🎵 Exclusive Look at 2 New Paramaker Tracks!

It’s been a while since we’ve had a music post, so I’m here to tell you about our progress with our game’s soundtrack.
🎥⬆ As you saw in the video above we’ll be talking about some Paramaker music, but also about the details of our production progress and what we plan to do once most tracks are finished.
New Paramaker Music
First things first, the track that you heard in the video above is one of our newest songs called “Life is ok”. You might recognize it from the video where Roger dies 😅 On a more personal note, I’ve always seen this song as a hymn of letting the things we love go. I know, it’s cheesy. But it fits the Paramaker!

In the last music post, we showcased a recently made Paramaker track and explained how the music changes according to the player’s actions. However, we never actually showed this feature! At the end of the video above (besides listening to another Paramaker track called “Time Machine”!), you’ll notice that as the camera gets closer to Marvin, the music adapts itself, leaving only a soft/intimate version of the song and vice versa as it pans away.
This isn’t the only interactive music system we have in mind for the Paramaker. On top of this, we are considering adding music stingers (short musical accents) whenever the player gets to do important actions (creating/deleting a para, confirming the creation of a household, etc). We’ll talk more about it in the future (maybe!).
Status Report
I’m pretty excited to say that we’re more than halfway through the creation of the main soundtrack for the Early Access release of the game 🥳There is obviously still a lot left to do but as we add more tracks, create more unique sounds and try different ideas, the identity of our original soundtrack keeps taking shape.
Bonus Paralives soundtrack fun fact (for music nerds): did you know that every song from the Paramaker and Build mode is in a different harmonic key from one another? Not only that but Paramaker music only has sharps (#) and Build mode has only flats (b) in order to contrast both game modes. There, now you know 😌
Nearing the End
As we get closer to the end of our Paramaker/Build mode music production, we are considering revamping our old favorite demos back from when I first started working at Paralives. I’m thinking of tracks such as Intertwined for the Paramaker and Home for the Build mode. Not only would it save us some brainstorming time, but we also inevitably grew fond of these songs and can’t let them go.
So once we get those revamps done and finish the rest of the songs, we’ll still have some things left to do:
Making the night versions of the Build mode tracks!
Revising each song for them to reach their max potential
Get them all mixed and mastered to be up to today’s music standards
- However this might have to wait for the rest of the soundtrack to be completed first!
I’m honestly pretty excited about what's to come for this whole production phase of the Paralives soundtrack. Hopefully next time I’ll get to talk to you about other interesting music/audio aspects we’ve been secretly preparing. What did you like the most about today’s music post? It's been such a while since I was able to backup this project 😔, I love the direction it is going, specially the current music is such a step up from when it started, really good, we'll probably hear it in the back of our minds like pokemon music.

ok I'm super late to this post, music is nice, i just want to say the foot animation was kinda distracting me. those appear to be doc martinesque boots which are steel toed and should not move that flexibly

I like it, does not annoy my tinnitus that I have 24/7. I also can't wait to hear their radio stations. It would be cool if we could also listen to their(para) radio stations while in build mode. This is something I wish we had in another game, because I love listening to the stations in Live mode. It would be an awesome feature. :)
I’m so excited to see that Interwind and Home will still be in the game!! I loved those tracks when they were first released, I have too grown fond of them and am very glad to hear they might stay!

I love the detail of having the paramaker soundtracks sharp and build mode flat, as a music nerd that's such a cool detail :D
The camera adapting is just f***ing GENIUS. Zooming in is generally when we get to the details, so having a music that’s a little more focusing is freaking genius. Nice one team!
The music starts with a cuíca, how could it not work? There is a feeling of longing, a nostalgia that is amazing. Very good indeed

LOOOOOOOOVE the music. I'm loving the cozy vibes it gives. I think the only thing I'd note is maybe the differance in the music when zooming in on a para could be a liiiiiiitle bit more noticeable. But maybe I'm just being nitpicky XD Love your work <3

I absolutely love "Life is OK" starting with the title itself and because it’s so mellow and relaxing. The beginning is nostalgic to me… like the feeling of riding my bike home with my friends on the last day of school before summer break, passing by the soccer pitch and the park. Or, today, sitting on a train home after visiting my friends and family in different cities, watching the landscape go by. Feeling blessed and like Life is OK indeed! Reminiscence about our real lives is exactly what a life sim should make you feel, right? So you guys nailed it, in my book 💜

Games with good soundtrack are really nice, but games that also make me feel things like nostalgia, are the absolute best ones, and this soundtrack and the game in itself will surely make me feel many emotions. I will definietly try out the early access, I want to feel everything while playing this game.

These are both such beautiful tracks, but Life is Ok is definitely my favorite! Such a lovely, bittersweet, cozy vibe... I can just see myself listening to it while I waffle over outfit choices and refine facial features to get things just right. Though Time Machine cutting back some layers on zoom is insanely cool and thoughtful too! Little details like that give me so much faith in how much this team cares about creating a great experience.

Paralives' music is such a vibe! I imagine a room with a breeze blowing through an open window on a nice day. So cozy and sentimental and fits the game perfectly. You all are doing such a great job, better than I could have ever imagined. <3

Hi Andrei, long time no hear :) The part starting at 1:15 is so hopeful... (why does this soundtrack always make me feel so emotional ?). And I also like the "humming chorus" after 2:30, I think it's nice to have this presence. This human touch is welcome in a game about people. It really fits the cozy atmosphere of the game so far, too :) I like Intertwined, especially the acoustic version with its strings. Not enough soundtracks make use of cello without sounding sad. Cello can be soothing and comforting ! Such an underused instrument sometimes.

This track also makes me feel too emotional honestly 😅 The humming chorus part originally had many more instrument layers but when I just played the humming alone, I thought it was perfect. As for Intertwined, I also love the acoustic version. We'll see what we can do with it!
Yes please to including Home on the soundtrack! I can't tell you how many times I'd put the video on loop in the background so I could listen to it as I worked. It's so soothing :) I also love how dynamic the music is! First with the day/night, now with zooming in and everything else. What a nice touch! Glad to hear that the overall music is past the halfway point.

The music you’re producing Andrei is giving all the same warm cozy vibes of the Sims 1 and Sims 2 games that are just so core memory for a lot of us. I love these songs and would just listen to them outside of playing the game. Can’t wait to play one day and have these tunes ingrained into me! 🎶
