if you’re high enough in a cooking level. I would appreciate adding the ability to make popcorn! It’s such a great snack for watching movies and spending time with the close ones.
These all look really good! Also I like pineapple on pizza, unless the sauce is sweet.

It looks super tasty and great; I had stomach flu, and now all those dishes are making me hungry! P.S. Remember that pineapple doesn't belong on pizza. It only exists in the virtual world, right?! Just joking; you guys can do everything! Buy from an Italian/Dutch fan!
How will different qualities of food affect the paras?
This part of the gameplay will come at a later time and I'm looking forward to see what we can do about that!

I love these, I would love if you could add different elements to a dish. Like adding chicken and salad to rice.
I love them all!! Nice work with the details, they look appetizing, relatable, and cute. I also really like the variety, like for example the multiple rice dishes, and the sandwiches. I love that there are the additional Japanese style fluffy pancakes and heart waffles. I look forward to making a chef in every household, lol!
Happy new year, Paradevs ! And thank you Chloé for this delicious first dev post of the year. It's very interesting because subtly, you're introducing the concept of cooking in these posts. We now have frozen food, fried food, stir-fried food, baked food... I can't wait to see how exactly it all works out with cooking animations, and how different recipes will maybe don't look exactly alike. (quick note : who eats their rice on a plate ? I eat mine in bowls !) It was also very cool to see jollof rice be added to the basegame so early in the process. I can't wait to see much, much more ! In That Other Game™ I have started using mods recently, and a good 80% of them are food related :P So there will never be too many options in my eyes. My only regret is that some of these screenshots are taken from a bit of a distance, and it's sometimes hard to tell some dishes apart. Two of the frozen pizzas, for instance, look very similar, even though I can sort of see the ham. The rices also suffer a bit from that. But maybe that's for the best because it's waaaaay too early to eat here, and I can't be hungry all afternoon :P
Thanks for the kind words and feedback! Food items will typically be seen from a distance in the game so their texture resolution is not extremely high. That's why we didn't zoom in very close (the texture would be a bit pixelated if you would zoom that close)

These look so good! I love the little extra detail of the vegetarian options having their own sprites. I always found it a little funny in the Sims when my vegetarian sims would cook a "tofu turkey" dinner that was miraculously turkey-shaped.

All of the food looks delicious. Very pleased to see so much variety. I've forgotten: has it been revealed yet whether cooking/baking is ingredient-based or do paras just buy generic 'groceries' and they can make whatever they want? And have all the kitchen appliances already been created? I'd love to see an airfryer as well, in addition to the mentioned microwave, barbecue and oven. Could probably make lots of the food from this post in the airfryer.
Thank you! The cooking system will be simple at first but we might make it more detailed and add ingredients during the early access We have created a few kitchen appliances and would like to add more and more of them after release!
I am FLOORED and so grateful that you have made the effort to make slightly different versions of items that are frozen/microwavable!! That is SO COOL. I cannot wait to use that while playing! It's also so interesting to experience a game that is not completely US-centric for once LOL. Like, that is not a New York-style bagel, but that is okay hahaha. I also love all of the different pastas and rice dishes! Everything looks great and I'm so excited to play with it all! THANK YOU!

The dishes are mostly really down to earth and there is alot for everyone:> Also i Love how they actually Look Like the food they should look Like! Very nice work everyone!

I love all of this but the one thing that totally sold me was the cheesecakes. My Parafolks with consume nothing else. Also, will the food contain a calorie system that can impact the Parafolks' weight?
Thank you! I too am a huge fan of cheesecakes For the initial Early Access release, a system where what you eat impact the weight of your character is not planned. After that, it's possible that we will make it so if you eat a meal while you were not hungry at all, you will gain weight

Food is amazing. When I saw fryes, I was kinda expecting fryes with fryed cheese, because someone from the team said they love it. Will there be also more variety in regards diets? Meaning vegan specific dishes or dishes based on paleo diet.
For fries with cheese, we have the poutine but maybe we could do a version without the sauce eventually! We would like to add a bigger variety of meals in the future for different diets
